  1. Yeah I'm a TC Fanboy and I have to say that sounded kind of jankey. I mean it sounds like it has a lot of features but without them actually playing some of the licks they describe it's hard to judge on some dude just jamming.
  2. I really like this one patch but I'm afraid. Like I see it when I scroll by but it has so many options and I'm not sure I'm ready for that. But it's always there when I go by and it could have some neat sounds. I just don't like making the first move.
  3. I'm wanting to play some jangly Tom Petty (RIP) stuff this week. Sadly I do not have a 12 string guitar. Does the Helix have an effect that I could use to make that sound? For example Digitech makes a pedal called the Mosaic that's basically a 12 string emulator. Also, why is it that some of my patches that I make (just with amps and cabs) are at lower volume than the preset ones? Is there a setting I have missed? I am gauging this solely on what comes out of the headphone jack.
  4. I didn't even know you could do that. Man I have a lot to learn.

    looper question

I have done that with my ditto looper when tweaking pedals and amp settings before I had a Helix. It's a great idea.
  6. I searched but all I found were threads about the tuner needing improvement. Gonna snuggle up with the manual this afternoon tho.
  7. I've been reading the manual but honestly it's kind of overwhelming. I was trying to figure out which was the best way to use it. Thanks :)
  8. I tried to search the forum for this but I couldn't find anything. If I want to use an external tuner instead of the Helix internal tuner, how do I do that? Do have to put it before the Helix or in an FX loop? I was under the impression there was a place to plug it in that would let you bypass the Helix tuner but use the same floor switch. Thanks in advance.
  9. If the pedal is plugged in to a power source do you have an isolated power supply? Also have you tried the ground lift?
  10. I have a fuzz I like to use along with along with a couple of pitch effects (Sub N Up and DT Ricochet). Do I put these in the chain after the guitar but before the Helix? Is it safe to do so since it effects the guitar signal? Or should I put it in the send/return and place it before the Amp block?
  11. If you don't like amp Sims why use a modeler? If you have a good interface just mic your amps/cabs. You could get a nice mic for 400 if the Helix doesn't suit you. Don't forget though that you are paying for the software from a $1,000 machine and since it's new you'll still be getting free firmware and model updates.
  12. These have been on sale prior to the launch of Native so there's a good chance it's not been redeemed.
  13. My helix is coming soon and I won't have the original owner's receipt (it's coming used from a vendor). Will I still be eligible for the $99 of Helix Native? Also how do I register the Helix? Does it need to be deregistered first? Is that possible?
  14. Yeah the Yamaha THR10 has a aux input that has its own separate volume control. It's the same price as the JBLs and is smaller. Great for bedroom volume
  15. So since the Amplifi has 8 speakers rather than one guitar speaker then that one would be good for using cab sims. The Amplifi 75w is on sale for 250 on sweetwater
  16. Found a good deal on Reverb and took it (probably not allowed to post a link) Used mint for only 1200. I was wondering do any of the line 6 amps (like the amplifi) work well with the Helix (using cab and amp sims)? Getting some JBL LSRs but just curious.

    Tuner accuracy

I cannot tell you how often I've found myself messing around with cables and pedals only to realize my guitar wasn't plugged in.
  18. I think he means he used to work there or they used to be a dealer for ZVEX. ZVex is still making pedals. https://www.zvex.com/
  19. Yeah I mean one that is sensitive to attack and doesn't have as much compression or sag. If I hit a sour note or I get a buzzy and farty sound I want to hear it. The goal is to improve the quality of my picking and my fretting hand so that as I learn to play faster my notes will be clear, clean, and defined. No lazy sloppy playing. Good discussion tho :)
  20. I've been researching and checking out the different amp models in Helix. What model do you find to be the most unforgiving (as in articulate, dynamic, any mistake you make will be heard)? I've been told that the Roland JC-120 is a form of this beast. What are your experiences? Just another month or so until I get all my cash saved up!
  21. My problem with the larger speakers is I play in a place with roommates. I can only play around 75db (yes I measured it) so I want something that will still sound good but not something so big I can't turn it up at all.
  22. He shouldn't need the power amp if he has PA/FRFR gear. The Power Amp into the cab could be a lot of things. Doesn't that SD have its own EQ stacks? May want to check that as well.
  23. Thanks for the advice. I think I'm going to go with some JBL powered monitors. JBL LS305 I think it is.
  24. I found this Berhinger Eurolive B205D and thought it was interesting because you can sit it on the floor or a stand, it has a three band eq, phantom power and some other goodies. I think it might work for my house set up. Any of you guys try this or other Berhinger stuff? I know their pedals are meh. https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/B205D
