  1. I'd suggest turning the hum up and the ripple off. You definitely want '10' on presence.
  2. What color's the poodle? How much does it weigh? Is it all original? Does it bite; does it chew it?
  3. The editor sometimes fools you into thinking you're on one patch when you're actually on another (yes, English is my first language). Try double-clicking on the desired patch on the left hand panel. Make sure it shows up in the main window. I'll bet you a dollar that was your problem - happens to me all the time.
  4. You forgot the guitar player: Dickey Betts.
  5. Vincent Van Gogh's or J. Paul Getty III's. They're available. Or the cop in "Reservoir Dogs".
  6. Four people in this thread alone (including me) don't belong to Facebook. Extrapolating that to the entire population, according to my maths, almost no one belongs to FB. It's just you, your mother, your ex-drummer and your ex-girlfriend. And a bunch of Helix groups.
  7. "...right now I need a Telecaster through a Vibrolux turned up to ten..."
  8. I don't see that your age and your "numbers" automatically qualify you as an asshat. We can't go handing out that title (and the ceremonial hat) to just anyone who claims it, can we?
  9. I do play gigs for free. And I pay money for CDs (mp3s) of musicians I like, even though I subscribe to Spotify. They deserve the money. And I pay for several on-line newspapers. And I've bought several of Glenn's packages. I don't use them (except for the Dumble IR) but I want Glenn to keep doing what he's doing, just like I want the above-mentioned musicians to keep doing what they're doing. Where I live, the loudest way to show my appreciation is to send money.
  10. As the OP, I feel compelled to mention that this thread is coming up on its first birthday. I no longer have any problem with USB/Helix/Mac. Parenthetically, I've also had the Helix for a year and have never played so long and so satisfactorily through a guitar toy. Usually I'm sick of them in 3 months.
  11. That's not obvious at all. I've never heard of that fix. Thanks.

    Future of Helix

I have an M5 attached to a Helix send/return solely for its auto-volume. If auto-volume were to magically appear in an update, the Helix delays would be even more "lovely", for me anyway.

    Future of Helix

It's hard to believe that any firmware upgrade will change the very nature of the Helix. Firmware upgrades, so far, have been incremental improvements, rather than creating a new machine. It usually takes more than an afternoon in a store to find some sounds that you like. You have to twirl knobs and click on things, not that that isn't a ton of fun in itself. If you liked the sounds that the people demonstrating were getting, you can probably get those sounds too (although I've been playing for almost 50 years and the people demonstrating the Helix on youtube always make it sound better than I can). As far as a hardware upgrade, I'm tied for 'the last person to know' with everyone else.
  14. Congratulations to DI and Mrs. Igloo. DI (if you can read this from Fiji), your presence makes this board a delightful place. Thank you.
  15. Oh, please, please, autovolume. I bought an M5, an M13 and several of the DL4's (they keep breaking!) solely for that beautiful autovolume. Come on. I know you know how to do it. Yes, I can still do the send/return thing with my M5 (which works swimmingly, by the way). But it's extra cables and weight. Are you reading this, Santa Claus?
  16. Alas, I think BB took his tone with him.
  17. One footstomp too many, but thanks. The solution above in the attached preset is to assign a stomp switch to the A/B split, having one distortion block in path A and the other in B. Next, I assign both distortion blocks to another stomp switch. Very cool. I heart Helix.
  18. The Stumbling Block is one of my favorite effects. I have one in each of my patches and almost never bypass it.
  19. That works perfectly! Thank you Duncann. Incidentally, I spent about an hour searching through the forum and re-reading the manual but I couldn't find the answer. Same with youtube. They always say "RTFM" but, in this case, that didn't help.
  20. I wanna play too: Joni Mitchell Robbie Robertson Garth Hudson Richard Manuel (RIP) Rick Danko (RIP) Diana Krall Thanks for listening.
  21. Thanks Duncann. Snapshots would be simple but I'd have to surrender 4 of the footswitches to use stomp/snapshot mode. I can't do that on this particular patch. I'll check out the patch you posted when I get to my Helix.
  22. Ok, I just can't figure this out. Please help. I don't want to use snapshots on this particular preset. I have too many effects assigned to those 10 footswitches. I have two distortion blocks. I want one to turn off when I turn the other on. Sometimes I want them both off. I never want them both on. (I often accidentally turn them both on and it's awful). How might I do this without snapshots? Thanks!!

    WOW!

Auto-volume is my favorite Line 6 effect. I have an M13, M5 and (several) DL4. On each, the auto-volume is magical. If I were head of Line 6 marketing, I would not add it to the Helix because it would cut into sales of the other pedals that have auto-volume. I hope the head of Line 6 marketing is not as Machiavellian as I am. So, yeah, auto-volume! Make the Helix perfect-er.

    Tuner

If it rings, it's a harmonic. If not, you missed. The fret is only an approximate visual guide.
  25. A picture's worth a thousand words. A video's worth even more. I found this video helpful. Not that Line 6's instructions were unclear but the video gave me more confidence: If Line 6 made how-to-install videos available, that might alleviate some confusion, particularly for non-English speakers.
