  1. OMG....GAME CHANGER. ARE YOU F'N KIDDING ME?!?! DI (or other L6 peeps) if you read this...this is amazing!! I havent had a chance to play with it, but...few questions... 1)I can see using it the way you had it laid out....utilizing a customized layout per preset as I run preset per song for my live use. However....the last part of your video where you did the HX Preset selection made me think..... 1) My setlist 1 is my 'core' tones. Clean/Breakup/Country/Crunch/Rock/Hard Rock/Metal etc....normally I would save these (all the same template except Amp/CAB/IR or dist pedal choices really) and then copy/paste the appropriate amp/cab/effects into a song specific preset labeled 'Kryptonite' (for example, 3 Doors Down tune). Utilizing my Clean chorus, Rock sound, and Rock Lead sound. 2) Could I essentially create a Kryptonite Preset, and now setup Preset Up/Down switches for advancing through the setlist and instead of copy/pasting my amp/cab/effects selections from my Core tones, just reference my Clean/Rock/Rock Lead presets from Setlist 1 using 3 HX Preset slots, but also then assign Stomp switches to the Delay/Chorus effects. Thus utilizing 2 Preset change buttons, 3 Preset location buttons and 2 Stomp Effect buttons? I never use more than 4 snapshots really, so instead of trying to coax 4 sounds out of a single preset with 2 amps and bumping into DSP issues...I could just create 4 Presets that are dedicated to that specific sound, and then link them to the song specific preset in Setlist 3 for live use? Quick rough visual layout better maybe Setlist 1 preset 1 - clean chorus (#000) preset 2 - rock crunch (#001) preset 3 - rock delay (#002) Setlist 3 Kryptonite Preset - 10 button layout - #1 Preset Next, #2 Preset Previous, #3 HX Preset (000), #4 HX Preset (001), #5 HX Preset (002), #6 Chorus Stomp, #7 Delay Stomp. #8/9/10 not in use. Also I see in the HX Edit screen the Mode/Tuner/Tap switches are showing, can those be moved/changed or are they hardcoded?
  2. ugh, why did you upload this while I'm at work. lmao. now something to look forward to. This quietly became one of my favorite features just from reading the release notes. can't wait.
  3. Yeah I havent had a dedicated tweaking session with this effect yet, but will consider your routing option and see where I land. Thanks for the info
  4. that sounds nice and crunchy. I didnt spend a lot of time with it as i've never been a good 'pedal distortion' guy. Mainly always got my tones from amps......what type of clean(ish) amp did you run this into?
  5. Could be some sort of visual lag, which may also be a hold up for a tuner option? Just thoughts.
  6. Yeah I tried it last night into a Deluxe Amp that I have set to a nice clean type setting, and it was pretty thick sounding. Is there anything that would prevent from it sounding good Legacy > Cab/IR block? I'm not at my helix to try til later tonight....
  7. I havent tried yet. I'd prefer to 'not try', lol....but i'm sure with the new IR's that I purchased, I'll be resaving and moving some things around. so we'll see. lol
  8. Should be as simple as making the split block set to the Dynamic setting, and then playing with the threshold/release numbers to get it to react how you want it to. pretty straight forward.
  9. Yeah i'm sure I'll sit down with it tonight more and explore.
  10. I didnt even know where to necessarily look and it stood out to me on my screen with it being on my pedalboard and me sitting in an office chair. it wasnt xmas light bright, but i noticed the change in color enough to be aware of it.
  11. mine worked fine Helix Full, however I did have to reset some global/tuner settings back to how I had it.
  12. So if I understand right.... I run a preset per song live....songs typically will use 1-4 snapshots, hence the preset/snap mode. I've thought about making the Bank up/down buttons preset up/down buttons and then utilizing a larger palette of song specific options either more snaps or snaps/stomps sorta thing. So this will allow me mix stomps/snaps on my layout, instead of the 4/4 or all snaps/stomps layouts they have? If that is true, can there be a mix of presets, snaps and stomps? I really would only need 1 stomp for a handful of presets, maybe 2. But giving up 2 preset slots of the preset/snap template would suffice for my needs. the picture is getting clearer, but i'm still not sure i fully get it....
  13. I guess I think the feature is good and I may be able to use it, but dont quite have my head wrapped around how it would be implemented live to know if I can take advantage of it. I dont really use 'stomps'. I run in 4 preset/4 snapshot mode mainly, however i'm open to changing that if I can get more functional usability live. Can someone provide me some examples of how this is game changer?
  14. Ok, maybe I'm missing something with all the information coming in being an overload for me....but can someone clarify how these work..... Command Center > HX Preset Helix Floor, Helix Rack/Control, Helix LT, HX Effects A new Command Center command type lets you assign any preset (or Next Preset or Previous Preset) to any stomp switch. Together with HX Snapshot and HX Looper commands, you can now customize Stomp footswitch mode to your liking. From the Command Center, select a stomp switch and turn Knob 1 (Command) to select "HX Preset." Turn Knob 2 (Preset) to choose Next Preset, Previous Preset, or any single preset within the current setlist. IMPORTANT! Although stomp mode switches can be assigned to multiple functions, to avoid unintended behavior, we strongly recommend HX Preset commands be assigned to empty footswitches. Command Center > HX Snapshot Helix Floor, Helix Rack/Control, Helix LT, HX Effects A new Command Center command type lets you assign any snapshot (or Snapshot Up or Snapshot Down) to any stomp switch. Together with HX Preset and HX Looper commands, you can now customize Stomp footswitch mode to your liking. From the Command Center, select a stomp switch and turn Knob 1 (Command) to select "HX Snapshot." Turn Knob 2 (Behavior) to set the behavior of the stomp switch: Press/Release—Pressing the switch engages the Knob 3 (Press) function; releasing the switch engages the Knob 4 (Release) function Press/Hold—Briefly pressing the switch engages the Knob 3 (Press) function; pressing and holding the switch for 1 second engages the Knob 4 (Hold) function IMPORTANT! Although stomp mode switches can be assigned to multiple functions, to avoid unintended behavior, we strongly recommend HX Snapshot commands be assigned to empty footswitches. Also, one clarification from last update probably that I finally noticed/missed.....in the global settings there is a setting where it seems I can choose the 'same button press' can revert/advance to the previous/next preset? is that correct? So I could really be on my rhythm snapshot and push my lead snapshot for a quick lead fill, and not move my foot and push it again and it will revert back to my rhythm one? So sorta a momentary switch concept?

    Purple!

Yeah I updated, and only got a few minutes with it. I plugged in the amp/cab block to get an idea of the 'original' specs and starting points. Then I moved to just the Amp block and tried a few of the York Audio IR's I just purchased and man...this will replace a lot of my core amps. Also, I havent tried out the Red channel we got last update with the new IR's yet, but if its just the next step from the purple, I can't imagine I wont fall in love deeper with the amp.
  16. I use Bandhelper for similar situations. Actually use it for all my bands needs, calendar, practice schedule, setlists etc.
  17. Had an after thought back to my old Boss GT3 days.... The wahs in that unit were greatly regarded as 'weak' (from things I read at that time). A lot of users found ways to tweak a parametric EQ to be a wah. That gave you control over the frequency response, Q shape, and amount of boost that you got. It worked well in the GT3, I've tried playing around with it in my Fractal/Helix units over the years and couldn't ever duplicate the sound of a true wah that way. I'd be curious to try again.
  18. interesting concept.....I know nothing about programming or coding.....but I couldn't see how the display names would creep into buffer/memory issues. But for the record I keep my preset displays on the 000-127 naming rather than the number/letter designations.
  19. Ok, thank you DI for sharing that. That makes sense. The sharing thing isn't a 'wish' of mine, but was a thought. I like that Helix has some deeper parameters, but not to the paralyzing effect that Fractal has. It makes sharing settings much easier as well, and the block sharing was more of a result from my previous Fractal use. Thanks again!
  20. I can see that being an option, and a workaround that's been around for awhile. I guess I'm confused now on what will be implemented...is it only (and I use that term not in a complaining way by any means) that we can save the default settings for each amp type (greatly useful, thank you). Or is it that we can save different versions of the block with saved settings (ie, Fender Deluxe set to clean, breaktup, crunch, overdriven) and then recall that version of the amp from another location? I agree, global blocks would be cool/helpful, I would only really use that it if allowed global edits. Meaning if I save the Placatar amp with a HBE/saturated switch on version and a unsaturated non-HBE crunch version and then edit the mids, it would adjust all versions using that global amp block setting so I didn't then have to edit 50+ potential presets. I was going to ask if blocks on their own would ever be allowed to be shared. I know its easy enough to get settings from someone, but having someone send you their phaser deep settings vs just exporting the block and sharing it, and importing would be cool and easier to create a Frankenstein preset from various stock/user presets.
  21. I agree, but I have had it happen relatively quickly into a tweaking/jam session. Even when I'm not even making tweaks to presets other than to realign songs within a setlist.
  22. when I had my issues with corrupted slots, it was around the 82 mark as well. Sometimes I'd be rearranging a setlist for an updated setlist for my band, and I'd be working up in the slot area of <20 but the corrupted slots would always be higher numbers around the 80's.
  23. I get all that. I guess what I was trying to imply or ask was more this.... There are amps that when you pull them up, with the default settings, they have a sound that seems like it is the sweet spot or the general direction the amp was designed for. Again, probably not translating in my head well. I get everyone will have different settings and ideas and ways to use amps, but the majority of the amps in Helix I only know by forum reputation or references to songs/artists that I pick up through different threads posted here of TGP. I have tried watching review videos through sweetwater and such and while they give a sorta the 'stock setting' run through of the amps, they leave a little to be desired sometimes...especially home shot ones where you just dont know how it sounded in the room or what was done after being recorded. I get the whole tweak the way I think it should be and dont use others settings...I only use others as a reference to start me in a different spot than the original stock settings and adjust from there. Sometimes starting with a off white canvas creates a different portrait than a regular white canvas as a starting point. There are the usual 'main' flavors right...quick names JC-120 Cleans, Fender clean/break ups, Vox, Mesa, Marshall flavors...and while some amps by those manufacturers can cover lots of grounds tonally...there are lots of amps in the Helix that i've never heard of, heard or know if the stock setting is a good starting point or otherwise. A lot of times I want to try an amp and see what I get out of it....but lose interest, and then wonder what that amp was designed to achieve vs. what I was trying to make it do. Sorry, not articulating what i'm lookoing for I guess very well. No big deal, just was meant as a conversation starter and maybe some interesting tips or amps to try differently.
  24. I agree, thank you for the great work. I can work on the unit directly, however it is much more convenient to do so in Edit. I agree just in my own assumptions and detective work that there probably is some sort of a buffer memory and the send/receive is not carrying all the data or its getting lost in transmission somewhere or being over loaded....something.
