    Big Sur

It's totally futile - he won't believe you. Most of the serious music plug-in people have warned their users off until further notice, but "drybonz" refuses to accept that it's an issue with the Mac OS.

Ahem! Ooops! This is where it all started. ;-). Just kidding. Now, any ideas as too what we all would like to see in the Helix v. 3.1 firmware? :-O
  3. Ahh! Two computers - now I see. Sorry this fix didn’t work for you on this occasion, although sometimes it has. Hope you manage to get back up and running quickly. Regards
  4. Not much anyone can about that, if that is what you think. If only Line 6 could put that in a box, they would sell... oh, possibly one. Shame.
  5. Hi, I stole your wet and dry MP3 files and dropped them into Logic, and without doing very much apart from adding a plate verb in Helix Native - got this. O.K. if you get into doing a proper analysis then they aren't exactly the same, but for the less than a couple of minutes I spent in this - I could live with it, or spend more time getting it nearer. Although as it isn't me that is so concerned that I would go back to POD Farm - Nah! near enough.

Well, it made me grin, but I’m very old and not “woke”, as the young people might say. And, who the hell is Nancy and how did she get in here?

    Big Sur

Nothing to do with this then - purely a Line 6 issue?
  8. Fine. It just seems that there was also a lot of grumbling about how Big Sur rolled out. It was hardly perfect. Plus as I mentioned in a prior post, I would guess that Line 6 are busy at the moment getting ready to roll out their new firmware. Any intermediate fixes for bugs in Apple’s OS only detracts from the bigger thing. Consider the investment in making a temporary patch for HX Edit when the fully tested version is probably just over the horizon. Personally, I will wait.
  9. They are to anyone who was around when the Andy Summers sound debacle kicked off with ”itsslash”, or was it “Iamtheone”, and his futile insistence on trying to match the “Massage in a Brothel” tone. Search for “Helix cannot reproduce this tone” to see why. Stay safe
  10. I would guess that Line 6 have bigger things on the go at the moment. Although I wouldn’t be surprised if the call that went out for extra beta testers was tied into ironing out the wrinkles of getting the next Helix firmware to play nice with the new Apple OS.

    Big Sur

Well, I'm going to be giving it a Big "No Sir" for a long time.
  12. OMG - I bet you will say POD Farm can re-create Andy Summers tone perfectly too. This is very familiar - the gauntlet is thrown down. Reveal the magic of the Plate verb.

    Big Sur

Hi, It appears that some users “Think Different”, as in this thread.
  14. That’s correct, but from what I found out, the Gatekeeper issue with Big Sur was slightly different as the problem was more to do with Apple’s Servers. Quote: “The problem was determined to be server-related, with an issue on Apple's side preventing Apple's certificate checking function from working properly.” That contains a link to appleinsider.com
  15. Hi, It sure has been available, but from the reactions on the internet, even Apple couldn’t get it right for their own installation routines. When Apple brings out a new OS it is always the third party developers that are criticised. I really don’t get it. Could be worse if you have a 128GB drive. https://www.macworld.co.uk/news/dont-update-big-sur-128gb-mac-3798034/ or https://www.macworld.co.uk/how-to/fix-macos-installation-3624050/
  16. Hi, I have PodFarm and a Helix floor - can you guess which one I use everyday without any issues? Oh, yeah, big plate reverb, mmm... well that can be solved by sticking a third party reverb in one of the FX Loops. Very easy and can also be extremely cheap -simply buy a Zoom MS-70 CDR which has a large plate setting. You gotta be kidding!

    Big Sur

Hi, Same here, and not just Line 6, but I had the same recommendation from AKAI Pro, Native Instruments, IK Multimedia, Eventide and a few more. The internet is alive with stories about problems with Big Sur and has someone pointed out, why is it so big. It s causing installation problems with 128GB SSD, there are reports of USB issues plus a huge screw up of the Gatekeeper. Avoid it like “COVID 19”
  18. Hi, You say that you “had” the same problem. If so, does that mean you now no longer have this issue, and for the benefit of others - how did you resolve it?
  19. Hi, You could have a listen to these, and as you mentioned the 80s chorus tone, check out the last demo named “MB Wanged” which is dead on Wang Chung - Dance Hall Days. https://mbritt.com/product/m-britt-helix-preset-pack-1/ Oh, of course, caveat emptor applies - if you buy anyone’s presets, it doesn’t mean that you will sound like them. You’re buying the building blocks not the skill. A Steve Vai or Joe Satriani preset doesn’t endow you with their talents, but what do you expect for around a dollar a piece. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  20. Hello, once again, You still haven’t said what your computer and Operating System is, and but let’s try this. First go to the "DOWNLOADS" menu at the top of this page and from "-ALL HARDWARE-" select Helix, then leave the "-ALL SOFTWARE-" as it is, now select your PC/Mac OS from under the "-ALL OS-" tab, then click “GO”. From the next page you can select HX Edit 2.92 for your Helix, then below that you will also need the Firmware 2.92 Flash Memory. Now scroll right the way down the page where you will find Line 6 Updater version 1.9. Download all these items to your Computer. Ensure that HX Edit is closed and that you have your Helix connected to your PC by USB cable (do not use a hub, some front USB ports on PCs act like a hub) and hold down Foot Switches 6&12 while turning the power on. (You may see a black or error screen, but keep going). Now, launch the Updater Utility and select "Offline Mode". Your Helix and current firmware version should now show up in the window, click on the dark green coloured band and you should now have the option to select a local file - point it at the Flash Memory file you downloaded and let it get on with the update. When it completes you can install the new HX Edit v.2.92 software and you should be good to go. No guarantees are given or implied, you do this at your own risk. If it doesn’t work, raise a ticket with Customer Support. Hope this helps/makes sense
  21. Hi, There is an orange banner at the top of the page which warns against updating Mac OS to Big Sur. "We recommend that you wait until Line 6 software product compatibility with macOS 11 is announced before updating to the new operating system. Compatibility is currently being tested and will be ensured in upcoming software updates." I had an email a few days back from Line 6 stating the same. I also had emails from Eventide, IK Multimedia, Native instruments and a few others saying the same sort of thing., which is why I try to avoid Mac updates as soon as they come out - usually stuff stops working. I realise it's no help to you at the moment , but it looks like lots of software developers are running to catch up. https://techcrunch.com/2020/11/12/macos-apps-wont-launch/?guccounter=1&guce_referrer=aHR0cHM6Ly93d3cuZ29vZ2xlLmNvbS8&guce_referrer_sig=AQAAAM_qeMNUJtCuH_s65SiChdbuhXlJ1Hr3BO2A_Yz6VQefHiD6nu9FVbMHgYv9vuyVq6L2DILZTQxq1wE81EUtJgpe6nhT1ljTm9KRYwDLsO1QsGD21SKxTQQmm6BtJOTHzpsummNRnN-D7-85dyaynNdEDndVVvb9aHiDSe0mQ9uL Edit: prior to Big Sur there was a work around for the “malicious software” thing by simply going into the system Prefs and allowing the install to be performed. It’s documented around here somewhere or just Google it.
  22. Hi, Well, if you need more help from users here, the best thing you can do is give as much information as possible about what computer and OS you are using and EXACTLY what you were doing before the error occurred. You say that you managed to update from 2.30 to 2.70, but it's not exactly clear what stage you are at and what you are trying to do? I would imagine that you are trying to get your hardware up to v2.92, but you are now stuck? is this correct? You must help us to help you. Hope this makes sense
  23. Hi again, Doug, It seems that the layout on the screen has changed since the older screen grab. If you look again, you can see that what previously was the "File Folder" contained the plug ins with the rescan options. Now on your screen shot you will see that the "Plug-Ins" now have their own selection tab - it has been added in Ableton Live 10.1 and above. RESCAN for Plug-Ins routine should now be. If the relevant plugin files are in the above folders, perform a rescan: Launch Ableton Live and go to: Windows: Options > Preferences Mac: Live > Preferences Select: Plug-ins tab (Ableton Live 10.1 and above) or File/Folder tab (Ableton Live 10.0 and below) Toggle Use VST button off and on again: Ableton Live 10.1 and above: Under Plug In sources, toggle Use VST3 Plug-In Custom (Win)/System Folders (Mac) off and on again. Ableton Live 10.0 and below: Under Plug In sources, toggle Use VST Plug-In Custom (Win)/System Folders (Mac) off and on again. Hold down the [Alt/Option] key and click Rescan. Hope this helps makes sense Also check here: https://help.ableton.com/hc/en-us/articles/209071729-Recommendations-for-using-VST-plug-ins-on-Windows
