  1. That happens to me when some drunk steps on my power cord or its extension cord. Seriously, it sounds like your power cord's connection might be loose?

    Tuner

Line 6 certainly demonstrated the difference between "accuracy" and "granularity". I consider my guitar "in tune" when the yellow bar passes the middle more than once or twice. ;) Or, when my bass player stops complaining.
  3. So, before 2.0, you had to change presets to change Variax models? If so, Snapshots are a sea change for Variax people. Like me - I just got one.
  4. That worked for me too! Thanks for the tip.
  5. I've been having success with "Loopy" on my ipad. And you can control it from the Helix's footswitches. I have a great external looper (Digitech JamMan) but I'm too lazy to hook it up to the Helix, contrary to my advice above. I just use the internal looper most of the time.
  6. For that money, I'd buy a dedicated looper.
  7. I'm on a Mac and I use a USB 3.0 hub to breach the distance. When I do firmware upgrades though, I connect directly to the back of the Mac. Out of nervousness, I guess.
  8. Very informative. Scott's a great resource for all of us.
  9. I saw that too and it really confused me (old guy). So I re-read all the instructions and went with the majority vote: 9 & 10. The update makes the Helix a whole new machine. Magical!
  10. Hello. What is the difference between an IR from Ownhammer or 3Sigma and the "built-in" cab sims on the Helix? Were the Helix cab sims captured using a technique other than impulse response? If so, why? People seem to prefer external IR's to the built-in cabs. Thanks.
  11. Thank you so much, friends. That is so cool!!!
  12. I'm way too dense to figure out how to: -Save snapshot 1 with Variax tuned to "Drop-D" and -Save snapshot 2 with Variax tuned to "DADGAD" (within the same preset). Please help. I have tried everything except the correct thing. Thank you.
  13. Good advice that goes far beyond the musical realm.
  14. Good luck. I live 90 miles from NYC and all I could find in stock anywhere were a handful of Standards. I bought mine from Sweetwater - they're great.
  15. Yes, you can change the model on your guitar and it will change on the Helix. You can save that new model selection in your patch. As you turn the model knob on your guitar, the display changes on the Helix. Cool. It doesn't appear that you can change the tuning on the guitar, then save it on the Helix. I tried it several ways with no success - maybe somebody else knows how to do it. But it works fine in the other direction: setting up a tuning on the Helix, then saving it to a patch.
  16. Oh, yes! It's easy. In your patch... There are 3 pages to the "input" block (assuming you have Variax as one of the inputs; Variax is included in the "Multi" setting). Go to the 2nd page. There, you can set the Variax model (e.g., acoustic-2, reso-4), the desired positions of the volume and tone knobs and whatever tuning you'd like to use. There's other stuff to play with there too. Save it and you can recall any and all Variax settings whenever you want. IMPORTANT: You must use the VDI cable so that your Helix can communicate with your Variax. I guess that's obvious. P.S. You can also use the Variax's volume and/or tone as a controller for the Helix!
  17. Ok, thanks. I just got a JTV-69; I've had the Helix for 6 months.
  18. You must have something plugged into the 1/4" jack on your Variax - in addition to the VDI and USB adapter - or you will not be able to access Workbench. Why? Because.
  19. Here's my 3 cents: 1. Please do not p*ss off Digital Igloo. 2. I play through my Helix for hours a day, with a huge grin. 3. I check this forum every day, hoping for a firmware update. Thanks for listening.

    AutoWha?

    Excellent!!!
  21. I solved my flimsy battery door problem with judicious application of a rubber band. Admittedly, it was a high-quality rubber band. Nevertheless, I ordered a G10 from Sweetwater yesterday. Maybe I can use the rubber band for something else.
  22. If only you were the first person to call me that today... Yes, the looper is the only MODE without programmable buttons. What a waste. And since I never make mistakes (Jerk!), I only ever use two buttons on the looper anyway. Actually, I never figured out what the UNDO button does, despite its glaringly obvious label.
  23. Well...not to be a jerk...but that's not exactly true either. The "Mode" button scribble strip doesn't change. It's often the button next to it that says "Looper" in the factory presets but that's totally up to you. But either you or someone else has to "manually" assign a button (footswitch) to the Looper in order that it will show up as one of the stomp switches. This would be irrelevant except that Amsdenj's post sent me scurrying to the manual, and then to the Helix to see if I could get to the Looper directly from the "Mode" footswitch. You can't. It would be a great idea if, as Amsdenj says, you could.
