  1. Ok, maybe that a little too :) but in all seriousness, its frustrating to hear that stuff, because ive seen what a helpful bunch this crew can be, and such comments just prove them to be correct. Look i apologize for being overly critical myself, but i think youre failing to see the point for benefit of your argument. He didnt say anything about a "superior guitar tone"...........His use of the word "superior" referred to the "superior programmers". I mean you had to see that? There are in fact, people better than others at programming sounds on the Helix. Precisely why the OP chooses to download tones instead of spending his time tweaking..or why people choose to buy presets from other creators.....and thats cool. Who am i to tell anyone how to use their tools. ...and while i disagree with your opinion that "there is no "superior" when it comes to guitar tone" I'll leave that discussion for the appropriate thread.
  2. This is exactly the type of comment that causes people to look down on this forum. talonmm asks a question thats important to him, and because it wasnt perfectly worded, you troll on in to call him out on it.. You know what hes trying to say, but instead you choose to overlook the context of the post and make a shallow remark about something completely trivial. If its that important to you to visit an online forum every day and get your post count up, to appear to be an experienced user, the least you could do is try and be meaningful. Im sure this sounds pretty elementary, but why not just type "hi gain archon" (or whatever) into the search field? That should give you everything you need no?
  3. My stuff is ticketed, but i do want to reiterate the importance of getting this stuff reported to Line6. do it for sure!
  4. Zooey is 100% on, as usual. Youre not missing THAT much by waiting a week or two to install 2.10. Youll have PLENTY to keep you busy in 2.01. Just go with that for now. Anyway good luck, you've come to the right place for help. If you cant already tell.
  5. Man, i know its a bit easier said than done because we all have different machines and different OS', and some of us have different units, but when you read a post saying "download and install the NEW Helix editor application (2.10), available here" the next click probably *should* take you to your download, and not another search for a download. I know its not a hard thing to find after that, but i def could see how it can cause some confusion. Just my 2 cents anyway.
  6. I wonder if its fair then, to conclude that the export part of the equation is where the problem lies? Seems so.
  7. also one thing that really bugs me about ownhammer, or any of them i guess...They give you free mesa IRs, but that doesnt tell you anything about the way the Marshall IRs sound. Cant buy Bogner impulses based on Mesa demos, at least offer a refund or a trade in policy. No, its NOT rocket science.
  8. Are my eyes deceiving me or are you parameter lights scrolling? I have 2 triaxis, and have seen quite a few others, and have never seen or even heard of them doing that. The first one i bought in 96' the other around 2005. Do you have a UPS or drum machine sitting in close proximity that could be interfering? Ive been down this road before a time or two. Sounds unlikely i know, but its quite possible.
  9. Id like to motion for a few more up votes to be allowed in a day, please.
  10. Yep Zooey is all over it. I often do this to see if i have inadvertently loaded up two of the same IRs. After i have edited the name of one im just testing out or am not overly familiar with, sometimes i'll mistakenly put it in the rotation again. Load them both, flip the phase, no sound AT ALL = oops same IR. Yes, it would have to be, or the test would be compromised. Wow that would be something. A silent helicopter.
  11. Appreciate the confirmation.
  12. A lot has been made of Helix sounding differently after an update. I personally dont buy it in most cases(at least not audibly) because A - i happen to have ears too and B - the majority of attention given in my studio IS to the monitoring, room, and treatment. Both financially and in configuration. That being said - do you think the following might serve as a reliable assessment for those that just want the piece of mind in knowing if they are hearing something slightly different or not from update to update? 1) Save a DI'd guitar track to your desktop 2) reamp DI'd guitar track thru helix using amp of choice and current software...lets say 2.01 for smplcty sake...save recorded track 3) update helix software to 2.10 4) reamp ORIGINAL DI'd guitar track thru helix using same amps, same settings but this time in 2.10 software...save recording 5) null both reamped files against each other. If nothing else at all, user could have affirmation, as to if any amp or cab sounds different. No? .......or that there is a provable method to rebut those making broad generalizations similar to "such and such amp sounds way better or worse or different now"
  13. Not even close to a stupid question. Yep preset was built in 2.01 exported FROM 2.01 and imported into 2.10 I did not attempt to roll back. Im sure it would work. The info is there. It just seems as if 2.1 software isnt recognizing. or 2.01 didnt export that preset properly.....Did you get a chance to check yours yet? Im curious as to what you find. I will get this in to support asap. good call. Sounds like im not alone. Very much appreciate your brain power here Z.
  14. Hey thanks for joining in. Mine at least didnt involve snapshots.
  15. Thank you my man. Your time is highly appreciated. Now as i said in my OP (its kind of wordy and poorly written i know - so no fault of yours if you didnt catch it. im assuming you DID and am just echoing) i exported that SAME file earlier in the week and i get the same result when trying to import it. I'll hit support up with all of this but that was peculiar to me and just thought it may be useful info to you. Maybe the incident is repeatable? Maybe its that particular preset slot? It seems odd to me that two separate exports would result in the same outcome. Again, The file size is right....i dont know. Thank you again.
  16. https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/26654830/Starz.zip Sheesh. It never occurred to me that file would need zipped being that small...not to mention ive sent full programs in an email before. .exe....anyway thanks for your interest.
  17. Much appreciated. Thinking out loud after seeing the other threads which *seem* to be having similar issues, but have to wonder if all of our issues related?
  18. Dont worry about the other two guys, as luck would have it, the two biggest trolls this forum has to offer replied to your post. You might want to have your delusions looked at. Again, i see you are having a hard time comprehending what you are reading. I guess in your mind, it must say something entirely different lol.
  19. Me too. If you havent seen my thread already. I didnt see yours before posting. My situation might be a little different than yours. Im thinking its a problem with the import tho, so there may be hope. In my case the file name and size was properly exported - more than once - but when importing it gives me nothing. If our situations are similar, post one of your presets and let someone else try and import it.
  20. Does anyone else have hlx files that wont import back into helix after "backing up"? I exported all of my setlists before updating to the new firmware (all at once) and after updating, helix wont correctly import about three of one hundred .hlx files. A couple of my best ones too, :( My luck. The files seem to be the right size, its just that helix wont read its information. They were fine before the update. Heres one of them if anyone wants to try to import it. Thanks https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/26654830/Starz.hlx Windows 7 PS lol - i actually exported the same preset more than once because after i backed up the first time, i created a couple more presets, and instead of simply exporting just the newly made presets, i exported the entire bank again. Dont ask me why i did that but i did....So the point is that yes, ive tried the other files too, same result. Thanks again
  21. OOps no post. Thats your right to disagree, but everything i say comes from personal experience and is the truth, so disagreeing just makes you appear argumentative from my shoes. I too, am glad to have another amp thrown in the mix, but i would have much preferred a new sound.
  22. No, it does not. Its exactly the same.
  23. I get it. There are only so many types of "guitar distortion", and in the digital world even less - depending on what you are modeling - but your point kind of underscores my point in that - If you want to give the people more tones to work with, then give them more - or make more improvements - to the cabs...which incidentally, that section still needs a lot of work in helix....instead of giving them a sound they already have in a different box. In the analog game the cabinet may be 50% of your tone but in the modeling world its closer to 90%.
  24. I guess im in the minority here. Its the exact same thing as the whowatt with a bit more gain and bass.. Its a sound i was already getting from the helix just fine, before the update. Heres a clip. Whoawatt with an overdrive in front of it and then the litigator without an overdrive. all pretty much at their default settings. I think i had to turn the bass the whole way down on the litigator. dont take my word for it try it for yourself. There is A LOT of overlap in helix amps. The majority of them sound the same. https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/26654830/dumbwhatt%282%29.wav
  25. Over the last couple of weeks, ive really put together some fantastic high gain sounds with the Helix amps. They are 95% IR based obviously, without question the best high gain tones ive heard from a Helix.. I will post them sometime in the next few weeks along with discussion. Now without the right IRs, you may not like them as much and Helix cabs arent going to come anywhere close, but if i can approximate the IRs im using, at the very least it will give you a great starting point. These tones are very close to mix ready for my tastes but lets face it, no two people often think alike, not to mention the differences in gear, playing, ect.....
