Personally I like #3 the best. I think it would be cool to mix and match the power amps of different amps that are already in the helix too. Most of them are already modeled and I would think all you would have to do is take [amp block]-[preamp block]=[power amp block] Maybe I'm wrong about this though. But I'm really curious what a deluxe reverb sounds like pushed through a 100 watt Marshall lead. Will it sound good? I don't know. But I sure want to hear it.

Oh I was aware I just wanted to know if external expressions could also use footswitchable on/off. Thanks though That does sound cumbersome you'd think that they would have thought of that during design. Maybe they'll make a midi expression or something in the future. I was hoping to have a wah on/off switchable, the digitech whammy on/off switchable, and then an amp with two different settings or a blend between two amps

If there is no toe switch on the expression pedal does this mean the effect must always be on? I would really like to be able to have the expression pedals react similarly to a regular wah that is push on/off is that possible? I don't mind paying the extra for the mission engineering as they look good and sturdy

Hey everyone, I'm just wondering what external expression pedals you guys are using with your helix. I've been eyeing the mission engineering ones, and hope to have 3 expression pedals, including the one on the helix itself. Would the EP1-L6 work for this or do I have to use the SP1-L6H? Also once all three expression pedals are attached do the toe press functions basically become on/off switches for the effect? Thanks in advanced!

I'd like to achieve this sound with Helix...suggestions please.

I wasn't saying that was his rig just that you could probably get that sound on that video with those. On top of that I would be willing to bet his rig has changed multiple times over the years. Tone is a fickle thing too, two people same rig sound different. Same person on different rigs can sound nearly the same too. -

honestly this song sounds pretty clean, My computer has pretty crappy speakers but I would be willing to bet you could get that tone from using a comp pedal in front of the twin or jc-120 -
Exp pedal isn't on and off it switches between the two so try applying the amp settings to a footswtich, otherwise you'll have to get a second expression pedal for it to work

IMO I would much rather see an integration of a "scene" mode than more effects in the near future. That's just personal preferences of what's more important to me though as I can get most if not all the sounds I want though some sort of combination of preamps, amps, and effects. Not saying I don't want more amps/effects/cabs/etc though. The more, quality, sounds the better. And I find the Helix pushed though a tube power amp pulls almost all, noticeable but small, "digital" sound coming through If you haven't tried that fastnloud. I've mostly used this as a digital pedal board, and I originally was under the impression you could assign each block, and any combination of blocks, to a single switch and each block to multiple switches, similar to how an octaswitch works. But the fact that you can only assign a block to a single footswitch becomes IMO the most limiting part of this unit. But I see similar complaints of what line 6 is working on pretty consistently throughout the forum though, and I don't quite understand the mystique of it. It would be nice to see a general idea of the things they are working on. I can see where this just takes away from time they could be spending working on other things, and that they are probably working on so many different things that it would be hard to list it all, but I don't see it needing to be very specific, a general idea of some of the things they're doing would be nice especially when it comes to functionality. The idea scale sort of does this but its rarely updated and last time I checked it has things implemented over 6 months ago still pending. But with things like the editor (I know it is already out) just saying "We're working on an editor" just to know it's on their radar would be amazing. Do I need frequent? No. Every couple months is enough for me to really try out an effect or get used to an amps dynamics and stuff anyway. But It would be nice to have a little more transparency on what's going on for future updates/ what Line 6 is actually thinking as far as future updates go

I made a couple of those! Glad there are other bass players rocking the helix too! It would definitely be cool to see what interesting things everyone else is doing for bass

I agree 100% I bought this for guitar and have used it almost exclusively for bass in band situations. The fact you can literally blend EVERY effect with the dry signal makes this thing absolutely incredible for bass. I have been running an A/B path with A going thorough a simple EQ bass boost and the B path running through the Muff, bit crusher, and rat(only 1 is on at any time). But the best part is I set the A/B path levels to the expression pedal so I can easily blend the distortion in without having the dreaded anemic sounds of most dirt boxes. Also I highly suggest throwing one of the leslie speakers into the mix and dialing the actual sweeping effect down. It creates a super fat tone when dialed in correctly.

How do we get that Helix help page pinned to the top of the forum? I feel as if It would answer a vast majority of peoples questions along with extra info

Made my first video comparing Timmy vs Helix In my opinion it nailed the sound although the parameters have to be adjusted a little different Helix definitely has a bit more gain on tap which is kind of cool. Heres the video if you care to watch it This is my first video and hope to make many more in the next couple months. Comments and suggested improvements are greatly appreciated.

Hey I was curious if the Helix actually sounded like the effects/amps it said it was modeling and decided to make videos so others could see as well. If you want it on your site feel free to post it. This video compares the Helix vs the Timmy. This is my first video and hope to make many more in the next couple months. comments and suggested improvements are greatly appreciated. Thanks

Oh I completely understand that. I guess for me it's more is it a vintage version or new. And for instances like the big muff is it the green Russian, Black Russian, triangle, Rams head, little big muff, etc. I am assuming it's the triangle due to the name of the block but I could be wrong. Or on the rat is it an old one with the lm308 chip or modern or white face or turbo? Might be cool to have different models as a parameter. Anyways thanks again!

Thanks for the quick reply phil_m! That completely solved my amp side of the question! While looking through that pdf the effects models weren't really explained though. I'm really curious as to which model/year fuzz face, big muff, rat, etc. are. I agree it's very nit picky, but I was just hoping on starting to make a couple videos and want to compare apples to apples. Also I really hope they add all of those effects listed to the helix soon! And they should definitely throw a similar type of explanation of those amps/effects from the pod hd into the helix's manual.

I was hoping someone, possibly at line 6, could tell me which specific models/year were used when profiling the amps/pedals/etc. I have been comparing the modeling to the originals that I own and so far most have been incredibly accurate. But, as an example, the rat model could be one of multiple incarnations. And, as an example, with the amps what model of twin did you use? Tweed, black face, silver face, reissue?
