Geq 7. These are some of the most important frequencies in the spectrum of guitar processing. To have an eq preset to these frequencies would be saving time. As a matter of fact I’d be surprised if I even have to mention this model at all. To NOT include it at some point would be a glaring oversight.

30 day RETURN policy. 2 to 3 year warranty...depending on where you got it.

Any word on when this is supposed to drop? I havent been paying the closest attention. Also, with the new update can we expect, all parameters to be correctly reported? Meaning mix settings, some reverb decay times, ect....

Theres really no reason NOT to keep them...... or even think about it for that matter. At 7 or 8 KB per, even if you had 1000 of them, youre still not even at 1MB.

Huh? In any case, even my comments are nothing to get worked up about. I guess you feel differently. Theres always tomorrow, if you feel that strongly about it. If downvoting my comment somehow makes you feel as if youve accomplished something, then by all means. You might just be taking it all a little too seriously. -

Doesnt really seem like anything to have a total meltdown over. -
Hmmmm. I hope im following you when i say this because this is something i wanted to mention initially. I'm on Win7 by the way but.....One thing i LOVE about navigating Helix is that when going thru IRs or a setlist, its a 1 click step to any point i want to get to. For example, from IR 001 to IR 128 is one single click. Setlist 01A to 32D, or anywhere in between, one click. No scrolling, dragging, or anything, just one click. All menus in Helix editor share this same consistency, and that's something i hope never changes. Now, my folders in Windows not the case...continually clicking or it needs to be dragged. I think here is where we share the same frustration, but why is our process exactly opposite? Its in this that makes me wonder if im confusing what you are saying....or why im getting it and you're not...or why im experiencing this in Windows. Also as a side note: I really hope that Helix adds scroll support. Could be my computer, but i don't have that function, and it seems somewhat essential, no?

In the Helix editor, Once a snapshot is selected, or once a model is selected, the menu for that model or snapshot closes. If it stayed open until the user closed it, it would be much quicker and easier for everyone to cycle through. If it stayed open, all you would have to do is hit the down arrow and enter on your keyboard. As it is now, once you select a snapshot number, the menu closes and you must grab the mouse and click on the snapshot menu bar to re-open it,in order to select another snapshot. Same thing with the models. Once you select vermin distortion the menu closes and needs to be clicked on again to re- open, to select say....stupor OD. Again, if those menus stayed open until the user were READY to close it, a gentlemen could cycle through with much less effort. I try to avoid the mouse as much as possible, and not only that, by the menu closing each time a model is selected, it continually adds an extra 2 to 3 steps in the process of auditioning new models. Any reason things are the way they are? Am i missing a simple work around? Is it reasonable to expect a change here? This would make navigating the editor more like the unit itself. Thanks!

Alternate settings for Para EQ in lieu of Cab/IR block

Dead on. Ole Chad needs to get out more. What a waste of guitar playing time. Funny how when you are asked a question and reply to it, you are suddenly "complaining" lol. Thats one of the stranger things ive heard lately. -
I’ve owned many marshals over the years and I too found the helix models to be pretty true. Marshall tones seem to be The easiest re-created. 80% of the tone is in the cabinet when it comes to modeling and I don’t find helix cabinets to be even the least bit convincing, so if you are not using and IR but are using helix cabinets, that could be some of the problem right there

Hi Buddy!! Whats the main difference between the MP-1 and MP-2?
-
I feel ya Phil. I’m going to say that you are probably correct here. The computer is plenty powerful enough and there was really no reason to crank the buffer down. The one thing that disturbed me about it all a bit though.…… When I was sending audio out of helix (or midi in this case) attempting to trigger sounds in TH3, bias, whatever, I really had a lot of trouble getting it to work properly. It was getting hung up quite a lot. I blame this on helix because I got the same result with so many different get tar programs.

Quote Im not too well organized. When my IRs get full i just export the whole list, date it, re-import the ones i KNOW i like, and start all over again. This usually leaves me about 100 new slots to start importing again. This also leaves a multude of problems unsolved, even with the fact that I number all of my IRs, which is a pain. Especially when the number is already there and all that REALLY needs done is for that existing number to be allowed as part of the export process....which also stilll leaves a bunch of problems unaddressed. Quote 3 right now. I suppose i'll start the process again right before the update which will give me 4....and if the update drags on much longer i could end up with more than that.I imagine with a dedicated tool this number can and will be reduced significantly. I could probably reduce it some just by being more organized, but being OCD organized takes away from the fun of playing guitar. Short term anyway. Quote The most important thing for me would be knowing which IRs are and are NOT being used....or jus NOT is fine. This would preferably extend to the snapshots portion where i quite oftren change cabs. If im just nancing around in the rabbit hole, testing to see what AMPS work with which IRs, then sometimes there may be 8 different cabinets tied to a single preset. The other most important thing would be for the IRs to import/export in the order they exist inside Helix, WITHOUT having to number them and/or alphabetize them. The last most important thing would be to allow for more characters, so one could see the full detail of the IR file name without having to edit any text. Quote No question about it. I dont use HX cabs at all. This is one of the main things im hoping for everytime an update rolls around.

Oh yeah. I hooked up Helix, just to see how it operated as an interface. I used no hub and got plenty of latency-esque sounding clicks and pops. My bet is that the drivers pretty well blow. If i remember, the pops werent there on the export (not that- thats much better) so maybe try an export and see if you get a clean track. This was 7 months ago or so. Im a little foggy on the whole thing

Tried to find your plex patch but no dice.

Zooey what kind of sound do you like? 25 W greenbacks? Vintage 30s? Def Leppard? Rush? Tell me a few things that describes the guitar sound you like.
-
Just wondering where you were at with this?
-
Thats exactly what im saying. In verbatim. If a person wants to sound more like AC/DC, The Who, that classic Marshall sound you hear on a ton of the most popular records, then use the redwirez IRs. If you are going for your own sounds then id be more apt to lean towards the OH greenies.
-
I have to say.… I have had a chance to try the Ownhammer 25 W greenbacks over the last couple of days, and they are just not in the same league as the redwirez stuff. The overall tone is good with the OH cabinet, But there are more mics/ positions with the RW cabinets which is part of, but not entirely the reason for having a much larger over all tonal pallet . Much more contrast between the between the RW files, not to mention A more realistic and familiar sound. This is not necessarily a bad thing. Especially for a guy like me who leans more towards an original sound than a familiar one.

Is it possible to transfer patches from one Helix to another Helix ?
willjrock replied to MeirSherman's topic in Helix
Yes. Very easy. as long as you have the editor installed. -
Oh no. It wont, but used in the right configuration it can. With the right gear in the mix, you'll probably run into a FEW tones that youre not willing to part with. Thats any modeler though. Not just Helix. Running helix into the fx return of your amp izz the recommended approach, but often running straight thru the clean channel like youre doing sounds better. Some times the fx return sounds better.
-
Appreciate the heads up. In that case i'll pick a few up. Any recommendations? Orange Mesa bogner diezel marshall
-
and as far as i know there is no free OH greenback, so youd be comparing free OH mesas to helix greenbacks.Kind of comparing apples to oranges....and yes most IRs are sonically superior to Helix cabs in every way possible.
