    Ownhammer IR's

Nope, and that's why i'll give as little money as possible to these IR companies on a "trial" basis.. A person cant expect to know how much he likes the Diezel cabs based on demoing the free mesa library....and if you don't like it, too bad because they couldn't make it any more clear that there are absolutely no refunds. Id ask around for the ones you want. Theres no copy protection on any of that stuff. That's how i came into the California duo thankfully. I didnt like that set very much and dont use a single impulse from that library. However if i DO find something i like and will continue to use, it is imperative to pay for it. Please do the same. I cant stress that enough if you end up going the loaner route. Good luck!
  2. I need to try it in a mix, which i have neglected to do. I never mix with helix...and bedroom jamming, unless thats your end goal, tells you nearly nothing. I first learned this about 20 years back. I have a few JCM 800s. One of them in particular is somewhat coveted. Its a 2210 that Ive loaned out for recordings, rented out for recording, or used myself. Its literally on 100s of albums. To hear it, in a room, by itself you would think it sounds like most other 800s. It sounds good but its not a head turner. Total other story in a mix. Its so up front and present sounding. Almost sounds like a different amp. Like theres not a single frequency i would want to change with an EQ. So maybe i just didnt allow for a fair evaluation of valve driver, but i will!!
  3. had to look that one up lol. Im pretty proud of my spelling but i gotta tell ya, i thought it was a word i didnt know. Never wrote it before or gave it much thought but i guess ive always pictured it in my head as fucia. Right, i dont think its uncolored at all.Funny that you prefer that one, i could never make valve driver happen.
  4. lol Uber guru might be Philm. You'll want to look at that again...Unless youre being a smartass, then im LMFAO. Anyway. appreciate your input here.
  5. By the way, Scott was also of the opinion that the valve driver was the only uncolored drive pedal in helix and therefor his fav. For what its worth.
  6. It doesnt sound like you hear it, or have an opinion either way. Being that you are illustrating them as Scott's claims and not your own. I say this to you in a respectful tone. You dont sound convinced. That tells me we might be splitting hairs here. Ive never tried it, so i have no opinion. Ive always been of the camp that 48/16 sounds as good or better, or the same as 96/24 with conversion. Often considering placebo and all the other factors, its hard to tell. Its a slippery slope.
  7. I dont think Scott would do that...at least not intentionally, but it *seems* to be a general acceptance around here (and in the helix manual- IIRC) that stock cabs use less DSP than IRs. Hey, i may even be wrong here. Going from an older recollection. The 96k IRs would have been converted to 48/16 during the import into helix.
  8. Dont mean to downplay your needs. My hopes are that the helix accommodates EVERY user, esp one as kind and as helpful as your own self :) but man....this seems like such an easy one to get around.......With the panners and ability to rearrange blocks and all. I can think of a multitude of ways to make a verb mono. All i run are mono set-ups but i havent felt limited in any way. If i want mono verb i just drop it behind a cab....or AFTER the cab and then add any mono block at the end of my chain. Usually the least DSP intensive obviously. Simple EQ maybe? I know one shouldnt HAVE to do this, but i dont think it'll ever feel like a hassle to me until i need to run in this config and run out of DSP...not being able to afford that single block of space, and i dont see that any time in the near future.
  9. Ha! Old one! Sorry i missed your reply ShoreProductions. After about a year and a half with Helix, i can safely say that i havent felt limited by its DSP capabilities. At the time of this thread i may have not been hip to some of the "rules" governing helix blocks. A for instance - Its common know that Helix native cabs use less DSP than IRs. Go ahead and add 2 native cab blocks. There is still room for two IRs and FX but no more Helix native cabs. Now, this isnt an instance that i was puzzled about because its pretty common, but you can see there are situations where block choices are limited, completely unrelated to DSP consumption.
  10. Love it man, but the Ownhammer IRs are FAR more responsible for the tone than anything Helix is doing. Im not knocking what youre doing here at all. Your time spent here and on ALL your videos is much appreciated., but i think its fair to note that you could combine these IRs with freeware amp sims floating around the web and get most of these tones, as im quite sure you are well aware of. I get what you are doing but helix appears to be the star of the show, and it really has less to do with the tone than the player, the cab sims, or the guitar. respect!
  11. I really doubt you would find anybody in this scenario. The only way I could figure is for you to do it yourself but we both know that is out of the question so you may just be spinning your wheels on this one. I can’t see how you would find any more than one and I don’t suppose that tells much of a story. However, I’m sure I speak for more than myself when saying that I am really thankful for your experiment. do you expect it to be free? Do you have an idea what you would charge if not? Are you hoping for Beta help? Without rushing you is there anything I or anyone can do to help speed the process up? I’m glad youre taking the initiative. It seems like line 6 has no interest in pursuing an IR manager and I am of the opinion that we are in need of one desperately. As are you thankfully
  12. I love what your sayin but man id love to see some really accurate emulations. At this point, i prefer quality over quantity. Id rather see one amp per update that is REALLY well designed, as opposed to 7 amps of more of the same.. Maybe add in a single control that is original to an amp. Get rid of the ripple control on all the amps. Thats a real waste of space. In the manual it says "At higher settings, things get freaky" lol it takes a very specific set of circumstances to even hear it working and it RARELY if ever enhances the tone....i dont know just some random thoughts here i guess.
  13. It could be a placement issue as well. Drum machines, mic preapms, wall warts, a computer, and tons of other stuff, can all induce noise.
  14. You should have gotten a flash drive with your helix (if you bought it brand new) that has 1.04 stamped on it.
  15. No question about it. Whether he knows it or not ..... its what BOTH parties want. Hence the perpetuation of confrontation. I mean these are supposed to be grown men here, and they bicker like 15 year old ghetto girls on facebook. Back and forth, back and forth. If they could get past themselves for a second, maybe they'd realize that the forum is whats really taking the punishment. Im actually FAR less offended by the OP. Maybe his approach isn't perfect but i honestly believe that the tone is or at least was at some point, his bigger asgenda. I cant really blame him for defending himself. Sure, there are lots of tones Helix can not replicate. There are lots of tones a Marshall amp cant rep either, but both can sound good and are fun to play so it shouldn't matter if they can reproduce every sound ever made. I also feel like the Helix is the least of the problem in re creating this tone. Sure there are lots of tones Helix can not replicate. There are lots of tones a Marshall amp cant rep either, but both can sound good and are fun to play so it shouldnt matter if they can reproduce every sound ever made.
  16. I love the fact that this guy has you so wound up that you cant simply ignore it. Whats it like having your mind controlled by an internet troll? Though, watching you, peter, and alex humiliate yourselvs over all this AGAIN, has been all the entertainment one could ask for....not to mention the fine job you guys have done in helping cement this forum legacy as being one of the more sensitive forums.
  17. Ok well what i heard was that he said it was the least interesting of the 7 fx, so this is a little bit contradictory to the way youre putting it.
  18. Man, you love getting involved in every bit of this crap that goes on around here, dont you. You just love being involved in any bickering orgoing back and forth, whatever. This forum, that forum, if theres drama involved, you are there!
  19. With "awesome" fx like stereo width, the least of my worries is when the new firmware is coming out. I dont think id go around tooting my horn about that one.I dont even know if id call that an effect. Id probably just call it a gift or a bonus or something.
  20. I really like that song and it was always a mainstay in our set list over the years. I know I would appreciate the patch, for what it’s worth. After about a year and a half with helix it’s the first one I have any real interest in. Also when those folks were trying to replicate the message in a bottle guitar tone I often felt like the effects were pretty close, it was the guitar tobe that was lacking. Even the helix preset isn’t too awfully bad in my opinion. At least the FX portion would be close enough for my tastes. It’s just that the guitar tone is worlds off I messed with re-creating that tone, but time became a factor. I didn’t get real close to a carbon copy.
  21. For my personal needs, this is not an application i like with helix at all. Tonally, all the amps sound pretty much identical through a poweramp and cab.
  22. Yes, just dont put a cab on path 2 and set it to XLRs. Put a cab on path 1 and set it to 1/4inch and they should be completely independent of each other.
  23. Yeah thats pretty good. Ive actually heard this one rep'd before. Give Message a try if your into it. Thats the tone that dude was saying was unobtainable with Helix. There were some attempts made here and a couple of them not too bad, but none were "dead on".
  24. I know what youre saying, and yes, i agree, the original OP (aka the OOP) was pretty abrasive with his comments, and yes there were some fair attempts at the tones, but no one replicated the tone. His satisfaction is neither here nor there. Ive heard helix do a good job of copping a number of tones, sometimes nearly indistinguishable (especially to the UNTRAINED ear) but that wasnt one of them. Were the attempts bad? No. Adequate? probably, but REAL good? Sorry to say it, but no. Anyone in that thread saying the attempts were "real close", was either trying to appease the OP, end the thread, or plain just does not have an ear. As an aside, not trying to defend the OP here because i could care less, but i dont really recall the thread the way you do. The way i remember it, the OP was actually pretty respectful until he was ridiculed by the members here. Anyway the kids are covering some KISS tunes and thats what we're working on copping now, which that tone and most marshall tones, seems to be an area where helix is stronger. I'll leave you with a 45 sec clip for your time and comments here. Opinions welcomed. https://www.dropbox.com/s/38pd1wsdtmtkh8z/lick%20me%20off2.wav?raw=1
