  1. The manual is correct—Global EQ is designed to affect only the XLR outs, 1/4" outs, or both XLR and 1/4" outs (the default).
  2. If something's assigned to a switch, you don't need to use the joystick at all. Just touch the switch. If multiple items are assigned to a switch, touch the switch repeatedly. Way faster and easier than providing some complex assignment matrix view.
  3. Footswitches can be assigned to blocks, parameters, and Command Center messages. If your tone doesn't have a Split block (which can be set to A/B, which can be assigned to a footswitch), volume blocks are the key. There are two template presets already set up for this: 8 TEMPLATES > 02C TwoTones A-B and 02D TwoTones Blend.
  4. The main thing is to make sure your ins and outs are set to the proper levels: Press MENU and then Knob 6 (Global Settings). Select the Ins/Outs submenu and press [PAGE>] to view page 2. Set these parameters appropriately for your amp. Most amps' effects loops run at instrument level, but some can be switched from instrument to line.

    DSP limit ?

Yep. Path 1 and 2 each get their own DSP, and the description above is a cool way to share tones across multiple paths.
  6. We're aware of the issue and are currently investigating. This appears to only affect Mesa Mk V:25 amps.
  7. If you created all your presets with a path splitting off between individual Amp and Cab blocks and running to a separate pair of outputs, it could be as simple as connecting those outputs for that particular gig.
  8. Ah, gotcha. This has indeed been requested on IdeaScale. We already have the solution designed.
  9. The switching is still there, but admittedly, if you custom label the scribble strip, it won't tell you which is active—You'll have to look at the blocks on the main screen. To be honest, assigning a custom label to the EXP Toe scribble strip works best when not toggling EXP 1 and EXP 2.
  10. Either one will work, but any post-amp blocks (effects, looper, etc.) will be affected by upstream gain, even in HD500. Personally, I find it easier to just turn down the Channel Volume too, but the most transparent way to adjust overall preset volume is with the Output block's Level parameter.
  11. Not globally, but it might be easier to just copy and paste a Volume pedal to the end of each one of your patches. The Volume pedal will stay in the buffer, so it's just a matter of paste > paste > paste.
  12. Cool—thanks, robbieb61. The reason we don't list DT stuff in the updates is that its omission isn't a bug, it's a lack of features. If we were allowed to and decided to list all of the missing features in Helix, "Known Issues" would be like reading War and Peace. Our feature backlog is GIGANTIC. This is why IdeaScale is so important—it tells us what to prioritize. Cheers!
  13. Not independently, because remember, you're labeling the toe switch (one switch), not the pedal functions (two EXP pedals). :) You can custom label that scribble strip from either the Footswitch Assign screen (first select a block assigned to the toe switch) or the Command Center screen.
  14. The scribble strip above the treadle isn't for the expression pedal; it's for the toe switch, which toggles between EXP 1 and EXP 2. You can choose to custom label it "Volume" or "Wah", but there isn't currently a way to display continuous controller settings on scribble strips. I'd suggest requesting it on IdeaScale.
  15. Fair enough, stumblinman. A huge product release corresponding with major Mac and Windows OS releases ain't fun, I'll tell ya' that.
  16. It's just a bandwidth issue, but yeah, the thing's on my list of things to do. Probably not, at least not right away. Since Helix's models are so close to the real thing (again, to a fault), one could literally download the manuals for all the respective amps and pedals and understand everything. Or watch YouTube videos on them.
  17. Assign all three blocks (both Tube Screamers and the Mic Pre) to the same footswitch. Touch the switch repeatedly to select the first Tube Screamer (or use the joystick). Press the BYPASS button. Now pressing the footswitch will toggle the enable/bypass state of all three blocks.
  18. ... There's nothing I could possibly say that won't appear as passive-aggressive, so I'll just apologize in advance and add some smileys: Sorry, robbieb61. :) Ahem. Line 6 cannot legally talk about upcoming features or updates. In the more than 1,000 posts I've written over the past 3-1/2 months where I'm personally communicating with Line 6's customers far beyond office hours and even while on vacation, I'd say approximately 40-50 of those posts were reiterating the fact that we're not allowed to talk about upcoming features or updates. And at the risk of losing my job, 4-5 of those posts explicitly stated that improved L6 LINK compatibility is toward the top of our to do list.
  19. I'm not an accountant, so you pretty much know as much as I do now, but I trust Line 6's accountants: Deferred Revenue on Wikipedia. When Enron screwed all those people over, a bunch of trade laws were enacted to ensure the same thing couldn't happen again.
  20. Absolutely—it's called confirmation bias. You have to admit, lasvideo, that Line 6 is the victim of confirmation bias far more often than others. (Roland's not far behind, with everyone mistakenly believing COSM is a single 20-year-old architecture.) The only way to overcome confirmation bias is with double-blind ABX listening tests. We've run a metric ton of them throughout development, and if Helix's sonics were inferior in any way, we would've kept working until they weren't.
  21. Helix Rack won't be out for a couple months; we'll roll in whatever FW is current at that time.
  22. Yes. 8 TEMPLATES > 02C TwoTones A-B has it set up, ready to go, with spillover delay and reverb. If you'd prefer to smoothly blend between paths with the expression pedal, select 8 TEMPLATE > 02D Two Tones Blend.
  23. Helix has roughly 2.45x the DSP horsepower of HD500X (2.75x that of HD500), but because the models are a lot more DSP-intensive, in practice, you're looking at getting about 40-50% more blocks than HD500X (50-60% more than HD500). But it's not that simple. The input blocks have noise gates, a lot of models have high and low cut filters, and because of the HX engine, one typically requires a lot fewer blocks to get the sound they want. I've mentioned this plenty of times before, but if one tries to use 4 amps, they probably won't have enough DSP for more than a couple of effects maybe. Whereas if you use no amps, cabs, or IRs, you might get 32 effects, as long as they aren't all reverbs, pitch-shifters, and other DSP-intensive models. A lot of people also seem to forget about Path 2. That's half your horsepower! Page 19 of the Owner's Manual has tips and tricks on getting the most out of Helix's DSP.
  24. Helix Firmware v1.02.2 Release Notes Helix v1.02.2 is a free firmware update that includes fixes and optimizations. It is highly recommended that all Helix users perform this update! It is also recommended that you back up your current presets by using the Helix application to create a preset bundle, allowing you to install new presets as part of the update process. The easiest way to perform the update process is by installing the latest version of Line 6 Updater. Once you've connected Helix to your computer via USB port (hubs are not supported), Line 6 Updater will recognize the unit and take you through the update process. Line 6 Updater application may be downloaded here: http://line6.com/software/ Bug Fixes When set to Per Preset, Variax model and tuning settings would not recall reliably after rebooting —FIXED In rare cases, pressing the Variax/Mags knob on a Variax (connected via VDI) while the Helix application is open may cause Helix to freeze —FIXED In certain situations, punching out of the looper would not take effect after pressing UNDO, causing invalid data in the loop —FIXED Undoing an overdub in the stereo looper would only affect the left channel. —FIXED If the Helix application is open, FS6 (EXIT LOOPER) may fail to work after changing presets while in Looper footswitch mode —FIXED From the Controller Assign screen, changing pages in Pedal Edit mode would sometimes result in empty scribble strips —FIXED On rare occasions while booting, “broken TV†artifacts could appear on the main display —FIXED The underscore character (“_â€) could not reliably be used in IR names —FIXED Some pitch parameters’ negative values were not accessible from the expression pedal in Pedal Edit mode —FIXED Volume/Pan > Volume Pedal blocks would load bypassed when an external expression pedal was connected to EXP 2 —FIXED In some cases, the inspector line would disappear when jumping to the Home screen from the model list by touching a cap sense footswitch —FIXED Bypassed IR block footswitch appeared as dim white; now properly appears as dim pink —FIXED Variax magnetics could emit the Variax model signal when booting with Variax connected via VDI —FIXED Other minor bug fixes and optimizations Other Improvements Added underscore (“_â€) to available preset name and customized scribble strip characters Minor improvements made to the factory preset bundle Resetting Helix Globals / Loading the Newest Factory Presets (Optional) IMPORTANT! This procedure will completely overwrite all existing presets and setlists, as well as clear all user IRs and reset all global settings! Back up your presets and IRs before proceeding! Turn off Helix. While holding footswitches 9 and 10 (middle two switches on the bottom row), turn on Helix. Wait for the message “Will reset Globals and restore stock Presets, Setlists and IRs…†to appear and let go. Known Issues While a loop is playing, changing from a preset with the Looper block on Path 1 to one with the Looper block on Path 2 may cause a small portion of the recorded loop to play Minor pops and clicks may be present when Helix is streaming audio from a Mac® running OS X 10.11 (El Capitan) Minor pops and clicks may be present when Helix is streaming audio from an iOS ®device with Apple® Camera Kit Importing a Helix bundle while streaming audio over USB may cause the Helix application to disconnect In rare cases, Amp+Cab or Cab > Dual parameter graphics may overlap the action panel buttons while in Pedal Edit mode A certain rare combination of looper footswitch presses may cause several scribble strip graphics to disappear
  25. Was stuck in a meeting and Wifi wasn't working. 1.02.2 is available now.
