    DT25 Combo default speaker output

I just noticed that my DT25 combo has the onboard speaker plugged into the 16ohm output labelled C. It has been like this since NEW. However, on the back of the speaker I can clearly see it states 8 ohms. Which speaker output should the onboard speaker be plugged into? Should it be plugged into one of the 8 ohm outputs labelled B? Also - will having the speaker plugged into the 16ohm output when it is in fact an 8 ohm output damage either the speaker or the amp?
  2. I've had my Helix LT for a few days now and am loving it. Ive tried it connected in all kinds of ways but the best sounding by far is using the Helix LT's amps and then going straight into the effects return of my Peavey ValveKing II 50-watt open-back combo. The sound just comes to life, especially when I use a pre-amp like the Fender Deluxe. So this opens up the question, can any FRFR speakers come close to that open-back sound? Should I keep the Peavey or will something else work? This is maddening - too many options HA HA!
  3. I was playing guitar a few year ago and recently have decided to start playing again. Have ordered POD HD500X yesterday! Mainly going to play alone or with backtracks playing from phone or computer connected to POD HD500X. Maybe in future will also buy an electric piano to play together with my wife from time to time :) I'm stuck with choosing an output device to buy. I'd like to spend no more than $350. First question: combo or pair of monitors? With monitors I can get stereo sound and I heard there are some effects which use stereo, but I'm not sure I really need this... Second question: which particular model to choose in the price range? Here are some options and my thoughts about them. Please note, I didn't try any of these amplifiers and monitors. Combo amps: * Fender Mustang II V2 40-Watt 1x12-Inch, $200. Lots of good feedback on this series on reddit. Looks like plenty of people using them and are pretty happy. * Yamaha THR10, $300. I heard from a friend it has really great sound! But I'm not sure about this, is that it has amp modelling too. I'm buying HD500X, which does this job already, so I suppose I'll use "Flat" mode on the combo. Then why to pay for the rest? * Line 6 Spider IV 15 15-watt 1x8 Modeling Guitar Amplifier, $100. Great reviews and very cheap. 15 watt probably will be enough to play at home? * Line 6 Spider IV 30 30-watt 1x12 Modeling Guitar Amplifier, $200. Bigger speaker. * Marshall MG30CFX MG Series 30-Watt, $200. * Fender Champion 40, $180 * Orange Crush Pix CR35LDX 1x10" 35-Watt Combo w/FX Orange, $250. But I probably don't need any fx... * Roland CUBE-10GX 10W 1x8 Guitar Combo Amp, $130 Combo amps with tubes: * Orange Micro Terror 20-Watt Head + Orange PPC108 1x8" 20-Watt Speaker Cabinet 8-ohm Orange, $100 + $150. Tube! * Vox VT20PLUS 20-Watt 1x8 Guitar Combo Amplifier, $180. Tube! * Laney Amps CUB All TUBE Series CUB 10 10-Watt 1x10 Guitar Combo Amplifier, $250. Tube! Monitors: * KRK RP5G3-NA Rokit 5 Generation 3 Powered Studio Monitor, $300 for pair. * JBL LSR305 5-inch Two-Way Powered Studio Monitor, $270 for pair. * Yamaha HS5 Powered Studio Monitor, $400 for pair with cables and stands. * Behringer Truth B1030a High-Resolution, Active 2-Way Reference Studio Monitors, $300 for pair. In my understanding these monitors are pretty a bottom line for monitors. I don't have in plans to make recordings in nearest future. I don't even have a nice table to place them on (working on a laptop). So maybe these are other reasons to buy a better combo amp, than cheap monitors. But if only a lot of guitarist who uses POD HD500X will say that using combo with all modelling power of HD500X doesn't make sense, then I'm ready to find a good place for monitors at my place :) --- So the first questions first please: combo amp or active monitors? :) Thanks in advance!
  4. I am currently looking to buy the new Line 6 Spider V 240 Combo amp. The only thing keeping me from pulling the trigger on the purchase is whether or not I can connect the combo amp to a speaker cabinet. Is it possible to connect the V 240 Combo to an external 212 or 412 cabinet?
  5. Just wondering, what is the impedance of the DT50 combo's 2x12? Can't seem to find the info online. Anyone use external heads with their combo's cab/speakers?
  6. Hey guys! I am contemplating selling my DT25 combo and HD500x for a Helix, thoughts? I also have a JTV 59, if that influences the decision.
  7. Hello everyone, I'm new to the forum and I just got a DT50 212 Combo to join my POD HD500X and I need some advice. I want to Loop with distortion for in a live concert. I mean, Record a Rhythm with Distortion, Loop it, and Solo over with Distortion. Just like Paul Gilbert does in this video (at 1:47): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oc0yCiCvy6Y He uses an AB pedal to switch between 2 amps, one for Rhythm and another amp for Solo. Can I do this with one HD500X and just one DT50 212 Combo? Or do I need to buy another DT50 212 Combo? Or maybe one DT50 Head and use the speakers of the DT50 212 Combo? Is it possible at all? If not what's your advice for playing live with loops? Backing tracks? Thanks in advance. Pedro
  8. Hey there, Before i bought a pod hd, i literally crawled through the web to see whether someone has experience in using the pod with a wireless and/or h&k switchblade combo and control everything with an mk2 shortboard. I didn’t find anything usefull so for anyone out there looking for this setup this is for you. First, my signal chain goes like this: >> XLR-Out >> Mic-In POD HD Pro Guitar >> Wireless Shure SLX14 >>FX Return H&K Switchblade Combo 50 (without -10db) >> Unbalanced Out >> LineL/Mono in POD HD Pro The Wireless is at -10db Mic-Input is at 100% (just to make the setup easier) Bass-Reduction is active -20db is active For the standard patches i use mainly only one pre-amp per patch. Several amps have very...i mean very low output (e.g. the VOX AC 30 TB) i try to figure out if this is my error or by design. Any tip is appreciated. The sound? it’s absolutely fantastic. Much more than i was hoping for. It was actually so good, that i put all my effect pedals aside and don't use a 4CM method. I didn't sell them yet, because the pod has to prove itself road-able. It’s in a SKB-Rack with short cables to the wireless, but it has to take some smashing and staking etc. so, we'll see. For high gains i use sometimes up to 2 noise gates (threshold lower than 40% to avoid weird sounds). The Switchblade is just set to the clean channel, with everything turned off, and the B/M/T/G are in middle position. Maybe you add a tick more presence, since this will give some more punch to the tone. And our technician showed me a glorious trick: If you would like to just add gain, but not volume, assign the drive to the exp. Pedal with your desired value in max. and min. then assign the output of the same distortion effect to the same exp. Pedal, but set the max.-value to e.g. 30% and the min. value to e.g. 100%. You need to twiddle a bit so you get the amount right. With that setup, you add gain and lower output and vice versa. Hope this helped. Cheers exile
  9. I have a line 6 spider valve 212 mk1 40w combo amp. Im looking to attatch an extention 4x12 cabinet to it for my bands live performances. I have 2 celestian 16 ohm speakers. What speaker specs for the cabinet as far as ohms can i use to work with the combo amp... i have multiple output jacks..... 8 ohm pair, 4 ohm single, 8 ohm out, preamp out and power amp in. along with a direct out. Which of these can u use with a compatible cabinet, and what would the specs of a compatible cabinet be?

Using Hd300 Live With A Combo

Help required, frustration levels mounting and I'm spending precious practice time trawling forums! Hi, I've. Been using my HD 300 for quite some time now in my home studio set up. I have a number of patches I'm happy with, everything was sweet. I recently got the chance to jam with a few other musicians and so want to use the Pod with my amp, a Marshall tube combo. This is where my troubles started, I haven't been able to set a decent tone in the pod and it seems to wreck the tone of my combo. I've set the outputs for live use and combo input. I've hooked the pod to the effects loop on my amp and set my amp to its clean channel. I started by taking the patches I already have and removing the power amp and speakers. Clean amps sound fine, the blackface is great. Choosing a higher gain amp and adding any pre amp gain results in a fizzy distortion which sounds like I've added a cheap distortion pedal. No end of tweaking bass/mid/treble has been able to improve this, although I can go from low end mud to sizzling bacon, nothing sounds quite right. I want to be able to set up a basic A/B/C/D bank with clean, crunch, gain and solo boost settings for live use. Am I missing some crucial setting or secret here? Should I discard the amp sims and rely on my combo, using the Pod simply as a pedal board? My amps channel switch pedal is bust though! Thanks in advance.
