Unless im missing something,...The red buttons only function in the editor is to clear a block...which IMO should be a "two step" command at all times anyway. Its redundant and has caused more effort, often because of "error clicks" An option we can live without. Again i apologize if im missing something bigger.

Sorry man. Missed this thread when i asked you earlier. I feel like its a relevant question though, so i'll put it here.. Is there any reason to update if 2.0 is working fine?
-
Hey Phil...Is there really any reason to update to the latest, if im having no problems with 2.0?
-
Updated to 2.0. Didnt really even follow the directions much. Did it the same as any other update, and am having no issues at all.

I believe the issue im having here is from raising the sag level to 10 on the Line 6 doom amp. As a matter of fact i know it is. You can hear best at the very beginning of the track, but ive emphasized the annoyance by playing a passage separately later on. Staccato better exasperates the annoyance....at 17 seconds. Anyway was just wondering why high sag levels do this, if its normal, and if anyone can recreate the phenomenon :P I guess it would be frustrating if my tonal preference was to keep the sag at 10, but only to find out that Helix is incapable of tolerating such a setting. Surely this wouldnt be modeled? Esp not on a Line 6 designed amp. The couple other amps ive tried do not do this. Thanks for any intrest here. EDIT: Ok so ive added an attacthment that is not showing up, so here is the public link in the meantime. https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/26654830/example%20D%282%29.mp3

Wonder when people will get tired of playing the same scale? :) Live a little ;)

Thank you. I'll probably just wait for the next update. Its not much of an issue really, but there WAS a point when i didnt know a workaround....as simple as it may be....... so i figured i better post. If its not fixed in the next update i'll post here and open a ticket. Edit: sorry, yeah im up to date on firmware and such. 1.12

I did and it just creates another path. Of course i could set the input block to off (or aux) but its not the point here i guess. Thanks for the suggestion. Without trying every single one of them...i do.

Yeah, i dont know, good call. You dont have the option to drag it to the bottom path either, so you may be a bit stuck in this case. not sure. I did it by right clicking and clearing the block, and yes the same was showing on the hardware. I tried to find a way to remove the second path on the helix itself (cant be done under any circumstances i dont think - its more of an automatic process) and when i went back to the editor, it was then that i realized adding and dragging a block might work. ....for the sake of clarity - If theres only one block left on the path, Right clicking clears the block, but not both the block and the path, as it should
-
IIRC removing all block on the lower path, automatically removes the lower path itself. Now some of my presets end up looking like this and passing dry signal when they should be looking like this The remedy i found is to add a block on to the lower path (can be any) and then drag it to the upper path.....or said another way - When trying to delete or remove a second path, the last block in the lower path must be dragged to the upper path, to clear it.

Im with ya brother....but i never tried FRFR so i figured i better keep my lips together :)

absolutely....a lil press a lil EQ and verb can go a looong way....When A4 was released, i guess i just expected it to sound MORE like an acoustic than it does. appreciate the vid.
-
The bass amps are kinda cool in front of the IR.
-
Well.....the tone i get is useful, but it doesnt sound like an acoustic. Though, nor does the sim in TH3 or amplitube , so im sure a really good one is not an easy task. Im sure im missing something or other. Im just going Guitar > Helix > IR. Ive gotten some nice tones going Guitar > Helix > redwirez IRs. Of course it also sounds nothing like an acoustic, but still some new tones. Thanks for your time. Always interested to see where you are with things.

Is anyone making third party downloadable amplifier models ?
willjrock replied to electricfactory's topic in Helix
Im not sure there are any sonic benefits to loading a third party VST as a block as opposed to plugging into the helix and loading as a VST plugin....as a matter of fact there really cant be. The OP never mentioned what his reason was for the curiosity, and depending on what youre doing (playing live for instance), i can see how it would/could simplify things, but speaking strictly sonics, im hard pressed to believe there is any benefit at all. -
Sweetwater rep was kind enough to point this out to me as i was kicking around between an ax, kemper, and helix.. i really had no idea what i was getting into with the helix. I just knew i clicked with line6 products......and that dialing one or two great tones was more important to me than a bunch of options. I remember a time when we'd pay 1000-1500-$2000 for one great tone in a JCM 800 or whatever, so i figure if i get two or three sounds im really in love with, im ahead of the game. My opinion is that id rather see line 6 take everything that is already on board helix, to the next level. The cabs are my only majorish dissatisfaction, but yes there is some overlap between the modeled amps that is not present real world.
-
Its a little much to digest, i know. I'll let us kick it around for a few days and see what we come up with. Though, id never really given consideration that my first image, one cab sound may be passing thru the other. My gut tells me thats not the case, but i can definitely see your point there.
-
Maybe give it a go and see what you get.
-
Its a bit different. Including the IR number in the IR file name wont tell you which IRs are used inside a preset. In order to delete IRs, you pretty much need to look inside each preset to see which IRs are being used....unless you code it into the preset name. That could get messy too. I have no problem naming IR files. I just use the important information. I dont need to write the word Basketweave out every time. You can arrange them however you want, so folks may consider grouping cabinet types, alphabetical, or numerical....or all of the above.

Is this me posting? We must be brothers from another mother because thats exactly what i do. Deleting, screenshots, and all. Great minds think alike i guess :P I have about 100 prests by now, with maybe 30% of them being important. I have to go thru all the presets with pen and paper and write down the IR number, control click the numbers that ARENT on the paper and delete lol. rinse, repeat rinse,repeat......

Sorry if i missed it, but what is the difference between this and this? Dual mono and stereo? Dual stereo? If you look at the second pic the merge mixer only shows up in the bottom path ( the lil circle) and if you alter the "b polarity" inside the merge mixer (click on little circle first) nothing happens. Not only that, but the set-up ive shown in my second picture is louder....and maybe even different tonally, but its a little hard to be certain with the volume jump. Now if you click on the merge mixer in the first pic i have shown the "b polarity" option flips the "phase" as intended. Which brings me to my last thought. If my second pic is showing dual stereo, which im thinking it does, is there a way to set up a mono reverb?.......without having to use a mono block after the verb, to force mono? Thanks for the vid.

One of the cooler tones ive dialed is a cleaner amp > cab amp-> Hi Watt emulation. Try that in the real world. Use real world as your road map, because your more predictable tones will be there, but be open to anything sounding cool or being possible. Presets are much like a song in that they grow or evolve over time. Hitting "save" doesnt mean the preset is finished, but more that you are done for the time being,

Oh jeez. Thanks for rendering my thread useless :P No i hadnt seen that, thanks. Id heard about it and forgot to check it out. A great place to start.

Got my first guitar 30 years ago today, but sadly ive never cared to Bias an amp. Ripple is not a term im familiar with and wonder if it is specific to the Helix? BiasX? Is that similar to having a secret agent Bias your amplifier? I hear what the controls are doing, and often the effect they have on the sound, but sometimes not.....and the part that makes things a bit tricky is the way these fx are often dependent on other amp settings and that they vary between different amplifiers. I was hoping we could discuss when and why to reach for these controls, but mostly how to use these later amp stage controls to consistently shape our tone. Thanks!! All time and any though here is much appreciated. :)

Ha ha youre a trip man. Might not hear it often enough but your posts and efforts are much appreciated...not to mention entertaining from these seats. :) Sure its all up to the individual, but i wont be surprised if youre not a fan ot the D112 recto sound. There probably couldnt be a bigger mismatch for a cab mic combination.. Recto already has plenty of low end and is mid scooped. the D112 will add bass and scoop mids, and that will really only compound the issue. Some of the reason that this is a "poor" choice is because at mixdown you are often looking to strip the guitar of certain lows. The D112 would be a good choice on something lacking bass and carrying lots of mids. That really only leaves the top end and there are much better choices than a D112 for guitar. I know you are just having fun experimenting, and i prob havent told you anything you dont already know, but maybe it'll help someone else....and then i just love hearing myself talk so theres always that  ........peace
