2) I know EQ's can be used in many different ways. All I asked for is if this approach of patch building (placing a midfocus EQ after the amp before even trying amps) is right and reasonable judging from your personal experience.

I have Marshall Monitor headphones and I am really satisfied in general, but my advice would be not to expect having the best tone with the headphones. They cannot replace cabinets or speakers, no matter how much money you are willing to spend. I would suggest getting them only to play every once in a while when you can't play loud or to use them as refference when recording/mixing, but absolutely not for patch building. You won't get satisfying tones out of the headphones.

I am currently trying to get the best possible tone for my needs (heavy, mid-gain tone with lots of clarity and single string definition) using Dual Amps to see if I can get better results than having only 1 amp. And my questions are: 1. What would be the ideal or preferable setting for the mixer when using dual amps? (I want the 2 amps to blend with each other or when using the same amp: the 2 cabs to blend with each other, in order to make a huge mono track tone. Is this possible? How can I achieve it? Tips?) 2. I saw some people suggesting to start everything with placing a midfocus EQ after the amp to cut off the frequencies that are not needed (HP: 100Hz, LP:6k Hz) or even get a second midfocus EQ with the same settings before the amp, so that the amp would have less frequencies to process and more headroom in order to get better results of it. Is this technique reasonable and "right"? 3. Some people say that some EQ's are not reliable because they make the sound more digital. Is this true? Which EQ's would be best in order to get more natural sound and still boost or cut the needed frequencies? Which EQ's make the sound more digital? (I know that EQ's are different and they are being used for different things, but in order to chase the tone I want, I am willing to make the job done with different approaches than usual, just to have the best sounding tone.) P.S: I am not worried about DSP limits or many effects on the chain. All I want from the Pod is a huge amp/cab tone that would sound as natural as possible, without all the digital fizziness/fakeness. When I assure that, I am gonna add a screamer or my external OD that I use as a boost and some noise gates and then I would use EQ's. Any tips and suggestions are welcome and very much appreciated :) Thanks in advance!

Well I am looking at the forum all these days and no one else seems to refer to these bugs. Could we get some attention of the Line6 staff somehow? So they can be aware of that issue.

Sorry bro, but these EQ settings dont work for me with my 7string guitar at Drop G# or Open F. Exactly that.
-
a high pass filter at 100 Hz will kill a bit of your tone and a low pass filter at 6k will kill A LOT of your tone. a 4db parametric cut also might be a bit harsh In my opinion and personal experience you have to be more gentle with the EQ's and avoid cutting so much of your guitar's tone. That's why you should trust your ears every time. Also keep in mind that the eq settings that works for someone with a specific guitar/strings/pickups/amp/cab/mic, might not work for you as well.

You should get the latest flash memory firmware as Line 6 suggests, but you have to do the "Global Reset" after each flash memory update and then pedal calibration. Hope that helps :) http://line6.com/support/page/kb/_/pod/pod-hd/after-pod-hd500x500-flashre-flashupdate-man-r160 http://line6.com/support/page/kb/_/pod/pod-hd500-hd500x/pod-hd500xhd500-pedal-calibration-r161

You installed the 2.62 and it didn't work for you either, right?
-
aaaand nope. New updates didn't fix the bugs :D
-
Seems like the new update is addressed to these bugs. Thanks line 6 :) http://imgur.com/SaR78r5

I said no as well... Still got the bugs...
-
"Also is it a good idea to have the firmware overwrite everything then reload your bundle?" Still didn't get this part.
-
What are you talking about guys?
-
Yes I did.
-
I have the Input 1 to guitar always and input 2 to variax or variax mags
-
exactly that, but unfortunately I can't post these specific patches because they are not mine.
-
But I have downloaded the latest 500X Edit. Am I the only one that has these bugs?
-
I have never placed any volume pedal to any of my patches.
-
Why should I download and install HD500 Edit? I have a pod HD500X and I have updated everything about it.
-
what do you mean? just some random patches have no sound and some other have sound like they used to.
-
After installing firmware 2.61 and loading the full amp packet I noticed that when I am tweaking the amp/cab DEP knobs I can't see their percentages on my POD HD500X Edit software. Also some patches have no sound. When I load them, I get no sound. And the last bug I noticed is that sometimes when I am doing a dual amp setup and save it, every time I try to load it, the second amp has all its knobs on the amp section at 0% for no reason.

You are very kind! We can't thank you enough for all the information you have provided us!

I'm pretty new here, would you please share your settings of your input 1, input 2 and input Z?

Hi, I just finished installing the new firmware update and the modelpacks and I saw in the forum that I need to do a global update? http://line6.com/support/page/kb/_/pod/pod-hd/after-pod-hd500x500-flashre-flashupdate-man-r160 and then a Pedal Calibration? http://line6.com/support/page/kb/_/pod/pod-hd500-hd500x/pod-hd500xhd500-pedal-calibration-r161 Could anyone confirm that these are true and mandatory? P.S: I haven't reboot my Pod yet in order to see if it's all done, because I was worried about the consequences of not doing a global update: "If you do not do this, one of the tell-tale symptoms that may surface after a Monkey Flash Memory update is that the HD500 will be stuck in a continuous re-boot/power cycling state (you'll keep seeing the Logo and the unit keeps re-starting itself). Sometimes this may not occur, but a secondary telltale sign that a user has not performed a Global Settings reset is the USB communication between the HD500 and HD500 Edit software will be extremely slow/sluggish."

Thank you for accepting my apology and I should thank @phil_m too, who made me realize that I misbehaved. Do you find good results with res being set to 0 in both cab sims? I think I had tried placing res to 0 in the past, but I didn't like the tone that much. Do you guys think that this is all about? Killing the resonance and everything is good to go? P.S: I had totally given up on Pod and I was waiting for the v2.6 to be realised so I can see if it's worth to try again. :/
