Hi, As I already own a registered copy of HX Native, I am unable to check what you are experiencing. The only thing that immediately springs to mind is, that with the release of the new firmware v.3.00, the Line 6 servers may be under considerable stress rather than a Denial of Service bot attack. It might be advisable to raise a ticket with Customer Support to make them aware of this. Hope this helps/makes sense

Hi, That’s normal procedure to bring all the presets in line with the latest format. On the hardware units this is very noticeable when restarting after a firmware update. I don’t think is so obvious within Helix Native, but with hardware you see this occurs every time you add an older preset of your own, or any downloaded from Customtone, and even paid for presets, as they may have been created in earlier versions of the firmware. I can’t say that I particularly noticed this happening in earlier versions of HXN, but it is pretty swift and this new version 3.0 has some major revisions to the things inside it. As you mention, HXN seem to generally function as expected on a Mac. I have had it running in Logic since the first release and not come across the issues that seem to be reported by Cubase users. Difficult to figure some of these problems with other programmes, there doesn’t appear to be anything obvious. This is a fairly quiet forum, with not that many contributor, which is why I recommend people submit a ticket with Customer Support to make them aware of the issues. Stay safe.

Hi Bobby, Probably a corrupt IR or Preset. Check this out. Or this, https://line6.com/support/topic/55238-hx-stomp-cant-change-sound-after-update-to-290/?tab=comments#comment-331276 more options here, but this might do it. Maybe this, Hope this helps/makes sense

Yes there is! I’m going to guess that you used Firefox for the download from Line 6, and when it landed on your computer you decided to let Firefox open the .dmg installer? No, download HX Edit 3 and save the file to your hard drive then open it from there. If you downloaded the .dmg using Safari, then try flushing the cache from Safari and download again. Hope this helps/makes sense and if not please report back.

Hi, As “phil_m” mentioned in the post above, those effects have not changed in this update. Also, did you reset your “Globals” from the backup which you made before the update? If not, it may be worth doing, because something might have got messed up slightly after/during updating.

Expanding DSP on Helix Floor 3.0: HX Stomp or Hx Effects
datacommando replied to StaccoP2P's topic in Helix
Not for me. Looks like “rd2rk” has it all covered - I agree. -
Hello Herman, To save me from having to type all the information once more, may I suggest that you try the reset options that I posted earlier in a similar thread here: Hope this helps/makes sense.
-
Hi, First thing, have you reset the Globals from the backup you made prior to updating the firmware to v.3.00? If not launch HX Edit and select restore from backup from the file list, you can then choose to reset only the Globals. This will restore your global settings to what they were in the firmware you were running prior to updating your Helix. Hope this helps/makes sense.

Hi ezut, It is not a problem if you all your places are full. You can save them all in different ways, first you can save the whole contents as a bundle, secondly you can save each setlist individually, or finally, you can export each preset one at a time. I will suggest that you simply save one of your Setlist to you computer. Next import the Factory 1 setlist, from the link I gave earlier, to replace the setlist you saved. You will find the Artist Presets are the ones with the names in ALL CAPS in the Factory 1 list. If there is a preset in the Artlists presets that you want to keep, just export that as a single preset which you can load to whichever place you want it to be. If you don’t like any of them or don’t want keep any of them - overwrite them with your setlist that you saved earlier. Once you fill all the places in HX Edit you can save, swap, duplicate, change and remove or replace as many as you wish, whenever you wish by saving them to you computer. It can never really be full. Hope this helps/makes sense. If you are unsure about importing setlists see here from 3:35

Hi, When you update the firmware, your Helix goes through the “Rebuilding Presets” routine in order to bring your presets in to line with the latest format. It’s not unknown for this procedure to get stuck at some point as one of the presets may have accidentally become corrupt during the update. I suggest that you turn the power off to your Helix and then restart it while holding down FS10 & FS11 and this should recommence the Rebuilding Presets process and should hopefully get you past 270. If this does not fix the problem, you can try one of the other Reset Options In the list below. Caution: some of these options will wipe your presets from the units memory and you will need to read load them from your back up which you made before updating the firmware. You did make a back up, didn’t you? Hope this helps/makes sense. Reset Options Helix Floor/LT Button Combination Description 2 LED light Fun 3 & 4 Test Mode 5 & 6 Global reset 7 & 8 Reset setlists to factory, Keep IRs 8 & 9 Reset setlists to factory, Clear IRs 9 & 10 Reset setlists to factory, Global reset, Clear IRs 10 & 11 Upgrades existing presets to latest format 11 & 12 Clear current preset 5 & 12 Clear setlists, clear IRs, Return system settings to default 6 & 12 Safe boot mode To use Reset Options: Power off the Helix Hold the desired button combination Power on the Helix Release the button combination Please note: Buttons are numbered from top left to bottom right.

Hi, First thing to do is, from within HX Edit, open the backup which you made prior to updating to v.3.0, and choose the option to reset your Globals back to what they were before installing the update. Installing new new firmware resets to factory default and possibly has screwed up you Snapshot setting. Hope this helps/makes sense.

The first step for updating is downloading and installing HX Edit 3.0
datacommando replied to phil_m's topic in Helix
This is definitely NOT ADVISABLE! Version 3.00 of the firmware contains certain blocks that cannot be accessed by earlier versions of HX Edit. You could make edits to you presets on your hardware unit but they will not be available in HX Edit for backup, etc. The installation notes specifically state that any presets created with v.3.0 firmware are not compatible with any previous versions. Best thing to do Is to remove all earlier HX Edit copies on you computer then download and re-install HX Edit 3.0. When installing ensure that you select all the available options for installing the latest drivers required to connect your computer to your Helix. Then restart your computer and then turn the power on to your Helix and reconnect via USB then you should be good to go. Hope this helps/makes sense -
My guess is that Line 6 don’t administer these pages themselves. it’s hosted by https://invisioncommunity.com Helix Native forum still has a sticky post, from DI, for the release notes of v.1.50 Native back in January 2018. No housekeeping in here.

Constantly! It started after the forum “changed” way back in 2018 Annoying!

It appears fairly obvious to me that English is not your first language, and therefore some of your concept may be a little too complex to get across clearly. I am not trying to be offensive, your English is better than anything I could do in another language. Possibly I don’t have a full understanding of your idea which seems to be very important to you. Although, having said that, I find it odd that you would mention other high end modellers that have the tools you are talking about”. If that is the case why do you choose a piece of equipment that does not feature those things you feel are so important? All I can say is that I hope you can understand when I say “you are trying to re-invent the wheel”. Stay safe out there.

Huh? No! Not logical, that is the same disc image file that I used to install HX Edit 3.00. Something is totally screwed up there. EDIT: Just looked at your screen grabs from today when you got the download from Line 6 - You are using Firefox for the downloads. Maybe that is the culprit, try flushing the caches from Firefox or use another browser to download and check what happens. Don’t do “Open With” use “Save File” and then open that.

Well, that maybe because you arrived with a post about “our lovely Helix products” that is actually a 5 paragraph critique of what is missing from something that both “cruisinon2” and I have been using for the last five years. It appears that we both have simply pointed out things that we didn’t agree with, which was most of your ideas. What did you expect to happen? This is not Line 6 fan boy nonsense, we use this stuff on a daily basis and are aware of the good points of the Helix and it’s short comings. Using Helix as a recording tool allows me to capture decent guitar tone at a good level without the fuss of isolation and microphones. All that other stuff like tape saturation and esoteric reverbs, and even vinyl crackle and pop can be added then, if I wanted them. People using Helix products in a live context will have a different set of things that they like. So if they want to patch in a third party item such as Ditto x4 looper, a Strymon Big Sky, or an Eventide H9 they simply plug it into the FX Loop. That’s the way it is. As you have already said: “There are some things that work in a particular way and you can't change it.” I wish you well in your search for the audio nirvana you seek - try hooking up a Helix to Logic and some plug-ins.
-
i'm going to take a similar view as "cruisinon2" here. Perhaps I'm missing something, but what you're essentially asking for, is what many Helix users will already have - a computer with a DAW of one flavour or another from GarageBand through ProTools etc. Why would anyone want to try and cram all that nonsense into what is essentially a purpose built guitar processor. You mention tape saturation, esoteric reverbs etc, Most of that stuff is available as AU or VST plug-ins for the recording device of you choice, some of them are free. It's already out there. When you mention people putting Tube Mic Pre, Minotaur between amps and cabs, and optical trems at the end of signal chains. Well I guess they do that because, in the digital domain, they can do that without blowing up anything important. It's called experimentation. Then this: "We can grab same exact guitar, use same exact cables, amps, cab, mic (all in Helix), playing style, but we never get that sound without ambience that was recorded in that room and analogue gear used to mix this song." Yes, and unless you are the guitarist that played it, then it will still sound like you - this has also been discussed at great length in and among the 7k posts you seem to have researched to find "something that's not there." What missing is the "Incredible Talent Button". Sorry, "TheRainEnsemble" - but this concept is a complete non starter.
-
Yep, that was basically what I was getting at. If he was only going for a 'swell effect' from the EPX pedals assign them to control the Mix and Feedback simultaneously. Now it makes more sense. Phew! Now it makes more sense. If only I had known how you were using the line mixer. You now have 3 votes on IdeaScale.

They do not need to be placed on CustomTone- they are available here, just go and get them. Hope this helps/makes sense.
-
Oooh! Sorry young man. I just felt the uncontrollable urge to be as ridiculous as you. Stay safe and well.
-
Doh! No problem - on it now! DONE Sorry about that.
-
Hi again, I’m still a little bit confused by this. The Send/Return blocks have level controls for in and out and the FX Loop also has a mix control. If you have both your external expression pedals connected to the Stomp EXP 1/2 Socket then each pedal can be set to control wherever parameters you wish on the delay and reverb blocks. Maybe I have completely misunderstood your set up, but I don’t know why you need 2 volume blocks for this, or why the delay and reverb blocks need level control. Hope this makes sense to you.

Thor - is that copyright Marvel? Crowley - is that copyright Aleister (Edward Alexander) Crowley the Great Beast 666 Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the law. “I cannot imagine something more frustrating more arrogant more insane and pretentious than the Human species.” Can we quote you on that, or is it borrowed from someone else? H O G D. It’s a kinda magick.
