  1. Ideally, when using any MFX with a guitar amp, it's best to go through the fx loop return so that you're bypassing the preamp stage that colours the tone, and just uses the amp as a power amp. Unfortunately, if I recall correctly, I don't think Pathfinders have an fx loop. So it's important to set the amp as clean as possible. However, putting the Pod Go through the front end of any of my amps doesn't stop me getting clean tones, not even on my single channel Laney Cub 12R. However, guitars with humbuckers will distort more easily. So something doesn't seem quite right ... although it could be a combination of factors. First thing to try is a different guitar cable, and the different outs on Pod Go. You might have the noise gate switched on. Try switching this off or at least ease the settings down.
  2. There's nothing wrong with the PodXT - it's a decent MFX unit in its own right and just because something is older, doesn't mean you should immediately discard it. Prior to lockdown I was gigging with a Vox Tonelab SE that was way ahead of its time back in 2004 when it came out and still sounds great live with terrific gigability control. But the reality is that technology changes and the Helix modelling is a cut above & pretty much right up there with any other top modellers you can buy. The ability to import IR's can make a huge difference to your tone (there are some great IR packs out there to buy and even a lot of the free ones are pretty good). I bought the Pod Go because I wanted something much smaller & lighter than my TLSE but that was still gigable, and sounded brilliant with headphones, through the PA, or powered speaker. The TLSE was always 'meh' through headphones and its speaker cab emulations are its real weak spot with no ability to import IR's. So for under £400 I've had a great sounding MFX with Helix modelling (yes, its the same quality as in Helix floor and LT) that I've been thoroughly enjoying through lockdown, it sounds fabulous through my Audio Technica ATHm50x headphones, and Headrush FRFR108 powered cab, and meets my home & is highly likely to meet my gigging needs too. It's light, compact, and PodGo Edit is excellent. Some new upgrades are on the way too (don't know timing/details). Helix Stomp is more powerful & you'll benefit from all the new features in Helix v3.0 that Pod Go won't get (at least not in full, as it has lower processing power). HX Stomp is perfect for studio/recording and using as part of an extended pedal board. But it has limited footswitching control (although you can add a MIDI controller and expression pedal) so is not the best choice if you want a single stand alone MFX - for me, that was the attraction of Pod Go - I'm not a home studio/recording guy, I need a single stand alone MFX for gigging. However, there is now the new bigger Helix Stomp XL that has way more Foot switches and solves that problem and whilst it has no expression pedal, and just as for Helix Stomp, its easy to add an external one. So, it's very much a personal thing & depends on your needs. But the Pod Go tonal capability & modelling quality is a BIG leap above Pod XT and I don't think you'll be disappointed. PodGo is really easy to use, with a clear manual - if an old fart like me can suss most of it out in a few days, you should have no problems. But as always don't go too much by the factory presets - some are OK but others (a problem with all MFX) are a bit 'meh' and are there just to give you an idea re its capabilities. A best of both worlds, but a bit more expensive, might be a pre-owned Helix LT - twin chip, top of the range processing power but with all the floor control you're likely to need in a single unit.
  3. Absolutely - huge +1! It's there for info, but is totally irrelevant - all the effects in Pod Go/Helix are cracking quality - they wouldn't be in there if they weren't. Some of the same effects appear on both lists. There may be different tonal and/or parameter nuances between each version. The thing about tone is that we all hear/like different things. If you love the MXR Dyna Comp in one of your big 4 pedal Line 6 effects, and preferred it to the Helix version, it means you still have it in Pod Go and you don't need to go without it or have to take it to gigs too. It's all about giving you choice. Ignore the list, and go by your ears when choosing fx versions.
  4. The darker shades indicate new effects designed specifically for Helix. The lighter shades refer to effects that come from legacy Line 6 products.

    Pod Go

The article was just to show you who he is at Line 6; he posts here and on the Gear Page forum under digital igloo and he was responding to us folk asking about a Pod Go upgrade. Once it's ready it will be announced here with links and instructions for the upgrade with details of what's been included.

Hmm, a Line 6 rep? Well kind of. You really must be new. Lol Digital Igloo is Eric Klein. He is THE man behind the modelling at Line 6 - he is the Chief Product Design Architect. If Eric says there's an update coming, you can bet your house on it as he's the guy ( supported by the excellent Line 6 team of course) designing it. Good enough for you? See the link: https://blog.line6.com/2020/11/27/eric-klein-talks-helix-3-0-with-joe-gore/
  7. It is a feature that more folk are asking for, and as you say, some MFX offer this e.g. the new Zoom G6 allows up to 2hrs per loop to be created & saved via a built in SD card reader. So you can save and recall whole collections of saved loops.

    Pod Go

Yes there is, @Digital_Iglooat Line 6 confirmed an upgrade is on the way 'soonish'. We don't know content but cryptically he indicated 'no real surprises' which suggests some of the less DSP hungry upgrades in Helix/Helix Stomp from v3.0. We have been told that snap shot naming and muti-footswitch naming won't be included in this upgrade, but is 'high up' on Line 6's 'to do' list, so possibly next time round.
  9. If you look at the list of effects in the manual, you'll notice that there are darker and pastel colour codes, which match the illuminated stomp switches in Pod Go. The lighter colours relate to effects from legacy Line 6 products, including effects in the 3/4 button larger Line 6 pedals and others. So, whilst all the amp and cab models are from Helix, a significant number of the fx modelling is from legacy products. Because Pod Go has Helix amp and cab models, that are significantly superior to older units like Pod XT, it's pretty much a foregone conclusion that Lìne 6 won't go backwards on the amp and cab modelling quality, but will from time to time bring out firmware updates with sone additional amp, cab and fx models. The recent Helix v3.0 upgrade introduced some new fx, amp and cab models, and it is anticipated that Pod Go will get at least some of these in the forthcoming Pod Go update. (But it won't get the DSP hungry fx as Pod Go doesn't have the necessary processing power).
  10. Contact Line 6 support via raising a support ticket - I'm fairly sure they will replace your G10T . They are very aware of problems arising from the latest firmware upgrade - mine was perfect, used regularly, and I upgraded to latest version a week or two back due to the overheating warnings. Mine ended up the same as yours and Line 6 are replacing it (UPS picked old G10T today in fact). The overheating problem means that the charging cycle is now reduced so the G10T holds less charge and therefore will not last as long. New units should still give 5-6 hrs according to Line 6 support, but not the previous 8 hrs. However, there have been complaints that even replacement units have only lasted 2-3 hrs. I'll see how my replacement does. There is a new G10TII coming (sneak pics have been found with a new Pod Go wireless version) and best understanding is that this seems a bit bigger and may have a longer usage before recharging. It's not particularly ideal, and it means that the new G10T or post firmware upgrade G10T is now not as advertised when customers bought it. There are a lot of posts on this here and on-line on other boards. I really wish I hadn't upgraded the firmware in mine as it was performing perfectly and lasted 7-8hrs. But what's done is done, and we are where we are.
  11. In this case I think never is appropriate. Line 6 have said it won't be - it's beyond Pod Go's capabilities and ethos. Now, if there's a Pod Go II with advanced processing capabilities, then it might be a possibility.
  12. If you're referring to Benvesco, make sure you are looking only at Pod Go, not Helix - Helix is dual-chip & is a lot more powerful - if you were looking at the Helix figures, any equivalent percentage for Pod Go will be a lot more. The Polypitch is the new one in Helix v3.0 The Benvesco figs are (from left to right Helix stereo, Helix mono, Pod Go): 3 simple pitch Line 6 Original pitch/synth hx 7.07% 13.33% 9.78% 4 dual pitch Line 6 Original pitch/synth hx 9.47% 18.67% 14.46% 4.2 Poly Pitch Line 6 Original pitch/synth hx 53.33% 60.65% na
  13. Ahhh...that suggests external interference may have been the cause, most probably from your ring mains eg with something else plugged in somewhere creating noise. Digital gear is very sensitive to mains fluctuations and particularly in the US 'dirty electricity' can be a problem and why so many folk buy line conditioners to stabilise the voltage/current going into their (esp digital) gear.
  14. FTFY - Line 6 have already confirmed this because Pod Go has insufficient processing power. Here's the DSP usage, from left to right, Helix Stereo, Helix Mono, Pod go mono 3 simple pitch Line 6 Original pitch/synth hx 7.07% 13.33% 9.78% 4 dual pitch Line 6 Original pitch/synth hx 9.47% 18.67% 14.46% 4.2 Poly Pitch Line 6 Original pitch/synth hx 53.33% 60.65% na
  15. I think I had double vision there! lol Send Line 6 support a full back up of your patches - might help them to see what's going on. Are you on the latest v1.12 firmware?
  16. You can currently select and use up to 4 flexible effect blocks in addition to the volume, wah, EQ, amp, cab that are fixed blocks you can't remove. I say 'up to' because different amp and fx models use up different amounts of DSP ( digital signal processing) allocation. Depending on what you select you might find that 3 fx are the most you can add, or in extreme cases only 2. E.g. Spring reverbs will use up a third of your allowance, and a jumped amp model will use up around 40% of your DSP allowance.
  17. That's interesting and I'll certainly be asking if any replacement can be with a new version.
  18. There you again with your spin. I write one thing and you read something different. I know there will be no product recall because they've met their safety obligations as I said, and I specifically said a recall doesn't apply here. With all respect you need to read and take in what people are writing otherwise your responses won't be providing the value you intend.
  19. You do have a tendency of adding a little 'spin' to my posts. I'm not 'proposing' anything - merely asking questions. What you're saying may have some validity but it is Line 6 to whom the questions will be asked, and it is for them to respond to these. I intend to ask them those questions. But in instances where companies are required to do a product recall on any product they of course have no option, although here may be certain insurance provision in place to support them. However, It appears this is not the case here as Line 6 appear to be managing the safety aspect responsibly. Although the reduced functionality won't be of concern to the relevant safety agency, this will be a matter for the company to address with its customers.
  20. Thanks, I wasn't looking to buy one - I was simply using it as an example of an equivalent unit where the battery life is 12 hrs i.e. this appears to be a design/technology issue. If the G10 cannot safely do what was purported, then surely this means the original design had to be wrong.
  21. Agreed, I have a number of questions to put to Line 6 about this as the situation is not a satisfactory one. Theres clearly a design issue, as the Boss WL50 which is comparable to the G10S, gives 12 hours battery life. I'm sure Line 6 will replace the unit, but this is a short term fix only and customers deserve to know what Line 6 intend to do longer term.
  22. Sorry, but you misunderstand me. Firstly, I'm not griping, I'm discussing the problem. Secondly, I'm not expecting Line 6 to roll back it's firmware, as I fully understand its position...I merely said it would be nice if that were possible. There have been a number of firmware upgrades and I'm unclear whether the overheating issue impacts on all firmware versions or only specific ones. If for example the problems arose e.g. with v1.3, and there is no issue with e.g. v1.1, then might that not be a possibility? At this stage we have a lack of information, hence I'm simply looking to ask questions. What I do expect is for Line 6 to replace the unit, which I'm sure they will do. I would then like to explore with them what longer term solution they propose. It's clear they have been forced to alter the parameters of the current units for safety reasons. However if the new parameters, vis a vis battery life between recharges, is significantly reduced, this is clearly a short term fix that leaves customers with a specification that falls short of the original and on which customers based their purchase decision. At some stage Line 6 will develop a replacement that solves the problem. This seems likely because the Boss WL-50 is a compatible product (at least with the G10S, but the G10 and G10S transmitter is the same, and it's the transmitter that has the problem) at a similar price point that offers up to 12 hours battery life per charging cycle. So there is clearly technology to resolve the problem. Will Line 6 be offering customers a new model replacement, once available, without charge? Will it offer the new model at a significant disount? Will it offer a full refund to unsatisfied customers? In short, I think there are some reasonable questions to be asked of Line 6.
