I can't connect to the editor on my Helix Stadium XL
bbehrens replied to i00i8654's topic in Helix Stadium
It sounds like you're having trouble connecting your Helix Stadium XL to the Helix Stadium app on your computer. Here are a few things to check: 1. Network Connection: Make sure both your Helix Stadium XL and your computer are connected to the same Wi-Fi network. They may not be able to communicate if they're on different networks. Check that the Wi-Fi signal is strong and stable for both devices. I use SpeedTest.NET to test connectivity and connection speed. 2. App Version: Ensure you’re running the latest version of the Helix Stadium app on your computer. Sometimes, compatibility issues arise if either the app or device firmware is outdated. The latest version on the Firmware is v1.2.1. The latest version of the App is v1.2.1. The latest version of the Stadium USB Driver is 0.0.3 (Recommended and required for audio). 3. Firewall/Security Settings: Sometimes, firewalls or security software on your computer might block the connection. Try temporarily disabling your firewall or antivirus and see if that helps. 4. Restart Everything: Restart both your Helix Stadium XL and the computer to clear any temporary connectivity issues. 5. App Settings: Check the app’s settings on your computer to ensure it's looking for the Helix Stadium XL and not another device. 6. Confirm your Stadium XL WiFi Settings: It sounds like you are getting intermittent connectivity issues. Honestly, it will be nice when Line 6 makes the Stadium App connectivity over USB. Wired connections are typically much better and reliable. Ensure that you are getting the best WiFi signal possible. If you are, then you might want to clear your WiFi settings and try connecting the Helix again. Sometimes a second connection gets better results. There are also a few users that have optimized Windows Ethernet settings that have had some success. Good Luck. If none of this works, you may want to reach out to Helix’s customer support for troubleshooting specific to your model. -
Setting SPDIF as standard output for all presets
bbehrens replied to karimkamel's topic in Helix Stadium
I am not sure that S/PDIF is a default. Matric 1/4", XLR, and Phones are definitely a default. But you can set it per preset so S/PDIF is possible. I am just not sure that you can set it globally to ALWAYS be the default out. Have you tried setting the Is/Outs from the Global Settings for S/PDIF Out to Direct Out. Still, I think that is for how the S/PDIF gets sent and not for a default on the presets. Let us all know if you find a solution. Otherwise, suggest it to Line 6 to add this capability if you don't. -
There are specific requirements for Cab IR Import and Export. See the manual here: https://manuals.line6.com/en/helix-stadium/live/cab-blocks#cab-irs While it appears to accept any 10214 or 2048 .wav file, it may be best to be sure to export the IR file from HX Edit prior to Importing into Stadium. If you do not have HX Edit, then I would suggest filing a bug report with Line 6.

Bug Report: Snapshot settings not applied correctly in Snapshots
bbehrens replied to bbehrens's topic in Helix Stadium
I continue to see this issue on my Helix Stadium and I ONLY build Presets via the Stadium Unit (Not the App) from scratch every time. But I will say that it occurs MUCH less frequently now that I am doing the following: 1. Update to v 1.2.1 2. Build your preset only on the Stadium Unit (Do not use the App, unless you are trying to reproduce this bug. 3. Be sure to Save your preset as you build it on the Stadium unit regularly. Side Note: I typically document my settings in an Microsoft Excel Spreadsheet as a reference as I build presets (though this can introduce human error so I recommend being very careful and accurate by double checking everything if you suspect an issue. -
This is not normal behavior. USB connectivity is typically very solid regardless of the device. However, make sure that you are using thev0.3 Line 6 USB Driver as this driver is required for use with the Helix Stadium. The USB connectivity should be stable for Windows 11 and Mac/OS platforms for connectivity for Audio to/from PC/laptops. If not, then there may be an issue with your unit. Open a ticket with Line 6 support if you have verified the Line 6 USB driver and the USB-C to USB-C cable. The Helix Stadium has several shortcomings compared to it's predecessor. But I think that Line 6 has plans that will address these issues. And none of them are crippling for me. However, there are other units such as the new smaller footprint Quad Cortex that are viable alternatives. But if you are a Helix die-hard, as I am, then I recommend sticking with the Helix for at least a year before just giving up on it.

I think for Church guitar players such as myself, this is the platform to choose. The editing is SOOOO easy compared to the OG Helix, and in my opinion, other units as well. I seriously looked at the Axe FX but that is ONLY a rack mount unit. But I think that the Stadium still does not beat it for number of amp models, FX models, and DSP. Still, PROXY COULD be GREAT! Showcase has DEFINATE potential for practicing. And I really hope a DAW editor comes out eventually. I don't like re-recording to get the sound into my DAW when I can change things on the fly with the Helix plugin. I still have not figured out to organize things in the Stadium. On the OG Helix, I can dozens of full set lists for everything from Templates to Basic Amp Settings, to Reverbs, to Ambient. I have a great vintage Set list based on the top 50 guitar tones of all time (An old Guitar World article). I have thousands of presets on my computer, hundreds of worship presets for my church (and many variations of many of the songs as well). My favorites has outgrown 128 that the Helix can handle, and I regularly use about 150-160 Impulse Response files. Unfortunately, the Stadium can not handle these either. At least, I have not figured out if it can yet or not. Line 6 has been rather confusing on these. I can add that there is a four Amp (2 per DSP - and there are STILL just 2 DSP paths in the Stadium), and eight (I think) Cab Block artificial limitations. 1 looper limitation and 1 Poly block (per type of Poly block limitations) I call them "artificial" because there might be enough DSP to accommodate more but Line 6 does not allow it in the editor. That being said, I HAVE found that having 20 stomp boxes is a little overkill for most anything that I can come up with. And I don't really get why people want to run a whole band through this box (though Line 6 has pushed the "run your whole Live show through the Stadium - Lights, Effects, and band" narrative with this unit).

April. I will look forward to it. I placed my order for the D10 when I placed my order for the Helix Stadium. I got it the date that the 1.20 update came out. And I have run into a plethora of issues (primarily with the Stadium App editor. But there are still issues with the Stadium unit. Last night I swear that I lost a preset that I was working on even though I was repeatedly saving during the build process. Really NOT sure what was going on because that was the only time THAT issue has happened but it was quite distressing! I think that PROXY will come out in April as well (a guess), unless they have issues with the online service, which is likely in my experience. The number of users and the number of proxy cloning requests will be critical in their roll out.

I have put together a preliminary spreadsheet of the DSP usage in the Line 6 Helix Stadium. My DSP usage spreadsheet for the OG> Helix was pretty accurate, but could be off as much as .03%. The new Stadium estimates are even more generalized as all blocks are at least 1.25% (such as the Volume pedal and that was just .69% in the OG Helix). Surprisingly, most of the DSP gains are in the Legacy amps from the OG Helix. Most of the other blocks are a little less DSP (percentage-wise). Though some are even MORE DSP intensive. Which is odd since the most of the blocks have not changed and the percentage of DSP used SHOULD be less since there is more DSP "room" in the Stadium. This does tell me that they will be improving the DSP usage of ALL of the blocks in the (somewhat) near future. Or far future. Eric Klein was right about those Agoura Amps. They take as much or more of the same percentage of DSP as some of the more DSP heavy Legacy Amp models in the OG Helix.

Line 6 Expand D10 was announced in June 2025 along with the Helix Stadium. But no ship date on the horizon yet? I know that I am just asking for more headaches but I have already paid a lot of money for Line 6 for promises that we are all still waiting for. My Helix Stadium is not my primary rig yet. And Rhett Shull has not been able to put his faith into the Stadium yet either. I know that Line 6 will get it's act together and the Stadium will be a compelling unit to buy. But as time marches on and problems don't go away, and hardware fails to get delivered, things may change. Permanently.

patch leveling and setlist change after the save
bbehrens replied to PaulTBaker's topic in Helix Stadium
I have not had this issue but the Stadium is not my primary rig right now. I have level set checked my presets before by using the 3 OSC Generator to generate a tone and checking with YouLean Loudness meter. It can provide a solid baseline for level setting but has to be close to the input and does take up a block. But I have also used a Looper so that I can catch playing dynamics, which the 3 OSC Generator can't do. -
Will there be Agoura pedals, particularly distortion/fuzz/OD
bbehrens replied to Simbosan's topic in Helix Stadium
Eric Klein demonstrated cloning of Amps, Cabs, and Distortion Pedals at NAMM. It makes me wonder what kinds of pedals will be able to be cloned through the "Dolly" cloning process. (Can't remember the name though I know that it is a sheep. Baaa Baaa.) -
Possible new bug? Presets seem to appear changed when nothing changed.
bbehrens replied to bverdon's topic in Helix Stadium
A change will occur to a Preset if the volume pedal has changed position as well. My Volume pedal is pretty stable on the Stadium but the Volume Pedl on my OG Helix would not always be at exact 0%. And it is now impossible to tell on the Stadium since there is nothing to indicate that the Volume/Wah Pedal is at 100% or 0% or whatever (an annoyance I hope that they will correct in the future. -
This explains why, even though I cut the split by -3.0 dB, I still get problems with Unity gain. Nice observation. Like on the OG Helix, I can use this to my advantage instead of using gain blocks for volume builds in my presets. I just have to be careful of where I put them and what blocks come before and after them as some blocks are additive (such as Reverb and Delay. Still, it CAN be useful.

Yes. USB for Audio and WiFi for Stadium App editing. I have been using the Stadium App since the release of v1.2.1 to see what issues still persist and to see if I can re-create them. So far, v1.2.1 looks a lot better than v 1.2.0. But there are still bugs that I have run across. Mainly with Preset/Snapshot state.

Bug Report: Snapshot settings not applied correctly in Snapshots
bbehrens replied to bbehrens's topic in Helix Stadium
I have previously traced this issue to the underlying .hsp JSON file. I am not entirely sure, as I no longer develop these days, but I think that once the file is corrupted, it is not likely to self-correct and the file is permanently corrupted. This SHOULD be a very high priority issue for Line 6. But we must be patient as these types of tracking issues can be elusive, have multiple causes, and be hard to track down and correct. I have run into this issue still in v1.2.1, so it has not been entirely corrected as yet. -
A search including an apostrophe won't find any matching presets.
bbehrens replied to Nos402's topic in Helix Stadium
Funny. Line 6 has been often noted for paying attention to their customer base. My guess is that they are under a lot of pressure for getting a solid competitive product out since other modelers that have come out with more features over the last 10 years have gained a lot of ground. Line 6 has banked a lot of good will from their customer base. We will see if it lasts as long as they think that it will if they don't fix the Stadium issues and continue treating their customers as their source of income. -
I agree... ...mostly. You have never used Reaper DAW. The number of bugs in that software and the inconsistency in it's documentation you can probably count on one hand since it was launch over a decade ago. Best developer I have ever seen. It is THE ONLY software that I will update without even thinking about compatibility issues or bugs. And that is saying something about Audio processing on multiple platforms.

I routinely squeezed every drop of DSP from the OG Helix (down to hundredths of a percent). And I have come close to maxing out one of the DSP's so far in the Stadium. But I have never had any issues except for the Stadium not respecting the MAX DSP in one of the blocks, that I feel may still be there, but I have not had time to test. It appears that Line 6 has been a little conservative in the their DSP block estimations on the Helix Stadium. It appears to allocate DSP memory per block as the OG Helix did as well. So far my analysis has shown values quite different from the OG Helix which I did not expect. Also, I can clearly see that the FX Loops and Splits have also been allocated more than I thought they were ever on the OG Helix. The Cab block has been maxed out to something similar to the OG Helix but it is a dual Cab block by default anyway so that just simplifies things. I have had no problems since the 1.2.1 update but I have been building my DSP spreadsheet (which I am sure will change if it has not already with the 1.2.1 update) and so I have not properly Stress tested it. I am interested to know of any issues with DSP allocation and bugs.

Okay. I figured it out. WIERD, but I figured it out. I now see that the Stadium XL is connected via USB (USB icon) and the Stadium is connected via Wifi (Network icon). Line 6 has never been perfect at naming consistency!

The Stadium App still disconnects from the Stadium Unit over my Wifi every once in a while. It finds the Stadium and connects just fine when I initially start the Stadium App. However, when the Stadium App loses connectivity with the Stadium Unit and I try to connect the Stadium in the Stadium App, I get the message that the App successfully updated to 1.2.1 and the Stadium App will simply not find and connect to the Stadium. However, if I close the Stadium App and restart it again - "Vwalah!" (That's my word) and it connects just fine again. Anyone else having this problem after the update?
-
You must update the Helix Stadium App FIRST. Just fire it ip and it will let you know that you need to update it. Then update the Stadium Firmware from inside the App. THIS time you HAVE TO update via USB. I read everything that it was telling me first and it worked just fine for me. Hopefully others will find this helpful.

Sometimes my Helix returns to the home screen...
bbehrens replied to vinny_x3's topic in Helix Stadium
I have noticed that when my shows the "X" home screen, when I am in the middle of something, that the sound is unaffected and it comes back pretty quickly. Still, it's an annoyance. -
Is this a preset imported from an OG Helix, built using the Stadium App, or built from the ground up only on the Stadium Unit itself. Imported OG Helix presets are prone to a variety of issues, the Stadium App is not much better, and there are still occasional issues building only on the Stadium unit itself (I have seen with parameter assignments) - BUT, it is still the most reliable option.

Multiple Effect Footswitch Assignment Inconsistency
bbehrens replied to paulgbell's topic in Helix Stadium
I am curious if this preset was hatched via the Stadium App or was handcrafted on the Stadium itself. I have noticed assignment issues with the Stadium Unit itself as I have been also working with Support and can get an assignment to work consistently, but I have to save it every time I assign the same parameter in order to get it to work. And then when I switch Presets or turn the unit off, the assignments are not there again. I avoid the Stadium App right now because there are even more issues that it creates. -
I, too have noticed the red flash in the output blocks at the end of each path. I have noticed that the effects can bunch up rather quickly where you start a clean path with -23 dBA and just a few blocks later with an amp are getting the red light up at the end of the path with the default settings. You have to pay much more attention to the gain staging than you did with the older unit. However, this is all new hardware and underlying architecture so my guess is that the block have not been fine tuned to the Stadium yet by Line 6 - though I can't imagine why not... Anyways, it would be good for someone who has the know how to do some null tests or other digital goodness to see what the actual input/output of each of the block actually is. Jason Sadites has preached a Gospel of do what you want and don't worry about gain staging for the non-transparent blocks (e.g. EQ, Compression, Distortion, Fuzz, POG, etc.) but watch how you use the Delays, Reverbs, etc. (You know, those effects that last over new notes that cumulatively up the gain). But the Stadium does indeed to appear to be a might more sensitive. Anybody got any hard data to share?
