Have you changed anything? I took my monitors off the pads to clean under them and that lowered them about 2 inches and it sounds pretty different. Not accurate but different. Now that the tweeters set lower i dont hear the highs as well ...surprisingly so for 2 inches.

Awesome to have you aboard. What about the tone matching? Im not really one who likes to copy other sounds but it just seems like that could be such a killer feature. My buddy almost has me talked into trying the Axe II XL ( not that im unhappy with helix) but i have never tried it, heard it, nor care to. Just want playing to be as fun as possible. It really meant a lot to read your quote....or saved me $2200 i guess :) i owe you. will half do? :)

A 2x2 sheet of plywood and some velcro should make a pretty simple quick fix. Not very rocknroll i know, but better than a shortened lifespan. Paint the wood black to maintain a certain level of respect.

Thanks. Appreciate the clarification.

I know i found this by accident. It IS nice to just alt click a parameter and assign the changes. Do you have a link to all the keyboard shortcuts?

I like the full on distortion of the Arch clean. Master 10 Drive 10 and Bias 10. Helix has re - invigorated my appreciation for fatter half drive type tones.

Thanks!

Actually you can just drag and drop them
-
No it wont. It does one thing real well. It tightens up flab. If you want a tighter low end, then the screamer is your guy. If you like the lows you are getting then something with a flatter response might be in order.

Are you guys seeing a post im not? Its my last notification, and its directing me to this thread, but i dont see the post. jbuhajla's post is the last i see.

Just wondering...Can you change amps on a snapshot basis? Could you conceivably have 8 different amps for a single preset?

So....Howd it go?? -
I would definitely choose the parametric. It is more flexible. The parametric can be recorded to disc. The global cannot. I see a lot of suggestion here to set the HP/LP filters on the global EQ in a friendly manner, to accommodate for the extra highs in the native cabs. Those EQ corrections will not be recorded, so its somewhat counter intuitive. Whats worse is that if you DO have it engaged, you are monitoring it the entire time, but again, this EQ will not be applied to the recording, giving you a different result than what you are hearing.
-
That doesnt apply here at all. No, who would fill their Helix up with presets, without using any fx.
-
Found on the amps page, this confused me a bit at first. This is only true if there are no post amp effects. I cant imagine he was picturing every preset without fx. Who would? This is not a good choice for leveling presets. I assumed it was similar to turning up an output block because he said It's how I level different presets but after digging a bit deeper in to its functionality, it was apparent that it was strictly a post amp model level control - as he also said. That should be edited.

If you read the instructions it tells you exactly what they are. The thing about IRs is that they are like a snapshot of a set up so you have to know what you like. "sifting" thru them all is pointless. For instance, i know i like a G12 speaker with a 421 on it, so im not going to waste a bunch of time wading thru the V30 files with a 57. When you buy an amp you dont try every one on the market. You have a pretty good idea of the sound you like and start there. Think of IRs the same way.

Just to get to know my equipment a little better, i have been using helix as an interface for a short while, and the thing i DONT like about using HX as an interface is that it renders the Global Eq useless.

Oh i cant wait to hear this one. Lets see if we can guess his response......and then link him to the thread just before Rocco takes the stage  -

hideout is spot on IMO, but id take a powered studio monitor and let him mic that. Something you already have im sure. If not, you can pick one up cheap. -
Yeah im not sure man because in my mind im just going on to the next preset. Im not sure i would be able to tell if the overwrite were about to happen It happened again today, but this time it didnt overwrite the entire preset, just the name.

Another favorite vote here. No abnormal behavior at all. I saw a video/review here about a month ago (im sure you guys did too) and the kid said how he just didnt dig the MKIV or something to that effect (even though he was a metal player - i dont think he really knew how to dial it) and im thinking "what? this is like one of the best ones" MKIV might be the best amp simp ive ever played thru. In fact i know it is.

I was gonna answer a "qoute" in a thread and get this mess why?

Well sometimes man there are just glitches. Any chance of that? -
Good advice above. Especially about the money. Theres no doubt you can get buy very nicely with what you have now. If it were me i would A) plug into the PA for a little added reinforcement. B) also plug in to an amp on stage. If it sounds good, point it at the audience. If the amp's sounds dont meet your demands, then keep it pointed away from the audience and just use it as your monitor C) Take a pair of phones (or probably a little cooler - earbuds) so you have a fail proof way of monitoring yourself.
-
Absolutely, though anything is possible. Your whole goal is to by pass the fenders preamp (which you would be hitting by plugging into the front of the amp) and allow the helix to be the fenders new preamp so to speak. Or said another way, the only thing you want the fender for is the power amp section and the speaker.

Nope an intermittent suck button. :)
