Umm, not necessarily so where the standard USB port might not be delivering sufficiently strong enough power to cope with the data load. A powered hub has been the solution for many, and a non-powered hub connected to the rear USB port of my PC (more power than the front USB ports) has been a great solution for me whereby my PG Edit works perfectly.

I did explain how to get into snapshots in both Pod Go and PG Edit! Not wishing to be unkind but I do get the feeling sometimes that some folk are simply not taking the time to read posts properly and are not investing time to read the Pod Go and PG Edit manuals, which are both well written with good graphics.

I did do the maths & was nowhere near the DSP limit & there was no overflow warning. It's to do with the set up of the patch - you can see the 6th FX in the block, but it simply isn't being seen by Pod Go in the PG display window even when a FS is assigned to it and PG Edit accepts the FX & the assignment. Does anyone know where this 6-block patch came from & is there a link somewhere eg on youtube?

There are certainly work-arounds with Pod Go, but if you genuinely need to use a lot of FX and are concerned re DSP, then I'd honestly suggest that something like a Helix LT, Mooer GE300 or even the Zoom G11 that's come way down in price now (way better than the awful stock presets might suggest, and a nice layout for gigging) might be a better fit for you. If a lot of the FX you need might be distortions, there are some really good options to gain stage with Pod Go without having to use multiple distortion blocks. If you need multiple versions of delay, reverb, modulation, pitch-shift etc then Pod Go may still be a bit restrictive for you, even with external pedals.

I can get 5 fx with the JSON file but not *6 - however, I can get a looper in the 6th slot for some reason so it's odd that I can't get a 6th FX block to work. I can physically add it but the 6th FX doesn't 'sound' and doesn't show in the PG display even when assigned a footswitch (* it's definitely not a DSP issue because I've selected low dsp amp/FX models)

If snapshots have been created they should be accessible when you download & import the patch. In Pod Go, press the up/down buttons at the same to access Snapshots to see 1-4, and click on each to hear the snapshot. In Pod Go Edit you can enter each snapshot from there too - just go into the snapshot menu at the top and select 1-4. Here's one I posted on Custom Tone - there are 4 snapshots you should be able to access. This was before the snapshot labelling & colour coding came in with v1.30, so they'll still just show 1-4 : https://line6.com/customtone/tone/5101684/ There's also a sound bite of these here for reference:

Using a Y splitter/combiner to switch amp channels
voxman55 replied to leonardoborges's topic in POD Go
For FS7/8 you need momentary, non latching footswitches. I use 2 x Bespeco VM20 footswitches that slot together. Just like the Boss footswitches but way cheaper. You'll need a Y cable, stereo TRS at the single end, and 2x mono ... one tip, one sleeve ( they'll typically be coloured one red, one black) -
Glad you got it sorted. But...c'mon - I appreciate you're not overly familiar with all this, and hence why you asked for help. But, & I'm sorry if this sounds a bit grouchy, when someone spends the time to respond to try & help you, it is a bit disappointing and a bit of a waste of effort if you don't actually read these? "Ah, in which case it should be easy. First, check the IR file is a .WAV file - if it's in a Zip file, you need to unzip it first. " Nuff said.

Sorry. you're right - I'd misunderstood. I certainly wasn't aware of any hack that gives you 6 user blocks - I'm intrigued how that was done because it wasn't referred to in the v1.30 update. I've loaded down the block & I can get 5 FX in but not 6. Can't be DSP as I've chosen very low DSP models. No overflow warning but hey, even 5 blocks is a win! Can anyone else get all 6 blocks to work? Update: I can't seem to add a 6th FX - well, I can add it but PG doesn't 'see it' in the display and even though it's lit in PGE and assigned to the spare FS, it has no impact on sound. But here's something crazy ....I can add a looper in the 6th slot - even 6 button! Just testing to see if it works properly, but seems to. So 5 user FX blocks plus a looper - wow!! Also, & don't know what I did, but for few minutes up popped 10 (yes TEN!) user slots with no amp or cab or wah or Volume??!!

I created it myself; in PGE go to the footswitch (normally FS2) and click on the 3 dots to see the assignments. Remove the FX loop assignment. Go to Output, and set your normal value to 0dB and your max value to +3dB (or whatever you want) & assign it to FS2. Save the patch, & you're done. In PG in FS2 in stomp mode you'll now see 'Level'. Press it and when it highlights, your +3dB clean boost is on. I've done this on several patches I've added to Custom Tone, including this patch ( Soldclean SCsnap ) . So for a 'quick fix' you can just copy the outblock block in this patch & overwrite the FS2 block on any patch you have: https://line6.com/customtone/tone/5101684/

I use 2 Bespeco VM20 momentary switches that slot together. Essentially a copy of the Boss footswitches, these are a fraction of the price but have great switching and are lightweight with the same robust metal cases. I don't like the small 'fiddly' double switches where the unit is too small and where the switches are too close together. These you can see easily, sit very well on the floor, and the pedal switches are a good size for your feet.
-
I frequently swap the fx block for another function, most typically I use it as a clean +3dB level boost for solos, where it's labelled 'Level'. The advantage of doing this is that I can kick it in regardless of what other effects are active.

Indoor only and wasn't the sensor. So far, not had any further problems (touch wood!). As the reboot back to factory fixed it, it would seem to have been a software glitch e.g. a software file path corruption. And so far I've not encountered any problems with subsequent firmware upgrades inc v1.30. I've still not yet had an opportunity to rehearse or gig with Pod Go but being cautious, I always take a back up mfx just in case.

Have you upgraded to v1.30? How are you connecting Pod Go? if you are connecting to Amp Out, and not main out or headphones, prior to v1.30 the Volume knob doesn't work when you're connecting via the 'Amp out' socket. In the latest v1.30 you now have volume control options (go into: Global Settings > Ins/Outs > Volume Knob) Global Settings > Ins/Outs > Volume Knob Prior to 1.30, POD Go’s Volume Knob only controlled the Main Outs (and Phones out, of course). Now you can choose whether it controls the Main Outs, Amp Out, or both. IMPORTANT: When connecting POD Go's AMP OUT to the input of a guitar or bass amp, we strongly recommend leaving Global Settings > In/Outs > Volume Knob to "Main Outs," as turning the Volume knob with any other setting will be like adding many boost pedals or attenuators between POD Go and your amp; that is, it'll probably sound totally wrong. Only set this to "Amp Out" or "Both" when connecting the Amp Out to a full-range, flat response (FRFR) speaker, studio monitor, or similar playback system.

What firmware version are you on? If not on v1.30, I recommend you update. If you are, suggest you log a ticket with Line 6 Customer Service & send them a full backup to see if they can identify/replicate & fix the problem.

In both factory & user sections?:

Ah, in which case it should be easy. First, check the IR file is a .WAV file - if it's in a Zip file, you need to unzip it first. There may be just a single .WAV file or there may be several versions of the IR eg with different mics or distances etc. Open up Pod Go Edit and click on the 'impulses' tab. Go to where you have the IR .WAV file saved and just drag the .WAV file you want to the first empty slot in the 'impulses' tag. Once that's done, open up up the preset you bought - I'm not sure if it will find the IR automatically. If it does, great. If not, go to the cab model in the preset, click on the 3 dots inside the white circle after the name of whatever cab it loads, and you'll see a normal red cab icon on the left, and a purple cab icon with a squiggly line on it on the right. Click the purple cab icon and on the left will be a list of the IR's you've loaded. Double click on the IR and it will load into the preset. Save the preset and you should be good to go.

When you bought the patch, did your purchase include a copy of the IR being used? If so, this would have been provided to you as a separate IR file (usually in .WAV format) which is different to a patch file. Although some third party IRs are available free, others have to be paid for. To explain, patches can only be transferred between users with Pod Go stock cabs. Patches cannot be transferred between users with a third party cab IR built in. The cab IR is totally separate to the patch. The IR being used has to be obtained separately and imported into your own Pod Go, then selected from your IR folder. This means that if I loaded a patch onto Line 6 Custom Tone that I had created using a third party cab IR that I had bought called 'JTM' when you downloaded the patch, it would not contain 'JTM'. Although you could still use the patch by selecting any stock cab, or any other third party IR cab you might have loaded into your Pod Go, if you did not have the same IR called 'JTM' loaded into your Pod Go, you would not get the same tone. If JTM was not a free IR, you would have to buy the IR separately from whoever created and sold the IR before you could load it into your Pod Go. I suspect you've bought the patch only and you would have to buy the cab IR used by JC separately from whoever he bought it from, in order to match the tone. If JC bought the IR he used from a third party creator, he would not be allowed to send that IR on to you.

If you haven't already, please do share those acoustic patches on Custom Tone. I for one would be very interested to try them, with my Washburn EA30.

I have the FRFR108 and yes, balanced TRS cables are what you need.

I hate to sound like a school teacher here, but your response suggests you havent read the manual or watched the excellent series of short Pod Go help videos from Line 6.... this could have saved you a lot of inconvenience. Pod Go is a great piece of gear, but it isnt plug and play and there is a lot of help you can get from the manual and vids to help you get the best from it.

If these are greyed out it means after your other selections you've probably just run out of DSP processing power. If you are newer to modern mfx loads of info here inc recent posts from me that might help your understanding as to how Pod Go works and the DSP cost of amp and fx selections.

Try rebooting your computer and then running PG Edit again.

Just posted on The GearPage, but well worth repeating here too I think! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Yees!! Very nicely done guys & thanks so much to the whole L6 team for all the hard work to get these enhancements to us! The footswitch & snapshot enhancements are a God-send for gigging, and love the option to use FS7/8 for scrolling banks, presets or snaphots, - again brilliant for gigging, as is the additional volume control parameters and the favourite settings feature is terrific. Plus of course it's always nice to have some new amp/fx models too - esp looking forward to trying out the Mandarin Rocker. Now, if you could just add an ice cold beer tap in v1.40, PG will be perfect!

You have to add a reverb in the fx block. For cleans and breakup I like Fender Blackface, Bassman, and Deluxe, and Vox AC30 and Soldano. The latter is a less obvious one that frankly never occurred to me, but building on an idea from someone else, I created a single versatile patch I made with it that includes cleans, chorus, reverb, delay, and different gain levels and a distortion pedal. You can get the patch to try yourself here, which includes a description of each 'snap' : https://line6.com/customtone/tone/5101684/ I also made a very simple demo of it here (starting with cleans, breakup, and working up to mild overdrive and then rock crunch:
