Sure Its possible they sound different if they have changed. What the OP thinks is that all presets sound better BECAUSE of the update. He is saying that the overall sound engine sounds better...as if the update sprinkled magic dust on his Helix and made it all sound better ;) ...and not just a little better but "WAY" better. Its just not true and sounds ridiculous.

The factory presets.
-
Its not an opinion that they sound identical, its a fact. A provable fact, so unless you have actual proof that the presets somehow sound better, we're going to chalk it up to misinformation.
-
It sounds exactly the same. Stop spreading misinformation.

Cool. I hadnt seen the post from DI. Glad you are in tune with all this stuff.

The thing here for me, im not sure if i were missing a preset or two, id ever know about it....unless of course i was using it every day. So i guess my question is, how did you figure out it was missing, and are you sure youre not missing others? Edit: Hmmm i guess mine is missing as well. Thanks DC Edit2: On top of all that, the bank is still full, soi would assume either a preset has been doubled and i cant find it, or theres a mystery preset in there somewhere :)

Monitoring inputs in stereo on an interface. Possible?
willjrock replied to Rocco_Crocco's topic in Helix
Again, Helix will do this already. You dont need to buy anything else to accomplish the task. -
I like Badonk, but once again, its already a sound i was achieving in Helix with out it.

Use your Helix for pete sake :) It IS an interface. Secondly there's no reason to use the audiobox if youre not using a DAW. -
It is definitely is NOT the OS., and at no time soon do you need to worry about updating. That makes no sense at all. Windows 7 is still to this day the best possible PC audio platform available .Hell, studios have run XP successfully some 20? 30? 40? years after its release without any hang ups. I was getting the same messages. In my case disconnecting from a USB3 port and plugging into a USB2 port solved the problem.

Cant wait to try the Win version. This would be something that would be important for me.

Stop saying its "here". Its NOT "here". You still have to go thru more pages afterward. If you give a link directly to the download, then you say "here", but youre not doing that. Wake up.

Awesome man (err not i guess) I mustve mistakenly deleted the "player" files above.

rd2rk pretty much says it all. I can add that one is not a better quality of IR than the other, but each company has its own approach in capturing, and the overall libraries definitely have their own vibe. As well as using different cab, mics, room, methods, engineers, speaker types, processing, ect, Redwirez tends to allow room sounds to interact with the capture moreso - which i often prefer. Sometimes though, the Celestion or Ownhammer IR is just the thing. There is room for both in your library. The best advice i can give, to allow you to make the most of your time is - study up on sounds you like and gravitate towards those files. The IR sounds are advertised as "near exact replications" If your influence used a Bogner cab with v30's and a 57, and thats the sound youre after, then start there. Sure it can be fun to leaf thru unfamiliar cabs and their files one by one, but it can also become time consuming and lead to fatigue, as well as confusion. This place is know as "the rabbit hole" :) My biggest complaint about IRs is that - How do you know if you want to buy the Marshall IRs just because you like the free Mesas or whatever. Its similar to test driving an Acura and asking if you now want to buy a BMW. You cant go wrong with either, but to avoid any disappointment, know what your influences use and buy those cabs first. Good luck.

....said the guy whos biggest priority is running to an internet thread each day attempting to derail it lol. I see a lot of dancing monkeys, but the OP is very last on that list.
-
Wow...You really know how to get the trolls whipped in to a frenzy.
-
30 days is often not enough time. I imagine you will form a pretty solid opinion but there will be some uncertainty there for sure. Speaking from a tonal standpoint, you are going to get MORE tones. Not better so much. Im betting when its all said and done, youre thinking will be that your very best old tones are as good or better than anything youre getting on the Helix.
-
Said the guy who had nothing to add to the thread but name calling...and i guess if you cant play guitar very good, chasing others around on an internet forum is all you really have...Troll on brother. Troll on.
-
Nope. Good luck with your set-up. If its me, i simplify my patches a tiny bit and go for the overall bigger sound. You know what you need better than i do. Just my perspective. I love that every time i post you troll on in with something to say. That tells me im completely in your head and i just love that. Appreciate your continued attention.

Octoverb is the one i spoke of. No snapshot for that. Oh sorry. I dont touch the hardware often. Weighing out importance: Would i rather have a tiny glitch in a song that i can probably hide or work around vs. having to run a different set-up than id prefer. Thats a pretty easy one for me.
-
Snapshot mode? I did, and they were not assigned. You can, but you have chosen to add on 3 distortion pedals, which is abusing dsp to whatever extent.
-
Sure you do. The pitch doesnt come on at all and that uses a ton of dsp. Wah doesnt come on at all. Looper doesnt come on at all. Octoverb doesnt come on at all. Whats the point of having them in the preset if they never turn on? Wont need send/return block with new routing. So theres 4 blocks that the preset doesnt use and a 5th one that can be eliminated after youve got your routing down.
-
Youre running out of DSP moreso than youre running out of routing options. You have too many unused fx. Start by getting rid of them, and then set the patch up again. This is causing you to have to use the 2nd path before its truly necessary. DSP wise you should be able to get pretty much everything you have on path 1&2 on to path 1 alone.
-
Ok, let me download the preset and see what i can do, tho it would have been helpful to mention that in your OP.
-
Yeah that falls under the category of being able to set user defaults. I agree with what you are saying, but its also just as tedious having to adjust the mix every time when you audition a delay, or send a wah to EXP1 each time you audition a wah. There are many things that could be made easier by letting the user decide the starting points. Oh yeah, and each time you change the first cab in the "dual cab" format, it resets the second cab to 1x12 lead 80. Thats a painful one IMO.
