  1. Thanks guys. You have been quite the help. Still not sure how i want to approach the IRs yet. i guess my main hang-up is how to audition each one semi-systematically...narrowing down just to what i need/want. All info is welcomed and noted, as im sure you guys have forgotten more about Helix than i know yet. Respect!!
  2. I know just what youre saying dude. When its working, its working. Doesnt matter if its the "best or worst" sound in the world. Subjectivity. Go ahead and expand, but try not to alter. Really lovin the new Matchstick which was NOT part of my original firmware. Great update there.
  3. Just wondered how you guys are organizing your IR library? Ive never RE organized my redwirez and they always seemed to be such a pain to get thru, because you either know what you like and go directly to that IR or you "search for a sound". Now that ive had them for 10 or whatever years, im starting to gravitate towards 10 or 15 of them, but i still have never come up with a real great way of organizing them, in any program. Do you: grab your favorites? Or do you just grab the contents of an entire folder and toss them in there? If you only have 128 possible entries, that would fill up pretty quickly that way. auditioning with the Helix doesnt seem real intuitive to this dummy, so i feel like its either - know what you like and put it in the IR library, or you toss a bunch in and delete what you dont like. Thanks!
  4. Yeah, of course youre spot on, but most digital products can be improved up or even changed. Analog can really only be whatever it was, without swapping hardware. My bigger point is that some will often NOT make adjustments to their programs, no matter how badly needed. Even with the capabilities. Im finding some conflicting information on Helix here and there, so things that may seem elementary to you "line 6 old skoolers" dont make perfect sense to me instantly. Little stuff most, and things that become clear eventually, but still conflicting never the less.
  5. Thanks man. After doing my first firmware update today, the answer is simply "yes". Line 6 DOES provide more modeling options in this latest firmware update, than it did in earlier versions, for Helix. More amps, more cabs, more FX, ect.....= more value and more flexibility. Done spending money on products that are simply going to be left in the dust. That is so analog :D Having all of the capabilities of today, its nice to see products being updated, and made even better than the day we purchased them. Continuing to improve a product means A LOT to me as a customer.
  6. Will line 6 continue to improve on its currently modeled amps and cabs in the Helix, and then update them, if and when something better comes along? ...and then, will line 6 add a larger selection of amps to Helix over time? Not that im dissatisfied, but would hate to see a product with such potential left "as is" Newer Helix customer here, and just wondering if Line 6 has given any indications over the years, to how they may make advancements on Helix. Thanks in advance!
  7. No, but it has that effect...Im over it. Everybody has an opinion. Me too. :D Im done.
  8. Im replying mostly to the title, and i realize this isnt acceptable behavior in any sense, but when ive run into this in the past it was usually due to the effects and not so much the amps, so maybe bypassing the fx for a short period can diminish the issue a bit...which i totally get that it doesnt really solve the problem. Much better than dead space or ramp up. havent tried it here yet. just thinking out loud. I'll probably answer my own question before i get a reply...or flamed :P
  9. No i agree man, but its just that a lot more often than not, i find people *think* they know what great sound is, or how to achieve it, but most often dont....like all the time. Then there are the ones that say "the first time i tried x product i didnt like it, but then a year later"....... Point is you do just show up and start trying to deterr people from buying a product because in 14 days you couldnt make it sound the way it did in the videos.
  10. Slightly OT, but i'll be finding ways to incorporate my triaxis and 2:90 with the helix as well, and will be interested in what you find, but sometime try triaxis>soundcard>redwirez cab of choice....Instant gratification :) ....*saliva runs down face*
  11. Its pretty evident to me that the OP is overestimating his abilities. Hes never really owned a "good" piece of gear, and doesnt really understand how to define his sonic shortcomings, yet he is convinced that in 14 days, he has a full understanding for a piece of gear that will take months to fully master. Sure anyone can learn how to use the quick functions, but im sure we'll all be finding new things for months to come. Somebody panicked IMO.
  12. Not a bad collection really...but they expect you buy other cabs based on trials of their free Mesa's. I appreciate the free demo cabs, but at this point i still have absolutely no idea what the Marshalls or Soldanos sound like. Its like letting me demo a microwave and if im happy with it, asking me if i want to buy a can opener.
