Who criticed whom? This thread, and this forum in particular, was indeed made to get other people's opinion, share personal experiences, discuss about them and learn from each other. And I was really eager to start a constructive conversation with this guy and share my personal experiences since I have gotten decent results with the tube comp and he has gotten good result with the red comp. Now, claiming to use a specific compressor pedal over another because of its' color is just sad and it shows "bad manners", in my opinion. I wouldn't be so derisive with no reason to a complete stranger. I always try to be polite with everyone in here because that's the right thing to do. But then again, it might be just me that I have misjudged things. :) Either way, if you can't see my point, I will just leave this conversation here. Have a nice day people :)

really dude?

Is there any specific reason you use red comp over tube comp? I always used tube comp since its the most transparent compressor pedal on the Pod HD.

What is your point though? The greatest thing about Technology is that it keeps moving on, offering better and more affordable/convenient choices most of the time. So I don't find anything wrong in trying new things. To the contrary, I find it incredibly interesting how all these new digital equipment manage to emulate the warmth and the character of real tube amps or even make new amp sims that couldn't exist in the real world. Therefore, I love learning about new equipment and I am always open to new things.

According to MeAmBobbo's guide you are wrong. Hard gate has 64 delay in samples. http://imgur.com/EzZuwA8

Am I the youngest in here?? Im 21 years old and I bought my first Pod 4 months ago... I never thought people at your age would tend to use digital equipment and stuff. I don't try to be mean, it's a compliment, don't get me wrong. My dad is around 60 and he can't even open a Personal Computer. And most of the older guys I know that play the guitar prefer tube amps and have never played through digital equipment. That's really nice! We 've got some bright and open-minded people in here!

Hey guys, I have recently seen people claiming that 1 hard gate can be a lot better than 2 or 3 noise gates combined in different spots on the signal chain. I only use Noise Gates because I don't know how to use Hard Gates and by my personal experience, I can't say I am satisfied with the Noise Gates. What's your personal experiences on this? How do you set your Hard Gate? Can we gather some tips and information about this very important subject?

You just select the format that your unit works. If you have a Pod HD500X for example, it will be ".5xe". After that you select the format of the file you want to convert. Then you select the folder that the file you want to convert is in and at last you run it. Hope this helps.

I'm willing to participate in this! I think it's a great idea!

I have been trying so hard to get closer to Mark Holcomb's tone from Periphery but it's so difficult since there are drums, bass and vocals on the same track (Pale Aura) That's why I need someone to record a mono track of 5-6 seconds with a certain preset that I will give him, so I can listen closely to only the guitar and try to dial in the tone in my Pod HD. I can trade with anyone willing to help me some Axe FX's presets I bought (3 tone packs). Thanks in advance!

Thanks man! :)

Thanks for your opinion man! I really appreciate it! I will try these stuff and some other I have in mind and post again with the result!

My deep cab settings are generally Low cut: around 80-100, Res: 0-15%, Thump: 25%, Decay: 35% I only use the Edit program to build my tones.

According to Pfsmith0, the Class A-15 amp is the flattest, the 121 ribbon mic is the flattest and the Blackface ‘Lux Cab is also the flattest. Channel Volume = 100%  E.R. = 0%  Class A-15 full adjusted for flat frequency response  Bass = 25%  Cut = 70%  Treble = 18%  Pres = 40%  Drive = 64% to give THD = 1%.  Amp DEP settings:  Hum = 0%  Master = 100%  All others (Sag, Bias, Bias X) = 50%  Cab DEP settings: all 0%  121 Ribbon mic since it has the flattest frequency response (slightly better than the 4038 Ribbon in my opinion) So if I were you I would try this setup as I think it will give you the most transparent amplification. The other solution I can think of (and please someone correct me if I am wrong), is to create a blank patch and just raise the mixer level. This will give you a completely dry signal. Hope these help. Try them and tell us if it worked :) Good luck!

Don't you think that the biggest problem in my tone is that it is kinda digital/fake? I don't know how to avoid this... Switching cabinets: I don't think it will work, because I have used a combo of 2 cabs and mics that didn't have sample differencies and it felt really good without tweaking much Thanks for your opinion though...
-
Good luck man. I think most of us would want to have an Axe FX in our hands someday, despite of all the people saying that they are completely happy with the Line 6. I don't mean to offend these people, I'm just saying that the Axe FX is superior. For sure, you have to give 4 or 5 times the money, but the result in my opinion is worth it. This unit can get so damn close to the sound of a real amp...

Here is my first attempt of approaching Jake's Bowen tone from Periphery. https://soundcloud.com/giwrgos-andrhs/jake-bowen-tone-summer-jam Any tip on how to get even closer to that tone is highly appreciated and any comment is welcome :) Thanks.

Nope, you can't see the values. All you can see is a bar, not the percentages.. like the rest of us.

I see your point. I just had this principal to place Resonance always to 0, since Digital Igloo said these things for the Resonance Cab DEP.
-
Increasing the Resonance boosts some of the low end and some of the high end. This means that a bit of fizziness is being added indeed. Resonance is an external effect added on the cabs. But I guess you already know all this stuff. I don't know why you perceive it like this... Thanks :)
-
Are you sure you mean increasing and not decreasing the resonance? Maybe if you tried adding some more E.R.? Sometimes E.R. helps thickening the tone. Could you link your source(s)? Seems like really interesting info. I would really like to read the whole article.
