  1. It took you > 30 days to decide you did not like it?
  2. After hearing the audio here of the "plink" I tried to recreate that with my JTV69S. Fortunately, no luck at all. My 6th string sounds fine on both mags and models. I don't palm mute much but I tried to duplicate the sounds on the video. I agree that the sounds on that video are terrible. Something is wrong with that guitar and Line6 should do something about it. Sounds like they pretend that it is fine since they don't know how to fix it anyway.
  3. Flatwounds are way too dull IMO. They eliminate the squeak sounds though. They are nowhere near bright enough. I prefer the coated strings from Elixir. They also reduce the squeak but they are still bright enough.
  4. Try removing the modeling knob and putting a small piece of paper in the hole - then replace the knob. This will allow it to push the shaft down further. This fixes this problem for many.
  5. It's very possible that your bridge just needs a good cleaning around the Piezos.
  6. Try first with no amp model. There are a few good acoustic patches in the database.
  7. Good quality too. Nicer than the one Line6 sells by a long shot.
  8. Do purchase a good VDI cable. You can try it with the one that comes with the guitar but it's only really designed to work with workbench. It only has a shell on one end. I recommend buying it from Best-Tronics http://btpa.com
  9. I would try restringing that string and see if it comes back. If not, you may have to replace the Piezo for that string. It's not that big a deal to do that.
  10. You have to run it separate from the modeling. The 700 was not designed for mag pickups. There is no way to connect it. You could blend them outside the guitar using two amp inputs or a mixer. Add a second jack for the mag pickup and wire it just like a standard guitar.
  11. It's got to be hardware. We are all running the same FW (or versions of it) Piezos are going to pick up any weird vibrations that are present.
  12. Chinese crap tools! You can cut the end off to fix a boogered allen wrench. I use a dremel cutoff wheel. I have a nice set of both metric and allen wrenches that are not made in China! You need very hard steel to make the small ones so that they don't just round off the first time you use them.
  13. Regular TS cable is what you use going to an amp. To turn on the modeling, you have to push in the model selector. IT should light up and turn on the modeling. Then you can select a model by turning it. The mag pickups are passive. They require no power and they work without the battery installed.
  14. The green lights on the battery box tell you how much charge you have. It should work with even one green light.
  15. Two of the same guitar don't always sound the same so expecting two very different guitars to sound the same is asking a lot. I am sure that there are subtle differences.
  16. Modifying a guitar to play lefty is done all the time! Reverse the strings and nut, set up the bridge, and turn the sucker over. The only additional issue with a Variax is reversing the Piezo connections to match the reversed strings.
  17. Transplants of the electronics are not at all easy. It would be much easier to convert the Standard to lefty by swapping the nut and changing the Piezo hookups.
  18. You can't do that. You can only have one model selected at a time. You can only mix a model with the mag pickups. WB HD gives you the option to do that. You can also do it if you are using a Pod HD500x. It's a blending feature. Blend mags with model.
  19. Yes you can do that as long as you stay with standard tunings of course.
