  1. Can anyone recommend some small speakers for use with the HX Stomp in a living room? I have a PowerCab I use with a full Helix out of the way but this is too much for the living room. I am looking for some some suitable speakers that could be used with a line in or bluetooth for music as well as connection to the HX Stomp. Thanks.
  2. @TLF2007 I did some back to back testing and my Freqout pedal is now pretty much redundant ;-) Many thanks for this TLF2007
  3. @BobOD Try this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=simaPS7dzLw The amp seems to use a single cable footswitch input and control 6 functions - check if the footswitch uses TRS or standard guitar lead. Helix can send to Ext Amp and control TIP, RIng or TIP & Ring with momentary or latching on the buttons. You may be able to program 3 buttons with latching to send one of 2 states to each of the 3 outputs but I think you may only get 3 different outputs. I don't know without trying. The footswitch itself is about £80-£100. Why not use the Helix and the Marshall models in there through a PA or PowerCab?
  4. Yes, it seems odd that the L6 Link level has to be manually edited on the output of each patch when other outputs can set it globally. Maybe I am understanding something incorrectly but it seems like it could be done globally for L6 Link too in a future firmware release.
  5. Thanks for all the responses in this thread. I bought the pedal and just came back to this thread and saw the patch to try. Natural high is the most convincing thing I found on the pedal so I am looking forward to giving @TLF2007 example a try out and compare with the real thing. I will post an update later.
  6. Download the older version and run it on Windows 10 with compatibility settings. It worked for me. The screen resolution was a bit small but workable on a larger screen or different resolution. Alternatively you could install an older operating system on your PC or on a virtual machine under Windows 10. Don't blame the company because you chose to upgrade your PC beyond the supported operating system for an older product. There are ways to solve your problem.
  7. I have been wondering about this myself. Is the global setting for Line 6 Link set a bit low? Is there even a global setting for it? I see a Digital level setting in Global Settings for S/PDIF or AES/EBU but not specifically for Line 6 Link on my Helix Floor. I tried setting to AES/EBU and selecting a +18dB output and I get no effect on the Powercab. I wonder if the global setting is operating differently to the model output setting. On a particular model I am using the output setting I see is set to -2.7dB on the Output (Multi) Turning this up pushes the Powercab to Yellow and into Red with some drive like your results above which sounds a lot better.
  8. @datacommando Many thanks. I am still overwhelmed by all that it does and don't have a deep understanding of all the pedals. Perhaps this great Freqout effect will be added one day as so many people would love that feedback at low volumes.
  9. Can the Helix simulate the effect of this Freqout pedal somehow? e.g. could a chorus pedal do something similar with momentary switching?
  10. Would it be possible to look at modelling a speaker with razor blade slashes to the cone like the Kinks did for their tone?
  11. Bugs observed on my Helix Floor 2.9.0 Firmware 1. Loss of sound while playing - connection to Powercab 112 Plus via L6 Link. 1 block used Amp Model Essex 30, Added Deranged Master, played a few notes and sound tailed off and crackled then silent. 2. Lock up of unit - think this occurred after changing preset, playing a few notes and then accessing Tuner (Did the boot speed optimisation delay the loading of some modules to post boot e.g. Tuner?)
  12. Even setting the defaults to Pentode not Triode would be better than no change. Hopefully they will take up the suggestion to edit some of the patches to sound their most suitable out of the box with DT amps connected.
  13. I don't think I have any model packs. I have had instability in operation - sometimes the Pod500 worked, then it didn't, then it would come back to life and reboots would be ok. It was working well for a while, I did an update and it went a bit crazy again. I think I have it back to normal but I lost so much time with it so I created the post. Biggest learning so far - do not power it up without a guitar connected and flash as that really seems to lock it in to Update Flash mode. I have had the correct flash for USB display before but now it is 0.00 - I will try another recalibration and post later.
  14. @RonSom1976 Thanks for replying. Once you disconnect from the PC, look on the Pod HD500 setup screen. What versions do you see there?
  15. @Digital_Igloo Many thanks that will be great and may save someone else a few hours wondering why the DT25 was not responding :-) @gtrman100 Thanks. The reason I requested it to be added was so that once set up it does not all disappear next firmware update.
  16. Thanks for the replies. I appreciate the difficulties explained. Frustration was borne out of having the messaging saying that DT25 support was now working then spending time to figure out why nothing was changing when I switched patches. Adding some appropriate settings for some factory patches would show the DT25 changing rather than static. Coming from other devices e.g. PodHD500 and not getting the same capability seemed like a downgrade but I understand the 4 amp challenge etc. I got it working by creating my own patch with Vox and Class A, Topology III and then figured out all the others were just set to a global default. It would be great to have the basic one amp patches at least set to an appropriate Class and Topology to get the best out of Helix and DT25 out of the box.
  17. DT25 support is in 2.81 but none of the amplifier models or factory patches set the correct base topology, class or Pentode/Triode. The modelling is missing these elements crippling the Helix in my view. Please vote for DT25 missing patch information to be added
  18. Line 6 replied to a PM and said they left DT25 not configured and to figure it out myself. Over £2k spent on JTV '59, Helix and DT25 and to get the tone you have to do the rest yourself. You might as well configure all the effect chain and an amp and then select no cabinet or output and tell the user they have to set the rest up themselves to hear something. The PodHD500 models set the correct topology, the Helix should do the same. I did not sign up to guess what the tone should sound like, it was sold as a tool that would do that job. Step up and fix the DT25 parameters in the patches and defaults for amps please Line 6. Please finish the job and don't leave it half done.
  19. Modelling original amplifiers is part of the reason for purchase, flexibility is another. My expectation would be that the base setting for a Vox AC30 model would be correct in the Helix model including the DT25 new parameters Topology III and Class A. If the Pod HD500 has the correct topology in the patches then the Helix should be able to do the same now that the connectivity is there. It just seems to have been missed when releasing 2.8 and 2.81 Has anyone created a list of the models and the correct Topology, Class etc? If not I will give it a go with my HD500 and DT25 and google for anything extra in the Helix.
  20. Many thanks. I was trying it out last night and nothing was happening. Every patch I selected had the same DT25 settings. I created a Vox AC30 patch and set Topology III, Class A and Pentode on the Helix and that worked. All the other patches switch back to a default. I don't think 2.81 has the correct DT25 Topologies set for the presets. Does anyone have a list of the correct DT25 settings for each amp model? Line6 - please can you provide this in the next update? Thank you.
  21. @gtrman100Great, thank you very much. Are there any details about the fix or manual update?
  22. Hi, Just got my Helix to go into my DT25 Where can I find the patch mentioned in this thread created by Radatats with topology switching for the amp models? I could not see it in Customtone. I managed to clear settings in DT25 using DT Edit and my USB MIDI but did not have a midi to midi cable so I set bank B to 4 topologies with no pre amp then used a button for Ext amp to the DT25 to switch channel for now. At least I can switch between 2 settings with Helix and a guitar cable without midi once you have set them up in DT Edit. You can use momentary or latched so you could create a quick boost from the amp that way I suppose. Is the Line 6 Link implementation in Helix just missing the ability to send commands? I hope it gets added in Global command as an option to send L6Link commands. Thanks. Vic20-Ian
  23. Some tips if having problems stuck in Update Flash. 1. Plug the guitar cable in and try rebooting the HD500, it might go back to normal, it doesn't every time. 2. Try and reflash the firmware and USB driver from PC then try 1. I used a MS Surface Pro3 Win10 and that eventually worked. 3. After any reflash, Power up HD500 with cursor right pressed then on the diagnostic screen: 3.1. Press View on Pedal Calibration, 3.2. Heel down Press A 3.3. Toe Down Press B 3.4. Exercise the pedal and verify 0-255 then Toe down 255 and Press C (Repeat if necessary) 3.5. Press D to finish. 3.6. Now reboot or Reset (4) 4. Reboot and Reset (Hold Left and reboot) - helps with clearing bad patches 5. Flash Mode (Down and reset) then try a flash 6. Try Selecting another patch with A,B,C,D I reflashed USB and Firmware a few times to get over the issue AGAIN as my pedal was either locked into update flash or would boot to a patch, place an asterisk on it then lock up on a screen for pedal assignment. I am not convinced it is a permanent fix. The firmware screen shows USB 0.00 and 2.62 it should be 1.4 and 2.62. It has damaged my confidence in Line 6 products. I was thinking of replacing it with an HD500X but I think this issue persists on 500X as well. Does anyone know how to get the USB firmware to read correctly on the HD500 as 1.4 not 0.00?
  24. Not being funny here but the low volume mode works best at lower volumes. It is still quite loud at the higher volume levels. Try comparing volume 2 with and without the low volume mode switch engaged. If you turn the amp up from there the low volume mode does get louder but significantly less than normal mode.
