  1. I was hoping someone one here has tried a power cab and also a seymour duncan power stage into a 2x12 or 4x12 with their helix. I am digging my helix, but currently using a headrush frfr. The frfr is fine for home use, but once i play with people and crank it up, it just sounds like a cheaper two way speaker. There is no where for me to test out a powercab in my area and you tube doesn't really do any justice to actual in the room sounds a lot of times. I play mainly heavy distortion duel rec type stuff on vintage 30's. I was debating a powerstage 170 and a 2x12 with vintage 30's or a power cab plus 212. Just wondering if anyone can compare tone and feel. If the power cab plus has the same tone and feel, or at least really close, it would be nice to have the option to change speakers. I do miss the feel of a real 2x12 with the headrush. I apologize if this topic has been disused on here as I can not find it. If it has please direct me and ill read on!!!! Thanks!!!!
  2. Download link: https://www.dropbox.com/s/bfibnuenvsp7bwo/ML Sound Lab FREE Recto.zip?dl=0 Try it with this better free IR as well: http://bit.ly/MLSoundLab So I've been tweaking modelers for a long time and the way I build presets is pretty unique. I have a bunch of real tube amps around and there's nothing quite like the satisfaction of capturing that sound and recreating it perfectly with a modeler. Anyways have fun with the free sample of an ML Sound Lab Amp Pack and if you want to hear more about it please visit: http://www.ml-sound-lab.com
  3. While my new Amplifi 150 is in the shop (power issues?), I took the plunge and bought a CRATE powerblock to use with my trusty Pod XTLive board - and used the Crate powerblock only as a power amp into my Fender 4x12 cabinet. It worked like a champ. You do need to configure the OUTPUT setting on the Line 6 Pod XT LIVE (I chose power amp, not direct) - but that's usually the case. Guitar into Line 6 Pod XT Live Line 6 Pod left + right outputs --> Crate Powerblock LINE IN (L&R) Crate Powerblock L&R outputs ---> Cabinet (The Fender 4x12 mustang cabinet can be configured to be stereo) You can see in the picture, pretty easy setup. Note: during a live show, I always use my Boss Tuner (just used to it I guess) and I had bought the Behringer Ultra Shifter/Harmonist US600 Processor pedal so I easily drop to an Eb if needed. Versatile little pedal. (and yes, that's a Kramer 5150 replica, which I use for the fun Van Halen party tunes at the end of the night - always fun to play and usually a few guitiarists in the crowd appreciate it.) Crate powerblock was $100 on Craigslist I've previously used the Pod XT live into a Roland Keyboard amp (KB300) but it's very bass-y. And it's only 1 speaker (albeit powerful). Having a 4x12 was helpful as it filled the stage (an outside benefit show). I spent a lot of time pondering the FRFR (Full Range, Flat Response) route - but this was just as powerful, much more affordable, and flexible. Plus, the stereo effects were nice to hear on stage. Hope this helps someone pondering power-amps in a live situation (like me a few weeks ago).
  4. I recently purchased a line 6 4x12 cab to go with my HD150 head, I also have a raven 4x12 and thought I would try to hook the head up to two cabinets. This looks kind of silly but I dig the tone mixture from these two different cabs. I have used this a little bit already at low practice volume but if I can I would like it as a rig in my band setup. I am very worried about damaging the cab/blowing speakers etc. and would like to know if this is safe to use. I have attached some pictures of what I'm dealing with.
  5. Hey guys, So I've recently picked up the DT50, and one of the 4x12 cabs with the Celestion V30s in it (sounds friggin killer), but lately I've noticed a slight buzz when i'm playing heavier palm muted notes, especially on the decay of the note. I've taken the back off the cabinet and tightened all the screws on the speakers and everything looks fine, but I'm still getting some of that buzz. I think its coming from the center post (that's stapled to the front of the cab, and then the back panel screws into it). I was thinking of maybe putting some poster putty (the blue stuff) around the edges and working it in there, because I'm hesitant to just glue it all up. Do any of you guys have experience with this, or have you done anything else to your 4x12 to get rid of any unwanted sounds? I've done some research, and seen a few forum posts about similar things, but I figured I'd give a shout out to the L6 community. Thanks! -Jason
  6. I have a line 6 spider valve 212 mk1 40w combo amp. Im looking to attatch an extention 4x12 cabinet to it for my bands live performances. I have 2 celestian 16 ohm speakers. What speaker specs for the cabinet as far as ohms can i use to work with the combo amp... i have multiple output jacks..... 8 ohm pair, 4 ohm single, 8 ohm out, preamp out and power amp in. along with a direct out. Which of these can u use with a compatible cabinet, and what would the specs of a compatible cabinet be?
  7. I am using the HD100 MKII head with an old crate blue voodoo 4x12 slant cabinet. The cab has celestion green backs installed. The problem is the most bizarre thing I have ever seen. At moderate volumes the 4x12 will spit the 1/4" cable out the back of the cab. It tends to happen when the cab is flat on the floor without the wheels installed. Any thoughts on why this is happening. I have used a marshall tsl60 through this cabinet for years and never had this problem before. Any thoughts on this??? Thanks!
  8. Hi, I need some advice to match my Spider III 4x12 cab with a Krank Rev Jr Pro. The spider cab has two 8ohms inputs running in stereo and the left side input running 4 ohms in mono, my amp has a 16/8 ohms switch, i would like to know if it will be rigth to connect my amp with the swiitch in 8 ohms, to the right side of the spider cab, will this deactivated the left side of the spider cab, letting me use the 8 ohms side of the cab? thanks for your help!
