Try putting the delay trails on. It should help when moving between snap shots. -
Pod Go Edit is also v1.22

New GT10II only 2 hours battery life
voxman55 replied to hendrik_001973's topic in Relay Digital Wireless
In all honesty, no. The Boss WL20 (WL20L if you have active pickups) would seem to be a way better option - up to 12 hrs playing time, and simpler/tidier, with great reviews. Although both my G10T Mk1's would seem to be functioning at an acceptable level currently (see here:https://line6.com/support/topic/60937-for-all-g10-relay-users-who-are-getting-only-a-few-hours-playing-time-after-chargingyou-might-find-this-interesting/), it's clear that these units are behaving strangely, and frankly you don't need the aggravation with Line 6 if a new unit is not significantly better. And even if it gives 7hrs playing time, that's still only a tad over half of what the WL20 gives. -
Also, try resetting Pod Go back to factory settings by pressing foot-switches C&D as you start Pod Go.

I'd suggest the following, but not via the powered hub: 1. uninstalling and reinstalling Pod Go Edit because that's the first thing Line 6 Support will tell you to do. If that doesn't fix the problem then the next thing they'd tell you to do is 2. Create a full back-up, set Pod Go back to factory by pressing foots-witches C&D as you start up Pod Go, then re-install your back up. 3. If the above doesn't solve the issue, raise a Line 6 support ticket to tell them about the problem, but be sure to tell them that you tried a powered hub AND that you've already reinstalled Pod Go Edit AND reset back to factory, and attach a copy of the back up you created so they can test it. However, if you have access to a PC, also try installing Pod Go Edit on that and see if it works properly.

Like so many users of the Line 6 G10 Relay, I had a really good product that lasted around 7.5 to 8hrs between charges but was ruined by the v1.06 update after which it held charge for only 15 minutes. Having raised a ticket with Line 6 customer support, they arranged for collection of my original G10T and replaced it, assuring me that a new G10T should give 5.5 to 6 hrs use between charges. However, the replacement barely lasted 3 hours. So, I complained to Line 6. This time they assured me that they would arrange for a second replacement but that it would be tested before delivery. It was agreed that because of disappointing experience and delays with the first replacement that this needn't be returned as at least it gave me 3 hrs use between charges and I still had a G10T to use at home. The UK distributors confirmed that they had charged the 2nd replacement twice and that it lasted over 6 hrs on each occasion. (These claims seemed somewhat dubious in the very short time they had it from Germany to test before sending to me - I couldn't really envisage someone from a busy firm playing it for 12 hrs over 2 days over a weekend - but hey ho). On receipt I fully charged it but it lasted only 3hrs. This repeated several occasions thereafter. So, I complained again requesting a G10T II that reportedly should last 7 hrs. I was told that Line 6 were not prepared to replace with a G10T II, and to consider a refund I would have to find the original receipt (that was long gone) even though the original was registered with them and returned to them. As you might imagine, I was hopping mad and if Line 6 didn't get this sorted I was genuinely prepared to take it straight to Frank Ritchotte at Yamaha/Line 6 and as an absolute last resort (although I'm pretty confident Frank, who's a great guy, would've sorted it) legal action using the UKs small claims court 'claim for money' facilities. But then a very strange thing happened. Around the 5th or 6th charge, the G10T play time started to increase...4hrs, 4.5, 5.5hrs...and finally worked it's way up to a play time of 6.75hrs, virtually the same as the G10T II. Currently it's been averaging around 6.5hrs. So, being a very fair guy I disclosed this to Line 6 customer support but asked them to keep the ticket open for a month as I wanted to be confident that this would be the new norm. And even stranger - the original replacement G10T playing time started to increase after 6 or 7 chargings. Its now up to 6hrs 37 mins this evening. For those wondering, I time each use with my phone's stop watch and add time cumulatively, so my timings are ultra accurate. I also ensure the G10T is fully discharged before charging. So, my message to all of you fellow G10T users that have been disappointed with your G10Ts performance and perhaps angrily thrown it in the drawer, I'd urge you to retry it. BUT....make sure that you always fully discharge it and not try to do so when it just starts flashing red - I'm finding I get at least an hours playing time, if not more, once it starts flashing. Try your G10T a few times more, because something weird is definitely going on with these batteries and it could revive your G10T. I'm not a techie but perhaps it's to do with battery memory if charging from a non-fully discharged state. I'm not even sure if Line 6 has caught on to this, as I've not seen anything on this anywhere. Hope my experience here might be helpful.

Update: Line 6 told me to re-install.... but I didn't bother. The problem was that the PG Edit doesn't like the front USB ports on my PC. I have a 4-Hub (un-powered) plugged into a USB at the back of my computer, so plugged into that....and works flawlessly! Voxy is a happy bunny again!

Try the update again - make sure you've updated Pod Go Edit FIRST, before updating Pod Go itself. If you are still having difficulties, log a support ticket with Line 6.

What is your signal chain and where do you have reverb in your chain? It should either be at the end of your chain after your amp, cab and any delay, or alternatively for a spring reverb, this can also sound good between the amp and cab. Check that your room reverb doesn't have decay set too high; the stock setting might be too high here and may need turning down.
-
I'm going straight through the PCs USB inputs, so mains powered by definition.
-
Might be a silly question but how do I reinstall; do I have to remove PG Edit v1.22 first?
-
Hi guys, I'm on Windows 7 (64 bit) and whilst v1.21 Pod Go Edit was a tad flakey and would disconnect sometimes, since the upgrade to v1.22 Pod Go Edit I'm finding that's it's massively unstable, temperamental to load and will disconnect regularly. No problems with Pod Go v1.22. Is anyone else having similar problems or know why this might be happening?

Thanks for the heads up.

Tell you what, never mind Interstellar - if you can follow the film 'Tenet' you're a better man than me my friend!

Your Pod Go is functioning normally. You've hit the DSP (digital signal processing) limit and the effects greyed out indicate you don't have the processing power left to select those effects. All modern MFX work in a similar way. You get huge choice but some choices 'cost more' than others. For new users, especially those who are used to older style FX pedals that give less options but where you can't run out of processing power, it takes a mindset adjustment. But you will get used to it. In Pod Go you can select UP TO 4 user fx blocks, but you could run out before then. Certain effects like spring reverb use up a lot of your available DSP, as do certain amp choices e.g. a jumped Marshall Plexi. Manufacturers like Zoom and Mooer either show how much processing power is used via a meter, or they show a percentage figure (e.g. 28%) by each amp and effect listed in the units menu, so you know how much you are using. Line 6 doesn't do this as they want people to select models by the tone they like, rather than be 'distracted' by meters. In my view, I think Line 6 are 100% WRONG! Your very confusion ( and you are far from alone here!) demonstrates that many users, especially when they first get Pod Go, don't really understand about DSP usage and DSP management whereby you can select different but similar effects that have a lower DSP 'cost' thus releasing DSP to be used elsewhere. Fortunately, and with no thanks to Line 6, an independent guy has published a very accurate list of every amp and FX model that shows the DSP cost of each model in Pod Go and Helix devices. The site is here, just look for the Pod Go columns: https://benvesco.com/store/helix-dsp-allocations/

I completely agree. Just to clarify, the replacement IS the old version - it's still the Mk1 G10T not the G10T II

Hi guys & gals Thought I'd post an update on my G10T 'journey'. The first replacement lasted just 3 hrs between charges. I complained and Line 6 sent me a 2nd replacement through the UK distributor that was supposed to have been tested - I'm somewhat sceptical as they said that within 2 days they had ran it & recharged it twice and it held charge for a tad over 6hrs each time. How could they possibly find time over two working days to play guitar for 12 hrs plus charging time?! - and when I received it, the seal wasn't broken on the polythene packet. (I took photos) Hmmm Anyway: The first two times I charged it (fully depleted, and full charge) it again only lasted three hours. Here we go again, I thought! But since then I've had puzzling variations ranging from 4hrs to 6.75hrs - yup, you read that right...6.75 hrs (almost up to the 7hrs that a G10T II is supposed to give). The last 3 charges have given me: 6hrs 44 minutes, 6hrs 17 mins, and 6hrs 33 mins - so it looks like it might be settling down to some kind of consistency. If you're wondering how I can be so accurate with time, it's because I use the stopwatch on my phone to time; the moment I plug in the G10T I start the timer (accumulative mode), and the moment I stop playing, I stop the timer. I remove the G10T the moment I stop playing and it never goes back in the base unit until all power is depleted. I am playing at home in my den, so no substantial change in temperature/environment. Why there should have been such a range of playing periods (prior to hitting the 6hr+ mark) is beyond me. I've updated Line 6 but asked them not to close the ticket yet until I've satisfied myself over the next 4 weeks (I'm still working so can only really play over the weekend) that the G10T is consistently giving 6hrs plus playing time - if it does, then that's great and I'm happy to keep it - it's not the 8hrs of the original (which was the advertised time) but I'm a reasonable guy and to be fair Line 6 did let me keep the first replacement that gives 3hrs so I have a backup. But if the 2nd replacement doesn't, and reverts to large inconsistent variations of playing time (hours, not minutes), then I've told them they'll then need to replace with a G10T II, or provide me with a refund. They told me Line 6 aren't replacing G10T's with Mark II's, (which is of course utter rubbish as various folk on forums, including here, have had G10T II replacements). They also told me I'd have to provide the original receipt from umpteen years back - again, utter nonsense because the original was registered with them, and they've had it back - so I think that proves it existed! So I suggested that if we got to that stage, they should refer to Frank Ritchotte at Line 6 ( Frank's the Senior Operations Director at Yamaha and a great guy and I know he'd sort it). Anyway, so far so good & fingers crossed the 6+hrs consistency continues. Keep watching, for the next exciting episode of 'Voxman vs the Line 6 G10T'

Thanks @bahnzo - not quite sure what happened there but I've fixed the link. And repeated here too: https://line6.com/customtone/tone/5101684/

Yes it will do because Line is for powered speakers or out to the main board, not for a guitar amp. Through an amp you should have it set to 'Instrument'.

Speaking for myself, yes and yes.

Hi Thomas, per the manual: Trails Off: Any delay repeats or reverb decays are instantly muted when the block is bypassed. Trails On: Any delay repeats or reverb decays continue to decay naturally when the block is bypassed, or a different snapshot is selected. So, whilst you can have trails in the same patch and snapshots, as far as I'm aware I don't think Pod Go allows trails between patches. But you don't need to change amps. You can set up a single patch that will go from cleans to distorted and solve your trails problem. For an amp you can raise/lower eg gain/channel volume to vary amp gain. In a distortion pedal you can turn down the gain and raise volume output for lighter mild crunches, and crank up the distortion pedal and/or amp gain to give more distortion. I've just posted about versatile gig patches and there's a sound clip and a link to the patch. Everything you hear is from a single patch using snapshots. You can use the same principle with different amp and effect models. The great thing about snapshots is you can set any parameters in your amp, cab or FX differently. If you are using the stock cab models you can even have different mike types in each snapshot that can vary your tone too. Essentially, you can set up a single patch that could cover a whole gig just by using snapshots and stomps. And you have even greater flexibility if you add two additional momentary non-latching foot-switches to Pod Go in FS7 and FS8. You can kick in eg a modulation pedal in stomp mode - & if you use FS7 or FS8 you don't even need to go into stomp mode because FS7/8 operate regardless of the mode you are in which is very cool. So you could have eg FS7 kick in distortion and FS8 kick in chorus. But like all the Pod Go foot-switches these can be set for multiple operations eg kick in distortion and chorus but with a different amp, reverb or delay parameter. So Pod Go is hugely powerful. Unfortunately, unlike Helix, Pod Go doesn't yet let you name snapshots and multi-function footswitch settings - but Line 6 have said they would 'love to add these to Pod Go' so hopefully Line 6 will add these in a future firmware upgrade. https://line6.com/support/topic/60803-versatile-pod-go-patches-a-range-of-tones-from-a-single-patch/

As we all know, snap shot naming is not something that Pod Go yet has though hopefully Line 6 will be adding this in a future update. But one of the great things about Pod Go is that you can create a whole range of different tones from a single patch, and use snap-shots to switch seamlessly between them, as well as using the stomp mode to switch fx on/off. It's an immensely powerful piece of kit, and for fun a few months back I was playing around with the idea of a single patch that might cover a whole gig. I posted the patch on line 6 Custom Tone here: https://line6.com/customtone/tone/5101684/ I recorded variations from the same patch with a single guitar - my Patrick Eggle Berlin Pro that has humbucker and single coil options. The idea was to have a single patch where I could go from one extreme to another - from funk & jazz cleans, to glassy cleans (ala 'Pretenders') to light crunch (ala Wishbone Ash) right up to classic rock (ala Led Zeppelin and even Rush type tones). So I was wondering if anyone else had experimented with the same thing and if so I thought that just to make a change from the usual Pod Go queries it might be interesting to start a thread where folk could perhaps share their gig versatile patches with sound bites too. So, if you got 'em, please do share 'em!
