  1. I was trying to build a good dual amp setup with 2 x 5150 and when I tried to cut off some ugly high frequencies with the parametric EQ, the signal got distorted. Is this a bug? Can anyone give me a tip or tell me what am I doing wrong? Here is the patch: https://www.dropbox.com/s/jo6xl7hy6842rgr/Distorted%20signal.5xe?dl=0 Just turn on the parametric EQ and see what happens.
  2. I have noticed as well that the 5150 adds a lot of fizz. Also when I used a dual amp setup with two 5150 and tried to cut off the ugly frequencies with the parametric the tone went full distorted. I don't know if that's a bug or something, but I gave up on this setup. Generally, I found that lowering the presence at 20% helped with the fizziness in that particular model. Also I avoid using the 57 on axis mic. Do you mean that you usually use gain at 20-30% ? Isn't that too low? What kind of music do you play with this patch?
  3. I dont think that the ugly frequencies has to do only with single coils and humbuckers pickups. Some amps, mics and cabs add fizziness as well.
  4. Those studio monitors are not "cheap" at all. They are really good at what the do. They are all very flat as far as I have heard. Especially the KRK and the Yamaha
  5. Seems like this is the closest you can get. Theoratically it will work.
  6. Hey pfsmith0, could you please tell us more about the Decay? What does it do at 0% and what does it do when you slowly raise it? What would be the ideal setting in order to have the most natural sound out of it? Thanks in advance!

    Fizz...

    1) Don't use low pass filter at 3k. You are killing a lot of your guitar's tone. You should set your low pass filter at around 7k. 2) Parametric EQ is the best tool to kill Fizz, after the right cab/mic selection. There is not "the one method or the other". Both are good for different reason. You can use both EQ's together.
  8. Will those headphones do the work or should I keep playing through my Marshall Monitor Headphones? http://www.thomann.de/gr/samson_sr850.htm I know they are cheap, but they have open back and good dynamic range... What do you guys say?
  9. Thanks for you answers guys! I really appreciate that!
  10. May I ask what do you do with the gain and the output setting though? How do you set these in order to use the vintage pre EQ only as a high and low pass filter? Also, do you know what the phase setting does exactly? I have read some things about it, but I would like to hear another, more "practical" opinion maybe. Thanks in advance.
  11. Try 2 parametrics with the exact same settings. 84/% Freq, 100% Gain, 50-60% Q. This will give you a 24dB boost. If you want to go at 30dB boost, try adding a 3rd parametic with gain 70-80% and the same settinings. Hope this helps. EDIT: Also, to be sure of what I am saying or to have an image about how these EQ will stack up, you can download a spectrum analyzer and examine them using white/pink noise.
  12. Pfsmithi0, thank you for all the valuable information you have provided us with. Do you plan measuring the frequency respnse of the new amps in the future? That would be great! Thanks again!
  13. I bought my Pod HD500X 2 and a half months ago from Thomann.
  14. It was the firmware that was in the Pod when I bought it.
  15. This has happened to me twice as well..
  16. Hey guys. I am a noob. How can I send white or pink noise in the Pod to see how the pedals react in a spectrum analyzer? Thanks in advance.
  17. I own the Marshall Monitor which is closed back headphones and the biggest difference I noticed (with refference an old Passive Philips system) was the extremely disturbing high end/fizziness. I didn't have any problem with the bass. The huge problem I had was the high frequencies. I couldn't dial them out, till I told myself to give up trying to build a decent tone with headphones. It was impossible and extremely disappointing experience for me. And when I tried to play through that Philips system, it all went out smooth and nicely. I don't know if you have experienced anything similar...
  18. No one ever suggested to me open back headphones. I haven't even heard of them before... :S What are the main differences with the normal headphones?
  19. Thanks for the enlightment. I was also wondering about that.
  20. Then the headphones is the only solution, but keep in mind that the sound you will be getting from them will be A LOT different and you will have to do some adjustments if you want to play for a long time. That's my experience with my Marshall Monitor. I bought them around 160 euros. P.S: I suggest you try the headphones before you buy them, so you can see if they are comfortable enough for your head and ears. I had trouble get used to mine.
  21. Very good idea! I hope that they will do it some day.

    Next gen. HD

Good idea, but this kind of model would be addressed to only a very small amount of buyers. To the ones who know what they want
  23. I am not sure how am I supposed to use this. Is this a normal volume pedal?
