Quite often i run my LA 610 in front of helix. I have the fulll size channel strip, and im not completely familiar with the baby brother "solo" so forgive, because im assuming it has the same hardware connections as mine. Plug your guitar into the hi-z input. Come out of the 610's line out and go in to any line input on the Helix. Bamm!! instant sweetening. Ive always just used the guitar input, just make sure you set it for line level in the globals. Shouldnt make much difference which input you use as long as its set for line. Using the guitar in gives you the added advantage of being able to manipulate the impedance. The A 610 compression can sound so so sweet in this configuration.

Everybody uses IRs anyway. How much better can axe sound than helix, if theyre both using the same IR?
-
Appreciate the information brother.

Hey thanks for your interest. Well.......a box comes up the shape of the editor and then inside that box comes a pop up immediately after words saying Helix has stopped working, windows is checking for solutions...and then it pretty much just closes immediately. The only way i can get it to run is by opening helix "properties", and then under the compatibility tab i find this box. Run in 256 is the only one that will allow the editor to open, but then my screen looks like this The difference is most noticeable at the very bottom. The graphics are actually more hampered than they appear here. Also you'll notice that i have "run in compatibility mode for windows xp" tic'd. Thats not how it is usually set. I was just making more effort to find a fix and forgot to switch it back. Its usually set to "run in compatibility mode for win 7"

You are the man. Hard disc space is good here. Will check start-up. Why wouldnt any other program would be giving me similar fits? Cant see a reason this would/should be helix editor specific.
-
256 colors. Thats the only way the editor will run on this junky net computer. Win 7 I found this by searching for compatability mode or whatever might make the editor work on this machine. Was never an issue before but i havent used or hooked this computer up in quite some time. 7 months or so. Just decided to do it so my main box could be cleaned. No computer wizz, but im guessing its an update. Still, what could have changed that would make my helix editor "incompatible" with my graphics card? Like i said it worked fine a year ago. Any guess? Thanks!

Appreciate it man but nobody looking for IRs. You DID read the thread before replying right?
-
Yep that totally worked. Much appreciate the brainpower.
-
Oh yeah i DID post at ampmodeling.com.. I just forgot. It might be my first post there ever ha ha.
-
Thanks for the clarification fellas. I was definitely misunderstanding.
-
Maybe im misunderstanding, but there are plenty of interfaces that do this. If the audio interface has a software mixer (such as a fireface 800) it allows you to pan the two inputs for separation.

Nice find dude. Havent had time over the last day or two, but was wondering if you found any complaints or intel at any of the other modeling forums? Surely somebody had to run into something similar with this file? Didnt seem like ANYONE else really had a problem using these IRs. No helix users at that point yeah, but i recall seeing some axe fx'ers there, no? Maybe when they converted to .sysex for axe fx it took care of it. I dont know. Ooops my bad. TH3 "splits" similarly.
-
Wow! Thats really a wierd set of events lol. Wonder what the hang-up is? Whatever the file is, you would assume Helix would convert them to a 48/16 file it can read. (yeah its a .wav, but......) Ive had these IRs for close to 10 years and could never really get them to work. After hearing how nice they sounded in TH3, I hoped re-downloading them from guitaramp modeling.com would give me a workable helix file, but no luck. I have a few other IRs that act the same way. . Im partial to the Soldano poweramp IR by the way. See it works fine for me like this if im understanding you. Panama in Helix and Cab IR inside TH3 and thats it. Dude ive had some REAL good luck with the Damien and Ghandi IRs, if by chance you havent messed with them much. As a matter of fact TH3 has been sounding nice lately. Its my opinion that the cab sounds and cab control just destroy anything Helix has to offer.
-
Yeah after installing the latest version on another computer i realized i was incorrect in saying that IR came WITH TH3. Still though, its the only place i can get it to work. Would hate to have to drag a computer with me any time i want to use it. :)
-
. Hey brother thanks for the reply. Load the IR cabinet. There should be an entry in there for Diezel. If there is not then either I have added it myself and I am completely mistaken about what I'm saying but I don't believe that's the case.
-
This is a free IR. Ive enjoyed it inside TH3 for a while now. Ive tried to load it in Helix, but it gives no sound. There doesnt seem to be any similar complaints on the net. Has anyone had any success with this IR? Inside or outside Helix? Also, i havent been able to get this IR to work in ANY capacity, other than inside TH3. Ive even downloaded it from different sites on different occasions. Any clue what gives? Thanks!

About 12 threads on this already. Use the search function. What is it that people need so badly that they cant wait?
-
Oh....Yeah, the options cant be changed that i know of. All pre- set. Sorry.
-
Click on the output block. You'll get a list of all possibilities.
-
You'll probably have to go back to the old firmware and export them....Only if they are not in the newer firmware in a different location.

When will we see new models and firmware for helix??
willjrock replied to MarkJarvis's topic in Helix
Sorry man just seeing this.. Welp, the cabs i agree with you on, whole heartedly. I couldnt be any more disappointed in those. They are far and away the worst of any program i own......amps, while i love them and want more, i could get buy with whats there. More than likely whatever new amp they put out, one of the existing helix amps will be able to duplicate its sound enough a person wouldnt be able to pick it out in a mix, quite often even with the guitar soloed. For instance litigator wasnt of any use to me. I was already getting that sound with the Hiwatt, identical. Heres the file below. The first 7 seconds is the Hiwatt the last 8 seconds is Litigator....or vise versa. I cant tell them apart lol. https://www.dropbox.com/s/90lqp2mdd4n304x/dumbwhatt.wav?raw=1 1)The reverbs arent awful but they all sound the same. 2)We need an IR manager or a different approach to IRs bad. 3)While being able to move the mic left/right on the guitar cabs would help a lot, helix needs a complete "cab lab" equipped with an analyzer and deep phase editing capabilities. That IS where the largest part of the "tone" comes from in the modeling world. Why does it have to be "barely adequate"? 4)Tone matching isnt for me, but it WOULD be cool and i know a lot of other folks would appreciate it. I cant take anything away from your opinion, but these are just some things off the top of my head that would make helix a stronger product compared to more amps, more fx ect.. -

willjrock replied to MarkJarvis's topic in Helix
I think there are far more issues of importance other than more, more, more. I welcome the new amps and fx, but there is just tooooo much that Helix needs. Also, there is also plenty of overlap with Helix. -
Its all good man. I apologize as well. I honestly dont look at names a lot so quite often i DONT know, but after you mentioned and i thought a bit, i realized that you make your share of contributions. I just didnt see a reason to jump on me. Its all good though.

Sorry dont share info with trolls...but thanks for the entertainment of watching you go off the deep end :)

Theres nothing to be gained with the information.
