  1. This is the ACTIVE Ideascale post: https://line6.ideascale.com/a/dtd/Powercab-Signal-LED-Level-indicator-to-show-up-in-PowerCab-Edit/1009166-23508
  2. it's on Ideascale https://line6.ideascale.com/a/dtd/Powercab-Signal-LED-Level-indicator-to-show-up-in-PowerCab-Edit/1009166-23508
  3. I know how Ideascale works. I searched there before posting here. I'm just asking if any of the IT PC forum people here think it is doable from what they know about L6 coding. Many here have opinions based on such knowledge. If the idea gathers any momentum here, I'll post over there. If it would be too much trouble for Line6 and nobody cares here - fug it. That's all. rd2rk - you're a very helpful forum member here, so, glad you would vote for it.
  4. In my opinion it would be a good thing to have the Powercab Level indicator show up in PowerCab Edit. This would be very helpful (at least to me) when dialing in a preset to see the GREEN and YELLOW colored LED and see if and when it clips into RED from my listening distance (computer to amp placement in the room). Another good thing about this would be, to be able to see the difference between the GREEN to YELLOW signal LEDs. I don't know about you, but on the amp, I have trouble discerning the difference between the GREEN and YELLOW LED (BTW - I am not color blind). Is this doable or is it like the reason L6 can't get a read out code for the tuner written for HX Edit? As I recall the old POD EDIT program (not Gearbox) had a tuner in the GUI - it was doable then. I put it on Ideascale https://line6.ideascale.com/a/dtd/Powercab-Signal-LED-Level-indicator-to-show-up-in-PowerCab-Edit/1009166-23508
  5. Hello amsdenj - Yes I did see your response in the Helix forum and I'm sorry I didn't reply and thank you for your wisdom. You have been one of the great Line 6 forum helpers for years and I always find your knowledge of the products helpful to me and others. I guess what it boils down to is that somehow I totally misunderstood how the PC+ speakers related to the Helix. "Think of Powercab as a powered guitar speaker in a 1x12 or 2x12 closed back, ported cabinet that has a few additional features: you can easily swap the speaker, can use it as a FRFR if you need that for acoustic, vocal or keyboard instruments, and can run IRs if you need that." I was aware of that before buying. Somehow I assumed there was a closer match between the two products - cabs/speakers. All in all I am very happy with the amp in the room tone/feeling that the PC gives me and that's the reason I bought it. Thanks for the input.

    poly sustain

The Sustainer will sustain each note or chord as you play. It will give infinite sustain and/or feedback using sparkly clean or loud distorted settings without the need for excessive volume or extra outboard gear. Stop the note, no sustain. Clean or distorted each sounds great. The Sustainer will also hold each note into feedback, feedback at low volume (if desired) BTW. 2 modes of feedback: the root note or a 5th above the root note played and the Sustainer 401 model gives the option of a "mix" mode, that blends the two modes at the same time, and an intensity control knob. Poly Sustain is more like a looper pedal with no feedback.
  7. Thanks everybody for answers so far. I guess I should chock it up my lack of knowledge about amps, even though I've been using them for 54 years. I just never messed with any of the amp speakers I had unless I blew one. The last almost 20 years I've been relying on Line 6 and Boss modeling units to play through. So, It looks like as I understand it, there are a few typical speaker matches for particular amp models in the Helix/real world but the others are custom replacements and it's down to what I think sounds best to me when running a Helix amp to a PC+ speaker. I guess it is my misunderstanding that Line 6 was offering some of the same speaker models in the PC+ that they modeled and default matched with amps in the Helix. Thanks again for your comments so far and thanks in advance to any future replies.

  9. I asked this on the Helix forum but maybe not the right place. I just got my Powercab 112 Plus a month ago. Totally digging it! I'm trying to choose the appropriate PC+ speaker models to match my HelixLT default cab sims. Which speaker models in the Powercab+ match up to Helix cab sims? By default Helix links US Double Nrm amp version with 212 Double C12N, Brit J45 Nrm with 412 Greenback 20, MatchstickCh2 with 212 G25, Jazz Rivet with 212 Jazz Rivet, etc. Which Helix cab sims match the 12 PC+ speaker models? Based on the PC+ manual, I think that some are obvious: Jetson and Jarvis go with Fenders, Essex goes with Vox Blue Bell, Lecto and Shade to Mesa, Green to Marshall match but the other non trademark Line6 PC+ speaker code names don't tell me a whole lot. What about the rest of them in the PC+ models? Not asking which match of speaker model to amp sound best (that's subjective and I know that we can mix and match to our tastes) - but which are typically used together? I'm trying to find out which speakers closely match the Helix's default amp and cab matches to give me an idea of what speaker, for lack of better terms, usually pairs with a type or class of amps in the real world. Does the Mesa/Boogie Black Shadow C90 pair with the Dual Rectifier or the Mark IV based on the Helix default pairing? What amp typically pairs with the BAYOU (Eminence Patriot Series Swamp Thang)? In the analog world would the DINO be put in a Deluxe Reverb. Would Reinhold Bogner use a HERALD with a Shiva?
  10. Thanks for the reply waymda. I have that same list in the POWERCAB FAMILY PILOT’S GUIDE. I'm trying to find out which speakers closely match the Helix's default amp and cab matches to give me an idea of what speaker, for lack of better terms, usually pairs with a type or class of amps in the real world. In the analog world would the DINO be put in a Deluxe Reverb. Would Reinhold Bogner use a HERALD with a Shiva? Does that make more sense in what I'm asking about Helix amp/cab - Powercab+ pairings? Like I said in the OP, I'm not asking which sounds best. I realize after years of using modeling gear that there are no hard and fast rules. I may very well just use what sounds good to me not to mention there are way more cab models in the Helix than there are speaker sims in the Powercab+ (unless Line 6 models 40 plus speakers in various updates).
  11. I just got my Powercab 112 Plus a month ago. Totally digging it! I haven't seen a thread on LINE6 Helix, Powercab forums or over on TGP to answer my question. Got a Princeton Reverb for Christmas in '67 and had nothing but SS amps after that and been using Line 6 stuff since the POD XT Live with all the next latest and greatest units. In other words - I'm ignorant of this stuff. 12. I would suggest that you post this question in the James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD forum here. Try to get psarkissian (the Line 6 head Variax Tech) who is always fielding questions from his work bench to answer your question. Probably many forum members here that can answer your question but this cat knows Variax inside out.
  13. Jason Sadites has a "Dumbl'ish" Preset at Line 6 Marketplace. "Includes one single preset based around the Litigator amp model in the Helix and HX Stomp to get us close to the famous D-Style amp. The preset contains 4 snapshots including Clean, Push, OD & Lead for the Helix and 3 snapshots (Clean, Push, OD) for the HX Stomp. Dialed in and ready to go for all your live or studio needs". Works with: Helix Floor, Helix LT, Helix Rack, Helix Native, HX Stomp Price: $3.99 Here is a link to his YT video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GB2i8n2Nxy4 I can't speak for the preset's "Dumbl'ishness" but Jason is a crafty preset creator with the Helix IMHO.
  14. CLEAN! Thanks for all the hard work on our behalf. My 2¢: Light on dark is better for my eyes.
  15. Welcome to the Helix club. LT owner here. I found a great deal of help from Helix tutorial videos from Jason Sadites: https://line6.com/support/page/kb/effects-controllers/helix/helix-tutorials-by-jason-sadites-r891/ Jason Saddites YouTube Channel https://www.youtube.com/c/JasonSadites Line 6 Community Knowledge Base: https://line6.com/support/page/kb/effects-controllers/helix/ Helix Help https://helixhelp.com/ TheGearPage forum https://www.thegearpage.net/board/index.php?search/81078409/&q=Helix&o=date Ben Vesco YT channel https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=Ben+Vesco and http://www.benvesco.com/blog/ other Helix pros can add to this list, there's a ton of help out there. I haven't got a Powercab Plus yet, I know the basics but since I don't have practical knowledge yet others who have had their PCs for awhile can answer the pros of connecting the LT and PC with a Line6 cable can explain it better than me. Here's a start for you. watch out for Delia.
  16. Thanks for your perspective tooloudtoobad. As only a studio player these days, I guess for a $300 savings I could get off my butt and switch the PC to one of the only six speaker types if I want a change. Seems like a PLUS is the key to take full advantage of all the Helix's capabilities.
  17. Can anyone of you good people share your experience with regretting not buying the PC+ instead of the plain PC? I have read all the specs and definitely know the differences between the 2 model's abilities on paper. But are there any real life anecdotal experiences of regret not buying the PC+. I am using a Headrush108 now but I want to experience the amp in the room feeling. I'm not sure if I can live without the extra speaker sims and L6link/midi, extra speakers and update capabilities of a PC+. With a plain PC I can experience what I get with the Headrush but will also get the amp in the room from speaker sims and that's all I really need. My HelixLT should give me plenty of control of the parameters. I am not using it live or plan to at this point in time. Will I really regret not spending the extra $300 on the plus - (of course no one can really answer that question for ME, I am just looking for advice based on your personal experience if you felt the need to upgrade to the PLUS and why. Or, was it a no brainer and you just knew the PC+ was where it's at from the start)? Thanks in advance, Hey_Joe
  18. Thanks again. I'll just follow all the 2.82 directions and prompts and once I have the software installed on my machine, I'll see what the Updater wants to me to do even though the unit is supposed to ship with current FW from Sweetwater.
  19. This is my first Helix and I don't have any of the software in my computer yet. I have to get my first version of HX Edit into the machine along with drivers for Windows.
  20. Wow...2.82. DI's post wasn't there an hour ago. Line 6 is on top of things as always.
  21. Hey all - Just trying to get my ducks in a row here. I have a Helix LT set to deliver tomorrow from Sweetwater. It will be delivered with the latest firmware (2.8.1) installed by their techs. I do not find the INSTRUCTIONS to focus on an already up to date Helix. I just want to clarify my path to installing the Helix platform onto my PC. Since the current FW is already installed I presume all I need to do is DL HX Edit and follow the prompts. The "UPDATE INSTRUCTIONS" tell me to run the Updater after the Edit package is installed. Just curious if the Updater will skip updating if the platform is current as it will recognize the unit and the PC are up to date. Can I skip the updater and quit the process outlined in the UPDATE INSTRUCTIONS thread, since I am not updating the hardware at this point? Why ask for trouble and re-flash if it's not needed? I do not want to assume anything. Glad to finally advance into the world of the Helix after reading the forum and excessively craving it since it's launch. Been with Line 6 since my XT Live, X3 Live, HD500, Spiders and 300, 600, JTV69, JTV59 Variaxes...so, it's high time to have a Helix. Next step - Powercab Plus. Thanks in advance, Hey_Joe
  22. I would suggest that you check out the VGuitar Forum (all things Roland synth(s) with all kinds of Boss, Line 6, Digitech, etc. gear and how it may relate to Roland synths). Head over there if you are not aware of the site and if new - sign up, introduce yourself and ask some questions from GR aficionados http://www.vguitarforums.com/smf/index.php
  23. This might help... an interview with Ty Tabor with Premier Guitar, it's from Jan 25, 2011. a list of all his gear, plus... http://www.premierguitar.com/articles/Interview_Ty_Tabor_Kings_X?page=1 maybe some help?
