  1. Hi, I can see that there is a response from “Sean_2e” saying it is working fine, but, a couple of days back I had an email from Line6 (plus one from each of Native Instruments, IK Multimedia, AKAI Pro, Sonivox and Eventide) suggesting that updating to Big Sur should be avoided until all the compatibility checks are cleared from them. Sensible request, because if you then have issues with the software, how are they going to be able to supply support? There is even a note about Mac OS 11, in an orange banner at the top of all these forums. YMMV, but I learned a long time back to not be an early adopter of Mac OS updates. I still run Logic 10.4.x and in next to no time it has jumped up to v10.6. Quite a leap in a short space of time considering how long it took previously. I remain wary with anything that could be regarded an “mission critical”.
  2. I think it is on his planet! This madness started a few weeks back on the Helix Native forum. It doesn’t become anymore coherent.
  3. Hi, I hope Sweetwater have solved the issue with the HOW preset bundles. Recently some one bought the HX Stomp package and the presets wouldn’t load because they exceeded the block limits of the Stomp. See link. Hope this makes sense.
  4. Hi C_berg1980, I think that, even though you have the correct IR for the preset, you possibly have it installed in the wrong slot, therefore the preset cannot detect it. Basically that is what the Error MSG is stating - you really only need to move the IR to the position where the preset expect to see it, or remap the preset to see the IR where you have place it and resave the preset with the updated IR link. Hope this helps/makes sense. EDIT: See page 17 in the owner’s manual regarding custom IR loading. https://line6.com/data/6/0a020a41cde35e68fab84d2fe/application/pdf/POD Go 1.10 Owner's Manual - English .pdf or this may be better, see pages 9-11 https://line6.com/data/6/0a020a411830a5e82b422a0cd3/application/pdf/POD GO EDIT - Pilot's Guide - English .pdf
  5. Hi, Here ya go! https://support.apple.com/kb/PH24928?locale=en_US Hope this helps/makes sense.
  6. As mentioned by “rd2rk” you need to post a request in Ideascale and see if others vote for it. Meanwhile, if you want to have a better idea of what amps and effects are guzzling in DSP you should check this - forum user Malhavok’s (Ben Vesco) listing of DSP allocation in Helix. https://benvesco.com/store/helix-dsp-allocations/ Hope this helps/makes sense
  7. It's such a shame that this forum doesn't have emoji's anymore.
  8. Well, you're a little late with that "news". The site maintenance started over a week ago and it has been off line a couple more times since. Phil M shot this down on TGP last week (page 68 of the Helix 3 thread). See here: https://www.thegearpage.net/board/index.php?threads/helix-3-0.2113833/page-68 Uploading a bit of software (Firmware 3.0) doesn't require a major overhaul of the servers. How/why does it indicate anything other than routine maintenance. Also over on TGP, someone mentioned Winter NAMM and Eric said they should be working on v3.1 by then - oh, yeah, he also mentioned some new products. Quote: "There's no meatspace Winter NAMM next year, but we have other stuff to announce in January. Given that we may have a 3.01 (and perhaps 3.02) to tighten up everything, a 3.10 announcement at virtual NAMM is... ambitious, especially given the other boxes we have to finish. We have a good idea of what's gonna be in 3.10 tho'—mostly stuff we didn't have time to squeeze into 3.0." Discuss.
  9. Re: Stereo Width - it may not be exactly what you’re looking for - I posted this in a recent thread about this very subject: Copied from other thread, It is actually described as, Stereo Width Stereo Line 6 Original (utility to collapse stereo paths) Quote from Digital Igloo about this: ”It should probably be stressed that it doesn't spread a stereo signal past 100%; it only collapses already stereo signals by a certain percentage.” Hope this helps/makes sense.
  10. This could be what you need - take a look at forum user Malhavok’s (Ben Vesco) listing of DSP allocation in Helix. TLDR - but it does list KOT, POT, etc. It should all be in there. https://benvesco.com/store/helix-dsp-allocations/ Hope this helps/makes sense
  11. Hi again Glenn, I think that what’s out there are reviews by genuine people who are very happy with what they have bought into, and they actually think they are giving an “honest review”. If you disagree with the opinion of those reviewers, then may be you should do one of your own. Everyone is entitled to an opinion. If you’re not happy you could do a YouTube video to show how bad it is. That would be interesting to watch and see how many “thumbs up” it got. I hope you find something that works for you without having to drag around all that “heavy iron”.
  12. Rumour has it that it will be a dolphin friendly tuna! ;-)
  13. But maybe not, although I just happened to notice that you decided to resurrect a dead thread from 5 years ago. If you’re lucky no-one else will notice that you have thrown the towel in. It’s not an airport - there is no need to announce your departure. I would just like to point out that lots of people find it difficult to get to grips with digital after coming from a tube amp “feel the trouser flapping noise”. Eventually they realise that this is a whole new game, what you have coming out of this magic black box is the equivalent of a fully produced sound. It’s the sort of tone you would get while sitting in the control room of a well equipped studio. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  14. The basic frequency range for an in-tune guitar would be between around 80Hz to 1200Hz, then there are harmonics and distortion which can push it way beyond that. It’s these higher frequencies that some Helix and other digital modelling users refer to as “fizz” and apply high cut to remove it. This fizz is really annoying, not just for guitar players, but dogs, bats and many dolphins and whales, who might happen to be nearby. There is some insight in this short article: http://recordingology.com/in-the-studio/guitars/ Hope this helps/makes sense. ;-)
  15. Hi, Have you tried applying the “Scale” option to the timing? Although, an accurate read out of 100ths would be a good addition to the time slicing.
  16. Vanilla, I just knew that you were from another planet! Don’t you go where those huskies go, and while you’re there give my regards to Mick 7.
  17. Hi, once more, vanilla, I am intrigued and confused by your comment about using a Ping Pong Delay? Yes, the discussion is about stereo width and a Ping Pong delay is by it’s very nature - stereo - but then you mention mono delay? I’m confused. Mono, stereo - It’s not similar I'm thinking. You quote an effect time of 0.01, but 0.01 of what? AFAIK, nothing in the Helix family can produce a dialled in figure that goes into decimal hundreds of a division. Tenths - yes, but I would be interested to hear how you can accurately display a figure for an effect time such as 0.21 on a Helix. Theoretically you can achieve a approximate/similar effect time by using the Scale option. Please tell us how you can manage to do this, if you've got the time. Time haha. You really are weird!
  18. Hi again, I have an Helix floor model and the PRESET UP DOWN foot switch LED ring lights don't illuminate either. They do light up when I switch their function in the Global settings to10 switches. It's a feature of the design, just like the the MODE and TAP/TUNER don't light up during general use. They don't light up when simply used for going up/down swapping between presets, banks or snapshots, but I really don't understand why it's a problem. I know that the UP switch is on the top row and the DOWN switch is on the bottom row, unless I use the swap function in the Global settings, then the opposite applies. Easy! Hope this helps/makes sense.
  19. Hi, Posting to a 3 year thread is not really going to elicit a different answer to the one given by “phil_m” in October 2017.
  20. Hi, Do this almost every day using Logic Pro X and my Helix floor, and really the only thing different for you is recording the dry audio signal using USB channel 5, whereas I capture the dry signal on USB channel 7. The basics of the set up you need is described on the HX Stomp Owner’s Manual on page 45. Essentially, what you need to do is create a blank Logic session, with a stereo audio in from input 1 & 2 and a second empty audio track set for mono signal on input 5. Both of these tracks should be set to output on channels 1&2. MAKE SURE THAT YOU SOFTWARE MONITORING IS SWITCHED OFF IN LOGIC. It is that small icon on the channel strip that shows as a letter “I” in a square button, and it is coloured orange when active. Make sure it is grey/off. Now arm both tracks ready to record and strum a chord on your guitar into the HX Stomp, and you should see the VU meters moving, plus hear your guitar. If that is working O.K., then simply hit record and lay down your track. When you stop and rewind, the track set for 1&2 should have recorded the fully effected signal from your Stomp. Mute the processed audio track. The mono track from channel 5 should have your unprocessed clean guitar signal. From that point you can use whatever plugins you want on the dry track, which will playback through you Stomp, provided you monitors/headphones are connected. Re-amping through your Stomp requires another action which is also fully documented in the manual. Hope this helps/makes sense. LATE EDIT: This may seem obvious, but have you set Logic to use your HX Stomp for the audio interface? If not see this link https://support.apple.com/en-gb/guide/logicpro/lgcpebe7fb26/mac Second Edit:- Unzip and load this template into Logic and ensure that your Stomp is selected as Audio Device for in and out - that's it! HX Stomp Template.zip
  21. Huh? I didn’t see any mention of a power cab, although the audio signal in Ableton could be too hot.
  22. Hi again, I think you need to follow my instructions to get you through the update to v2.92 O.K. Buckle up, we’re going in. First go to the "DOWNLOADS" menu at the top of this page and from "-ALL HARDWARE-" select HELIX, then go to the "-ALL SOFTWARE-" menu item and select HX EDIT, now select your Mac OSX from under the "-ALL OS-" tab. Now click “GO”. From the next page you can select HX Edit 2.92 for your HELIX. IMPORTANT! Carefully read and follow the update instructions below. If you don't—and then run to the forums asking why it's not working—the interwebs will make fun of you. If you have read the notes, you will have seen that it say you need to download HX Edit 2.90 first. That might just be a typo and really should read 2.92. If you do need it, you can find it by scrolling down the page where you already are. Use this is for backing up anything on your Helix that you may want later after the update. You might wish to not do this as it is a preowned unit and you might wish to start from scratch with a clean machine. Then continue as the instructions in the 2.92 notes. HX Edit 2.92 should now take care of the installation of the latest firmware. Hope this helps make sense
  23. Hi, As you're using a Mac, please make sure that the version number of HX Edit that you have opened is the same version number as the Firmware in your Helix. Its is not unknown to have accidentally opened an alias to an early version that maybe still on your computer. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  24. Hi, I think you have misunderstood how HX Native functions. It works as a VST or Audio Units plug in and is entirely powered by your computer and you can use as many instances of HXN as your computer can handle. For example, I often have 7 or 8 instances of Native running simultaneously in Logic Pro X on my iMac with 32GB of RAM along with Arturia Vintage Synth collection and UVI Orchestral Suite. It’s not just for guitars and bass. Your LT is only there to get your dry guitar signal into your DAW, after that you can disconnect it, it’s not part of Native. Native is the software engine that powers the Helix family of hardware products, which contain either one or two DSP chips that only do one job. Your computer, depending on how much memory is available, can do lots of different things - all at the same time. Nothing is drawing any power from your computer other than it would running any other plugin in a DAW. Essentially, with Native, you are putting the “brain” of your LT into your computer and giving it a turbo charge. Hope this helps/makes sense.
