I hear you, and completely get your perspective. As you say, let's see.

To not believe it's software and still stick to your belief it's physical when the Lead Product Tester for Line 6 has confirmed it's software .... The question has been asked and answered - but if you think Line 6 are wrong, then I think you should definitely apply for a job with them so you can sort them out. Btw I've also flagged the smaller non click knobs issue.

Hi guys, I've just heard back from Line 6 (their Lead Product Tester), and this IS a software glitch as I suspected "Hey Rich, Yes this is a known issue we have logged and hope to have fixed for the next firmware update. I can't say for certain that it will be addressed, but it is logged and the team is aware of it."

Quick update - I'm not a techy so I can't verify this, but it's been suggested to me that if you combine the 5 outs in the LVL5 you lose the isolation and can get noise. So for Pod Go, the Diago might be best unless there's any reason why you shouldn't use it with Pod Go (if the voltage & mA's are right I can't think why there would be any problem but I'm caveating only because i'm not a techie & I don't know what I don't know! lol).

I think most of us would agree that the Pod Go is a smashing bit of kit - but let's be honest, it's power-supply iets it down. It's cheap & nasty with an ugly 'wallwart', and a short thin cable that might be OK for home use, but it just is not gig worthy. So, whilst looking for a quality, noiseless PSU solution to power my mini-3 pedal FX board that goes into the FX loop of my Vox Valvetronix AD120VTX amp, I found two solutions that also have enough juice to power the Pod Go. Surprisingly, Pod Go needs 9v at 2,500 mA according to the spec, hence the 3,000 mA PSU. A good quality gig-worthy PSU isn't cheap, but if you are a gigging player and need something a lot more robust, then the following might well fit the bill. Option 1: Fender Engine room LVL5 . Isolated PSU, that is powered through a standard IEC (amp/ 'kettle') lead. So no wallwart and being an IEC easily available spare cable. I'm in the UK so here it will have a standard 3-pin plug. It has 5 x 500mA isolated outlets that can be daisy chained to connect a single device at 2,500mA. Very compact and noiseless. And if you are US, no problem - can be used for 100v-240v AC. Store price (UK) c£89 https://www.andertons.co.uk/guitar-dept/guitar-pedals/pedal-power-supplies/fender-engine-room-lvl5-power-supply-230v-uk Option 2: Diago Powerstation Multi Pedal 9v Power Supply. Very similar to a laptop cable, and again no ugly wallwart PEDAL POWER WITH 6 WAY DAISY CHAIN CABLE SPLITTER. UP TO 3A OUTPUT. For Pod Go, you won't need a daisy chain splitter. Price c£100 https://www.andertons.co.uk/guitar-dept/guitar-pedals/pedal-power-supplies/diago-powerstation-multi-pedal-9v-power-supply

Pod Go is simply a tool that can be used in a number of flexible ways. Set up wise it can go through the front end of an amp, an fx return, 4 cable method, through an FRFR powered cab, or direct into the FOH PA. Or for recording it can integrate with your DAW. Plus it can be used with headphones. I'm fortunate to have a few options with some pretty good guitars, several MFX Inc Pod Go and Vox Tonelab SE/LE/ST, a conventional pedal board, and 5 amps. Each has its charms, advantages and limitations, but I like them all for different uses. Nowadays, I simply can't schlapp big heavy amps, so I gig now with an MFX straight through the PA. Whatever works for you, sounds good and meets your needs is the right set up for you.

I have Audio Technica ATH m50x headphones and with the PG volume knob at between 12 and 3 o'clock, the volume is plenty loud. Some amp models, e.g. the new Princeton, are noticeably quieter than others especially set clean. Make sure you have your PG set to Line out.
-
Not strange but perfectly logical because most users will use an amp with a cab or IR, and only a relative few will use it for fx only. Amp/cab modelling is the primary reason why folk buy the Pod Go - for those that don't want amp/cab/IR Pod Go isn't ideal and the HX FX is likely to be the better option as It's more powerful than Pod Go & can give all the Helix FX from the latest Helix firmware upgrade inc and allow many more FX in your chain than Pod Go. It has capacitive touch buttons and scribble strips, stereo in and out, dual effects loops, two external control outs, MIDI, five polyphonic effects, 12-string emulation, and a shuffling looper. Enhancements include a Favourites model list for amp and effect edits (as well as footswitch assignments), the ability to save default settings for every amp, cab, or effect block, and your custom settings appear every time you load the block. And price wise it's the same price or even a bit cheaper than Pod Go.

You might be right, I honestly don't know. But I'll flag your thoughts to L6 support and see what they say.
-
Yes, I agree the other knobs are a nuisance too. I still think the selector is software though. I'm discussing both with L6 Support
-
No, but it's intermittent and if you go back on a stuck click it works. Feels like a software issue as the knob clicks firmly & correctly.
-
Yes, you create a preset. Each Stomp block can be set not only to turn a pedal on/off but you can change parameters too eg different gain levels, or activate several pedals simultaneously if you want to. Very, very flexible. You can even add 2 additional momentary footswitches in FS7/8 to give you even greater stomp control.
-
Not serious at all, all Pod Gos have this. I suspect it's just a minor software bug...I've again flagged to Line 6 support.
-
Hi, this is the same on all Pod Go's so it's not specific to your unit. I think it's just a minor bug that's mildly annoying. I've raised this previously with Line 6 support but I've just asked Line 6 support again to try & fix it in the next firmware upgrade.
-
Interesting, thanks Phil
-
Hi @phil_m I was just wondering in what situations (other than to save some DSP) why you might opt for a pre-amp with no power-amp section & thus less tweaking flexibility, rather than a full amp model? Just wondered if I'm missing a trick here?
-
If you save your patch with the amp model highlighted, when you open the patch it will give you the amp controls. But there's no 'permanent' amp control feature in Pod Go. The Zoom G11 has independent amp controls, which is an excellent feature if you are a gigging player:
-
No probs, glad that helped. A feature I'd like to see is that if you add 2 momentary footswitches in FS7 and FS8, when in 6 stomp mode that there is an option to use these as patch up and patch down so that you can change patches without having to leave stomp mode.
-
Press the 2 up/ down footswitches on the far left at the same time to switch out of snaps. If you've gone into stomp mode within snaps, press the mode switch to get back to snaps, and then up/ down switches as above to get back to patch mode. 're stomp mode, there is a global option to see only 4 blocks instead of 6, where you can still use the up/ down switches to move patches up or down. You may need to change some of the pedal switch positions to see the stomp options you want as by definition, 2 of the 6 Windows will not show in 4 stomp mode.

Sorry Jimmy, my mistake - it's the same software for both & it now has full support for macOS 11 Big Sur . https://line6.com/support/page/kb/pod/pod-go/pod-go-121-r976/ Only thing I can think of is that either there's an issue with your cable or your USB port in your mac that is stopping the data getting through. If you have a different USB port, try that. Otherwise you'll need to raise a ticket with Line 6 Support to see what they recommend. But you are just trying to ONLY update PG EDIT first, aren't you? (You can't update Pod Go itself until that's done). But what version of Pod Go Edit and Pod Go are you on currently?
-
You have to update Pod Go Edit first. But it looks like you have the PC version of PG Edit ....is there a different version for a Mac e.g. compatible with 'Big Sur'.?
-
snaphots Snapshots make alien sounds when switched.

Good to know it's only legacy fx that are impacted not HelixFX ,thanks for sharing. -
I have only v2.0 USB front and back. As @silverhead mentioned, sometimes front ports are hubbed behind the panel whereas rear ports aren't. Hence why I think rear USB worked for me.
