Nope, nevermind turns out Helix only outputs 48000Hz audio, the setting has no effect on USB signal, turns out I'm doing all my songs in 48000Hz now? Or maybe I should record with my Focusrite 2i4 and then Reamp through the Helix? But then the signal will be different since the Focusrite guitar signal will be a lot stronger than the Helix guitar signal.

Ugh nevermind I'll record 4 songs again tomorrow with everything set at 44.100Hz, this album is cursed I tell you, it's the 4th time I'm going to have to do it, first it was tuning problems, then lollipop cable that made DI signal weird, now it's the sample rate. lollipop me.

Hello, I've been recording some songs, and the Helix's sample rate is default at 48000Hz, however my projects are in 41000Hz, I've run into problems after hearing ticks in my tracks, thinking I'm going to have to record it all again, but then I switched the project sample rate to 48000Hz, and they went away however, the audio files now come up as modified, I'm using Studio One 4. What should I do? Re-record 4 songs again just to be safe or is there some workaround to this?

Helix LT 2.70 tuner reading note that isn't there
vstrattomusic replied to vstrattomusic's topic in Helix
I hope that's the case and nothing's up, just a bit worried about losing sound fidelity or damaging the insides of the Helix with the lollipop electronic installation here. -
So my Helix LT often reads a flat D note right before playing a note or when touching the strings near the pickups, I can also trigger this issue to show by unplugging the input cable while the tuner is on, this has only been happening since I updated to 2.70, if I roll back to a previous update, this doesn't happen. Here's a picture of what I mean Can you try on your Helix and see if you have a similar thing? Would a Furman Power Conditioner maybe fix this?

Helix vs Mesa Dual Rectifier vs Axe-Fx III vs Kemper + FREE PRESET!
vstrattomusic replied to MLSoundLab's topic in Helix
Duuude! I have a bunch of Fractal Cab Packs that I think you made, is there any chance you'll ever make those compatible with .wav IR loaders or the Helix instead of having to use Cab Lab? If not what are other impulses would you recommend that are .wav?- 18 replies

Actually I haven't tried this myself but thinking about it, if you wanna get creative I'm not sure if there's a tone generator thing on the Helix but I think there is, you could put that on a separate path from your rig, get some noise from that tone generator, put a mono tremolo block afterwards, and sync that with your BPM that you set through HX Edit or with the tap button, essentially making your own click. But like I said I've never tried this and it might be a bit of a bulllollipop move since you're consuming processing power.
-
Don't think so, I use NCH TempoPerfect on my comp but if you gotta go mobile use any free metronome app off the google store.

I'm happy with my Helix LT as it is, work my way around the things I don't like about it and I agree on pressing the devs on putting more stuff in, after all I paid for it and want to get as much out of it as possible, but I'd definetly go Fractal if I had the money, to buy the Axe FX III, the AX8 I'll pass because I have Helix LT, but the Axe III is on another level, sooo many amps and effects in awesome quality, tons of processing power, but of course it's like 3 times or more the price of the LT so yeah you get what you pay for. Line 6 is being cool with the updates and all, but it's all pretty slow, I would really like to be surprised with a super update with some new cool additions that take this thing to the next level, don't know if that makes much sense on the business side of things for Line 6 but yeah, it would be pretty cool.

Finding myself trying to move away from IRs since the Stomp announcement
vstrattomusic replied to njglover's topic in Helix
Not me, as I've been getting better at mixing I've thought that I might try getting a killer mix with the Helix Cabs, and I can get a good tone with them, but the IR's usually beat the hell out of them in a mix. There's some really nice stock cabs for playing around on the vintage amps, like the Divided by 13, the Trainwreck and the Matchless amps, but my music is usually 100% high gain tones with some trippy cleans (how very original), and with the stock cabs there's like only a couple of cabs that work on a high gain tone, that pisses me off, because it's not like there's this cab that works better in this setting and this other cab that works better in this other setting, there only a couple cabs that work with a high gain tone and the rest just suck. And then the ones that work they're noisy-er than what would be their IR counterpart and require more EQ work. Then with IR's it's a bit of a pain to test them with the Helix if you want to mix 2 or more IR's together and want to compare the tones A/B, so what I've learnt to do is, I load up the DAW with some DI tracks, load up an amp sim like the X50v2 or Recabinet 5, test out my IR combinations there and when I've settled I load that into my Helix, set it up for reamping mode, and tweak my tone to fit the mix while I listen to it with the rest of the instruments, sort of like what I would do with VST amps but slower. -
You're right, the electronic installation in the house where I live right now is a mess, it's very old and I'm very angry but there's nothing I can do about it right now, there is no ground, I used to get electrocuted while playing here very ofter until I found a way around it. My cables are fine, in fact, I ran across something interesting yesterday, I recently went to another city and bought an expensive instrument cable, and a bit before that I had bought two cheaper cables from a local store, because there weren't any other in the store, well the cheap ones would not work with my guitars that had active pickups in them, they would sound very weak, almost no sound, but they seemed to work fine with passive pickups, and when I switched to the new expensive cable that I just bought it was a world of difference, it sounded properly, kind of demoralizing, since I said to the guy in the local store that I would use these to record and he said that they would be perfectly fine. Anyway, I can handle it if the noise is coming from a lollipop electronic installation, I just really wish that it doesn't damage my Helix and that when I move somewhere else it works without problems from having it used here, I worked hard to buy it and moved to a different country from where I originally bought it, so I'm scared that it'll be a bit of a mess if something happens to it. That leaves one last question..why is the tuner on 2.70 picking up this noise but the one on 2.60 didn't?
-
See what I mean?
-
Yes, another thing, it also installed the drivers for the HX Stomp, which I don't have, I have the LT which uses normal Helix drivers I think, so now my DAW recognizes an extra interface that isn't there.
-
I did, I'm on 2.70, I rolled back to 2.60 to check the tuner and updated to 2.70 again, I don't mess with the FW files, I let the L6 Updater do all the work. But yeah, yesterday there was no way I could import a setlist on 2.70, tried a whole bunch of things, today I tried again after reinstalling 2.70 and I've been able to without a problem.
-
And I just tried to import a setlist, and I was able to! What?!
-
No, it doesn't happen with the volume off, it flashes for a second or two when I play a note or touch a string, it will show a flat D note before showing the correct note no matter the note I'm actually playing, I did find a way to trigger it for testing without a guitar. If I unplug the cable from the guitar it will read a sharp G note (noise), but if I poke the tip of the unplugged jack cable, it will have the same effect, it will flash a flat D note for a second or two. But the curious thing like I wrote in my second post, is that I rolled back to 2.60 to check and I didn't have this issue on that firmware, only on this one, tuner seems to be different. And if I use a VST tuner in a DAW it will not show this problem. I've tried on 3 guitars, with 3 cables in 3 different outlets in different parts of the house.
-
Phew, I rolled back to 2.60 and this wasn't a problem, I was scared that something was up with the hardware, updating again to 2.70, first try was a fail on a USB 2.0, didn't use USB 3.0 this time, just unplugged the USB from the LT and plugged it back in and it worked, and the problem is back. So it is a thing of the update, weird stuff man.
-
1. The thing almost bricks itself when updating it, the firmware update went wrong a couple times, until I switched the USB cable into a USB 3.0 port, then it went okay, but for the Helix to actually work properly I had to switch back to USB 2.0 (????????) 2. Can't import Preset Setlists (-8604 - Unknown.) but you CAN import individual presets 3. Tuner reads a flat D note with all strings muted with the pickups volume on 10, happens on a 6 string and an 8 string, not my guitars' problem Also could it be that the input jack is getting lollipoped up? I checked for smells incase somethings burnt in it and there is a smell coming from that area, don't know how to describe it, not burnt but strong electronics smell. How does this thing hold up against humidity? It's getting pretty crazy here where I live, mold coming up on the walls and all.
-
Heheheh how are you so mad at this, it's L6's pedalboard, they can do with it whatever they want. Are you gonna tell me that you've already used up ALL of the effects and amps and possibilities available? Sounds like you need to get better at making patches.
-
Holy hell how do you guys step on that pedal? I haven't had a problem with it yet, but since I've heard about the pedals breaking I loosened up the pedal a bit with the allen wrench that's included, I remember when I bought it I had to step a bit harder on it because it was set very stiff from the factory, I loosened it just enough so it's able to keep it's position on it's own, but also needs little to no pressure to move it up and down.

Any idea what we can expect in the next update? 2.65 or 2.70?

I expect from the next update: -All the cabs redone -All the amps redone, with +60 more amplifiers, including every single channel from every one of those and the ones exisiting -All the pedals redone, with extra tone on the 808 because I SAY SO -Graphic UI for every amp and it's back panel too -Graphic UI for every pedal -Graphic UI for every cab, including mic models, room and mic positioning -The ability to mess with the amps' internals, changing tubes, etc. -An IR mixer which allows me to load more than 2 IRs per path -Input Gain control -Better and prettier HX Edit -Some way that will allow me to change tones on the go after recording the DI like I could do with VST plugins, without having re-record every change or having to "fake re-amp" double tracked guitars by using different ins/outs through the 2 paths and panning them. -A master volume option for every preset, which would be useful for doing the above. (The volume knob doesn't count as preset master volume) -A user manual that explains each of the amps, cabs, and effects EXTENSIVELY. I may be forgetting some stuff..- 66 replies

Really? So you record a DI with whatever then reamp it with Helix Floor and Native and get different results? Hmm that's crazy. Anyway I recommend TSE x50 v2 which is not free but kinda cheap, or x50 v1.0.2 which is the first version of the plugin and free, I own both. Also S-Gear 2 is pretty good too, I own it, but I've never tried it in a mix. Then I have some Thermionik amps too, those aren't free but they're very good.
-
Okay, well I didn't pay 800€ to get a tone that I can get from a $70 plugin, or a free one, I understand what you're saying but I want to keep pushing it so that's what I'm gonna do.
-
Because I want an even better tone, the dream tone in my head so to speak of
