  1. If you physically tune any string down an octave it's not going to sound good.
  2. It is very possible that some that do not like the sound of their JTV have the string volumes set too high. If anything in the electronics saturates the modeling will be crap and it will sound terrible. I experienced this on my old Variax 500 when I upgraded to Ghost pickups. They had way too much output. I had to reduce the string volumes to about 50% to get back to goodness. I expected that so I did it right away. It now sounds far better than it did with the original Piezos.
  3. Well I stand corrected! The JTV69 Piezo's are not spring loaded. They are hard mounted in the bridge with the full string tension on them.
  4. Yes - slightly. Not all that obvious. You could replace the elements without replacing the saddle. They fit in underneath and were spring loaded. Not that was on a 500 with a fixed bridge. I never had a 600 with trem. I think it was the same though because both could be fitted with the Ghost pickups. I put them on my 500. Those were not spring loaded. The piezo was potted into the saddle itself.
  5. I do not think so. The bridge supports the string tension and the piezo sticks up against the string. That is how the old Variax piezo was and I thought that was how the JTV69 bridge works too. I have not had mine apart so I could be wrong on that. I know for sure that is now the original Variax bridges worked. Piezo's were spring loaded up through the bridge against the strings.
  6. I don't think that the string tension changes the pressure on the Piezos. They are spring loaded to the strings. Dynamics will change though. Lots of folks are using 11's on JTV's.
  7. Sorry if you are in a minority but big companies make decisions based on the market. It's really not that hard to modify a JTV for Left Handed play. Line6 is not going to make a left handed JTV (IMO).
  8. On a JTV69 you may have to adjust the Trem Springs to compensate for the increased string Tension with 11's to get the bridge level. (More spring tension required)
  9. Yes it is a WB bug. You have to read the threads here to see how to move one of the pickups in WB to fix the Spank problem. It's easy to do. I am confused about your update though. You do not do the Firmware update with WB you do it with Monkey.
  10. The mag pickups work with no power. The modeling will not engage until you press the modeling knob when power is applied through the switch in the 1/4 inch jack. The mag pickups also work when power is applied if the modeling is not enabled.
  11. Plugging in the 1/4 inch cable activates a power switch as well as making the connection to your amp. It sounds like that power switch isn't getting activated. You may have a defective switch. Try another guitar cable first though. Maybe yours isn't quite activating the switch properly.
  12. I have zero quality complaints with my JTV69-S. It's as good as my American Strat in every way. Maybe not all of them are that way but mine is and it was a "Demo" from Sweetwater.
  13. If you get any of it with just the mag pickups (battery removed) then it's the guitar setup itself. Look for something wrong at the bridge or nut or fretboard that is causing the G string not to ring out properly.
  14. Something is very wrong. The models should be quite loud and full. Have you tried Workbench? You can make significant adjustments with that.
  15. You might be able to shift the nut or just replace it. Also sight down the neck and make sure the strings are aligned with the edges. I looked at several JTV69's and some had the neck set crooked so the strings were not parallel with the neck. I picked one that was set correctly and my strings don't fall off the neck.
  16. See other posts on this. There is a WB bug. You have to move the pickups around to get both to work.
  17. Should not do that if you have no string buzz. It may be much more evident on the acoustic models. I would still try a slight action change and see if it has an effect.
  18. You might have to raise that string at the bridge. I had to raise the LowE and A on my 69S.
  19. There is absolutely no excuse for not having replacement parts for something like a JTV. I can see not selling them outright but any repair center should have access to them. If they do not then Line6 is not supporting their products in the field properly.
  20. Just think how autotune would interact with bending notes and using the Trem. You would have to have a way to lock it in when you are not playing.
  21. The piezos need a very high impedance charge amp buffer before being summed together.
  22. There is no way that I know of to get the individual string outputs but it should be possible to have an option to put out the un-modeled sum of the piezos out on the 1/4 inch.
