  1. Hey Guys! I got my hands on a HX Stomp and today we are going to run through how to get up and running using it as your audio interface on a Windows 10 PC and with Presonus Studio One 4.0 I walk you through setup and how to record the processed guitar as well as the DI or, Direct Input so that you can reamp at a later time.
  2. Hey Guys, Today we are going over the tone I created using the Line 6 HX Stomp using Ownhammer Impulse Responses. I go over each block, which IR I use as well as how to create snapshots so that you can use this tone as your main rhythm tone as well as a lead tone. If you have any questions, leave them down below and I'll do my best to help you out. Thanks again for all the support. To see all the things I'm up to, go to my webpage https://nickhillmakesmusic.com/

  7. Today we finally have the tone explanation for my Line 6 Helix Ambient Clean Tone. This tone uses the Line 6 Jazz Rivet 120 which is modeled after the Roland Jazz Chorus 120. Per usual, I am using Ownhammer Impulse Responses, specifically the OH 412 ZLNG V30 D57M+RFAT which is a blended IR of the Zilla 412 and is part of the Massively Multi-Mic set of the Zilla 412. Thanks again for everyone's support. I truly appreciate it.
  8. Hey guys, I've been sharing helix related material on here for some time. I recently released a solo, instrumental EP entitled Ample Chattels. All guitar and bass was recorded using my Helix Rack. Just wanted to share it with the community. Thanks so much for the support! https://nickhillmakesmusic.fanlink.to/bWip
  9. Today I walk through my guitar recording setup and my workflow. I've had a lot of questions so I figured we would go back to basics and see how it is we set stuff up. Here is the workflow: Line 6 Helix rack - UA Apollo Twin Duo - iMac - Presonus Studio One 4.0
  10. Today we take a look at the Duncan PowerStage 170. A solid-state, 170 watt, floorboard sized power amp perfect for powering a guitar cab with the Line 6 Helix or the effects processor of your choice. I ended up using it to do a shootout of a few of my mics… Shure SM 57 Dynamic Shure SM 7B Cardioid Dynamic Blue Bluebird Large Diaphragm Cardioid Condenser Audio Technica AT 2035 Large-Diaphragm Condenser I routed DI signals from my DAW, through the Line 6 Helix Rack, and into the Seymour Duncan PowerStage powering an Overton 212. Thanks to my buddy Patrick for loaning me this beast. The mics were tracked using my Universal Audio Apollo Twin Duo MkI The PowerStage is great. It gets SUPER LOUD with plenty of headroom for stage sound. I kept the 3 band EQ flat for this test. Some pretty great results. I was blown away at how these mics sound. **MAKE NOTE** I kept referring to the Audio Technica AT 2035 as the “ATH 2035.” Apologies My buddy Patrick aka “Gunderslam” https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCoZORROIhtqek7Tl329vGPg Seymour Duncan PowerStage 170 https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/PowerStage170--seymour-duncan-powerstage-170-170-watt-pedal-board-guitar-amp-head Shure SM 57 https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/SM57--shure-sm57 Shure SM 7B https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/SM7B--shure-sm7b-cardioid-dynamic-vocal-microphone Blue Bluebird https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/BluebirdSL--blue-microphones-bluebird-sl-large-diaphragm-condenser-microphone Audio Technica ATH 2035 https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/AT2035--audio-technica-at2035-large-diaphragm-condenser-microphone nickhillmakesmusic@gmail.com
  11. Hey Guys, Today I have yet another modern metal tone using the Line 6 Helix, Ownhammer Impulse Responses and the Line 6 Badonk amp model. I have two IR's stacked in this one using the phase trick I demonstrated in my video about IR's and how I use them. The song in this video is an original with the working title of Simplicity. This is one of my favorite, recent tracks. Thanks again for all the positivity and support and as always, if you have any questions or ideas, let me know in the comments. I try and get back to everyone.
  12. Hey Guys, I get a lot of question about IR's (impulse responses) and how to use them or how I use them. So today I hit on 3 key topics to help explain a bit about it. We touch briefly on what an IR is, where I prefer to get the ones I use and 1. Loading and Organizing 2. Mixing Mic's / Stacking of IR's and checking phase 3. IR overload (Having TOO MANY options) If you guys have any questions, drop a comment and I will do my best to answer them. Thanks so much for all the support. nickhillmakesmusic@gmail.com https://www.facebook.com/nickhillmakesmusic
  13. Greay question. I’ll do a video on it. It’s a combination of Superior Drummer and GetGood Drums
  14. Hi Guys Tonight's video is about bass guitar and how I use it to help shape my mixes and guitar tones. Think of it as a piece of a puzzle. I use a gnarly, heavy bass tone to compliment my guitars and it has a lot to do with how my mixes and over guitar tone work and sound. I try to explain my philosophy on bass guitar in heavy tracks and what should be occupying what sonic space. Drop some comments if you guys need more explanation or help with any other topic and like always, thanks for the support and positive feedback. 15. Hey Guys, Today I have a playthrough of my newest instrumental track, Beautiful Burden. This song was recorded using my Solar Guitars A 1.6 Artist LTD. All guitar and bass were tracked with the Line 6 Helix Rack using Ownhammer Impulses I’m really proud of how this track turned out. The gutters cut through and sound aggressive and heavy. That bass is low and gnarly and the overall mix may be one of my best. I'm thinking about releasing this as a single on all digital platforms. Let me know what you guys think and again, thanks so much for all the love and support. nickhillmakesmusic@gmail.com
  16. Guys, guys, it's simple, this is how I use it and it's the way I interpreted what Ownhammer wrote up. I find this works for me and like I state in the video, I like the result it yields THUS, my sharing in hopes someone can yield some similar result. If you guys can point me to a video of yours that would lead me in a better direction, I am absolutely, open to any help. I'm in this to help and create cool sounding lollipop, not question why someone decided to take whatever road to get there.
  17. Hey guys, Today we have an explanation and tone walkthrough of the "Simple Metal Tone," from the last tone video I posted. This one is super simple and would be a great use case for the HX Stomp. I used Ownhammer impulses of course and my Solar Artist A 1.6. The signal flow is as follows Solar A1.6 Artist - Line 6 Helix Rack - Ownhammer IR (OH 412 ENG V30 421-05) Universal Apollo Twin Presonus Studio One 4 nickhillmakesmusic@gmail.com https://www.facebook.com/nickhillmakesmusic https://www.twitter.com/nhillmakesmusic https://www.instagram.com/nickhillmakesmusic/ My Band | The Partisan Component https://thepartisancomponent.bandcamp.com/
  18. Hey Guys, Today I answer a question I've received a few times, Do I use global EQ settings with the Line 6 Helix? Short answer, yes. I go over what I do, the settings I use, and why.
  19. Hey guys, Guess what? Another Metal Tone! This was inspired by some of you asking if my Helix tones would work on HX Stomp. This tone uses only 5 FX blocks within Helix including a reverb block used for the ambiance that can easily be discarded bringing it down to only 4 blocks! For reference, HX Stomp is capable of handling up to 6 blocks. I am using my Solar Guitars A1.6 Artist with the Evertune bridge. This thing slays! Signal path: Solar Guitar A1.6 Artist - Line 6 Helix Rack - Univeral Apollo Twin Duo - Presonus Studio One 4 IRs Ownhammer OH ENG 412 V30 421-05
  20. Hey Guys, Today I have the explanation of the "Architects," tone I posted a few days ago. I had a lot of fun with this one. I used two Ownhammer Impulses OH 412 TRAD V70 121-00 and OH 412 TRAD V60 OH1F-05 Thanks so much for all the support, positive comments and input.
  21. Hey Guys, Today I have a Line 6 Helix Tone inspired by the amazing UK band Architects. The song is an original I wrote while playing around with this tone. I used two Ownhammer Impulses OH 412 TRAD V70 121-00 and OH 412 TRAD V60 OH1F-05 Explanation video to follow in the next few days. Thanks so much for all the support, positive comments and input. You guys are awesome.

  23. Hey Guys! I had several requests to break down the Bass Tone used in my recent Line 6 Helix Tone video, "Rectifire Rock." So here it is. I used the Line 6 SV Beast Brt amp model which is modeled after an Ampeg SVT Bright Channel. I used Ownhammer Impulses, specifically OH 410 AMPG SVT-10 PORT which is obviously an Ampeg SVT 4 x 10. Through a little FabFilter Pro Q and a bit of Waves L1 and we have a bass tone.
