I assume you are referring to 'Pod Go Wireless'. And the answer is yes, Pod Go needs to be on in order to charge the G10 transmitter. From p9 of the new Pod Go Wireless manual: IMPORTANT! If you turn off POD Go Wireless while the G10T is in the Guitar/ Charge port, it will remain in sleep mode and slowly lose charge over a week or so. Not a problem if you play POD Go Wireless every day, but a huge bummer when you come back from vacation (which is why you should bring POD Go Wireless on vacation with you!). While in the storage well, the G10T may retain its charge for a month or more, so it’s ready to go when you are.

No its not different. You are asking for something that Pod Go cannot do. The amp models are maximised. The architecture of Pod Go is different to Helix because Pod Go is Pod, not a Helix. If you were happy with it before, why should that change? I've used Vox Valvetronix gear for years. My AD120VTX and Tonelab SE and LE all still sound great and are brilliant to use live. I don't start complaining about their tone now just because I now have a Pod Go. Great tone is great tone. I've been very pleased with my LG TV in HD. It doesn't become worse simply because you can now have 4k ultra HD. If I really want 4k uhd then I have to buy a 4k uhd TV. I can't expect LG to upgrade my TV to 4k because it simply wasn't designed to do that. If you want the over sampling and your mindset is that you always want the best, then buy a Helix and then you'll have the best of both worlds. But you can't turn Pod Go into a Helix and Line 6 made that very clear. And even if it could, at the next Helix update you'd still be unhappy all over again and want the new latest 'best'. Pod Go is a great unit. Further upgrades will follow hopefully follow to improve eg functionality...but it can't do what it can't do so you have to make a choice. Either you accept Pod Go for what it is and live with it and enjoy it, or buy a Helix or other high end unit that meets your needs. With some folk there is a genuine need, with others the fidelity is a ' nice to have but not vital', but with some folk it's a vanity thing ie they always want to have the best even if they don't actually need it. Either way, the choices remain the same.

OMG...I'm officially old and sad!! Lol Well, I try but I also learn a lot from others who know a lot more than I do. At the moment it's mainly just because of lockdown and no band practice or gigging.

You should upgrade Pod Go via PG Edit v1.21. You may need to reboot your computer before you can see the new models.
-
Dont know the answer but it might possibly pbe because the additional processing power required might just nudge it over the fixed EQ block allowance in Pod Go. But if you can use the Tilt EQ, does it matter?

Ok, latest intelligence suggests the Mk2 should be available in UK in next week or two and that these last 7 hrs. So I've told Line 6 Support if they can organise a mk2 replacement, I'm willing to try it before insisting on a refund. But no more faffing about with the Mk1s. Can't say fairer than that can I.

Disappointing re the Boss as reports have been good. I did see one video on Youtube compare G10 with WL20/WL50 and reportedly the sound was slightly darker but this is the first I've heard re aliasing so thanks for the heads up.
-
As I suspected, and as you rightly said all along @PierM it's bunkum. It lasted 3 hrs, the same as the initial replacement. I've written to Line 6 Support and requested a full refund of the original price I paid in 2018. Although I've been told that G10T mk2's are not available in Europe currently, I've lost all confidence in the product and now don't even want one of these now. I'll buy something else possibly the Boss unit.

I just set up a test patch with the compressor set to lower level toe down and increasing to selected maximum level heel down - as I mentioned, simply reverse the compressor level settings (or whatever parameter you were using). On my test patch I used Deluxe Comp, assigned EXP2 to 'level', removed all other assignments, (inc toe - so it just says 'none') set the top tab in PG Edit to -10dB and the bottom tab to +25dB, and when I select the patch with the EXP toe down, it starts at the lower dB level, and when I toe back it moves up to the maximum that I set. For clean boosts eg a 3dB lead boost, as I don't use the FX loop (typically FS2 in the factory patches) I merely assign FS2 to the output volume 'level' and with pedal off it's at 0dB, and pedal on its +3dB. Because it's output level it doesn't change my tone, just makes it louder. And because it's not linked to a pedal, the level boost can be used regardless of what FX I have switched on whereas in the above example, if I turn the compressor off then the EXP2 does nothing.

The oversampling was I believe requested by those using Helix for pro recording in a studio. From the perspective of playing through an amp, FRFR, FOH PA etc, you'll hear no discernible difference. But I don't understand your post. Firstly, Line 6 has always made it clear that Pod Go is a Pod, not a Helix unit, that it has less processing power than Helix, and so wouldn't be getting all the Helix upgrades (we'll get some it can cope with eg as in v1.21). If you liked Pod Go before, and it does what you want, and it now has some extra models it didn't have before, what's the problem? If you bought it only on the premise of what you hoped it might become rather than what it is, and are disappointed, then I'm afraid that expectation is purely down to you, not Line 6 who were straight-up about Pod Go from outset. Sure, there are things I'd like to see in Pod Go, but only from a functionality perspective - I'd like to have snap shot and switch naming like Helix has, 1 or even 2 additional FX blocks for extra flexibility (I'm aware it wouldn't change processing power), FS7/8 to appear in the display, and the option to use FS7/8 as patch up/down when in 6 button stomp mode. At least some of this is on Line 6's radar so hopefully the next upgrade will focus on functionality rather than extra amp/fx models (there's already so much in there already, I personally don't need or see the point of any more!). Now, if I don't get everything I'd like it doesn't detract from what I have and am very pleased with currently - they would be good to have, sure, but from hereon in any extras from future firmware upgrades are a bonus that I didn't have before. If these things were that important to me, I'd have bought a Helix LT, but like you it did all the main things I wanted, was compact & light and it's easy to use and I accept it's compromises as at the time it was around half the price of a Helix LT.

Definitely one for Line 6 Support to sort out for you. When you raise a ticket, send them a copy of your back up to see if they can reproduce the issue (in case it's a software glitch that they might be able to resolve) - if not, it's more likely then the Pod Go unit itself - & if so they will arrange for a replacement for you.
-
I'm inclined to agree, especially within the timescales shown previously and the sealed G10T - and because I'm sceptical I took a couple of pics of the 2nd replacement, still in its sealed bag, next to the 1st replacement. If it doesn't perform as promised I'll then insist on a G10T MkII or a full refund from Line 6. But let's not jump the gun - so far the new unit has been used for just under 2 hrs, so we'll see.

E&M Electronics, the UK distributor, were tasked by Line 6 to test it before delivery, E&M has confirmed in writing that they charged it and tested it twice and that it gave just over 6 hrs use between charges on both occasions. Line 6 confirmed in writing that a Mk1 in proper working order should deliver 5.5-6hrs. At the moment the jury is out and I will keep you posted. A couple of reasons why I'm sceptical though: 1. Although the box had clearly been opened, the polythene sealed packet with seal appeared to be unopened - but it's possible E&M were authorised to reseal this. 2. On 8/4/21 (Thursday) E&M said the G10T should be with them (from Germany) 'at some point next week'. On 12/4/21 (Monday) they said in an e-mail 09:19, they were sending it to me 'that day'. Now, if they didn't have it on the Thursday, where did they find time to do 12 hrs testing time on top of charging time? Hmm 3. The charging period seemed to be similar to the 1st replacement. Watch this space!

How frequently is your Pod Go Rebooting? What firmware version are you on and which version of Pod Go Edit do you have installed on your computer?
-
Thats annoying. Did you check the PSU for a loose connection?
-
Before v1.21, did you have a previous version of Pod Go Edit installed? If you are a new Pod Go user and hadn't installed Pod Go Edit before, you can't install v1.21 on its own and upgrade Pod Go because it's only an update program and not a stand-alone full installation. Uninstall Pod Go Edit v1.21, install an earlier version (any of the previous versions is fine eg v1.1 and then upgrade to v1.21 via the upgrade feature in Pod Go Edit v1.1.
-
That thought had occurred to me too. It's possible, but if there was a loose connection I'd have expected all power to go and the screen to go blank, rather than reboot. I still think it could be a possible software glitch but I agree it's certainly worth checking the PSU for a loose connection.

It's a shame as the G10 was great and previously served me well. The poor battery cover design in the G30 puts me off it. You really shouldn't have to fix it with elastic bands when it breaks. I've just had a second replacement from Line 6 which I'm told has been tested and lasting over 6 hours. I'll test it this weekend.

If you switch the FX off, what happens to your volume? (And shouldn't a compressor best go at the front of the chain?)
-
Not heard this before. Suggest that the first thing to do is create a full back up, then reset your Pod Go back to factory by switching off, and then restarting whilst holding down buttons C & D. then reimport your saved patches. Most often these things are a minor software-filepath corruption, which the reset will fix 95% of the time. If you still have problems after doing this, I recommend you raise a ticket with Line 6 support and attach a copy backup for them to look at. But I'm reasonably confident the reset will fix it.
