  1. I know that I can blend in WB and/or set up a patch to alternate between modeled and mags with an exp pedal or set up a dual tone with both on at the same time but these patches don't work like they should. I can create my own patch and have the mags work when selecting Variax Mags on the input but these patches don't have any mag audio. I try to mute the channel that has the modeling and get zero out of the mag side of the patches I mentioned above that are dual with mags and modeled. Anybody else find these patches not working correctly or know of a solution? No big deal - but just trying to determine if the new FW update screwed up or the patches are corrupt.
  2. I thought I remembered that was the way to do it. Been messing with the Variax set list and I wonder if there's some bugs in some of the presets. Here's some potential problems I've found on my JTV69, JTV59 and HD500 - (I doubt it's just my equipment) with the Variax set list: 1C Sitar - can't get any mag sound - it's set up the way you say from Line 6 3C Banjo - same... - no mags audio 11C Guild 12 String... - no mag audio 11A Du Hast... no JTV saved under VDI Input on HD500 Edit Mixer Page 15C Acoustic 5th - NO model saved under Model spot on Mixer Page can anyone else confirm same problems?
  3. IMHO the Variax Set List has some of the most usable factory tones in the unit. I only have 2 issues that bug me... 1) the volume seems very low on all presets in this set list compared to the other factory presets 2) most of the tones are in alt tunings. In all my years of playing I just never got around to learning to play out of standard tuning except for a few tunes in DADGAD. I figure if I like the tones and don't know how to play in those tunings I can just copy the set list and change all the tunings to standard and save that until I get some alt tuning ability under my belt. There are a couple of dual tones set up to play Variax modeled and mag pick ups. It's been so long since I read the advanced guide I forget how to get both playing at the same time. Can someone help me out and give me the answer as how have both Mags and modeled on at the same time? I was going to DL the newest advanced guide and model gallery but nothing new is posted yet before I start reading for the answer again..
  4. Yes - same here. I found a lot of hum when I turned down the drive very low but it goes away as far as I noticed so far, just had the Vintage Pack since yesterday afternoon and only messed around with new amps for a few hours. When I raise the drive level back up to about 15 the hum goes away.
  5. Thanks Zap question answered
  6. Hey fellow HDers, I am having trouble understanding this blurb on the License Manager. I had never installed it before because my add-ons were for the XT Live, which is long gone since the X3L came out. I own the HD500 so this is almost a moot point at this time but trying to get my ducks in a row for when the non-X version is released. I never bought Pod Farm in the past...does this really apply to me to activate the model packs when they are available for the 500? Do I have to purchase the Pod Farm 2.5 to get the new model packs activated? Can a Line 6 user or an expert give me the low down on this? Thanks!
  7. Hey_Joe

    I NEED HELP! :(

Did you calibrate the pedal? How to calibrate the POD HD500 Expression Pedal http://line6.com/support/page/kb/_/pod/pod-hd500-hd500x/pod-hd500xhd500-pedal-calibration-r161?st=0#comment_0 Just a thought because you are as most of us were at first overwhelmed by the manual's instructions.
  8. There are 22 patches on Customtone http://line6.com/customtone/search/podhd500/1/ for the HD500 for Hillsong and Nigel Hendroff. I don't have a HD500X, (have the older HD500) so not experienced with transferring 500X to 500 but I read that you can drag and drop the 500 tone to the 500X in Edit and save as 500X. Someone else with experience can chime in for specific 500 to 500X transfer procedure.
  9. Those guys will work out anything with you, whether you're buying a bag of picks or a $2000+ instrument. Anyway congratulations - sort of.
  10. clay-man - You've been wanting for this guitar for sooooo long. I've been following all your posts and know you wanted this black - maple neck- 69s for so long and now you finally got one and it's a bummer. I feel for ya man. Was really happy for you when you posted you FINALLY gathered the cash and ordered one and now it's got to go back. Dang! I had troubles with getting my first JTV also. I went to Sweetwater as I always do for gear and they had none and JTVs were still too new for good stock and Sweetwater didn't know when they would get stock on 69s - so, I tried a 89. I had to send back 3 of them for various electrical problems. My rep at Sweetwater was great about it and we gave up on getting an workable 89 and they refunded my account. When the JTVs first came out I wanted a 69 (first choice strat like with a trem) but couldn't find one anyplace except for Rainbow Guitars - just had to have the new gen Variax, GAS was so bad just had to have one. I got one and had to send it back to Line 6 five times for neck and nut issues but they finally got it together (psarkissian probably worked his magic on it) and I have had a good guitar since 2012. Recently bought a Dent and Scratch 59 gold top w/P90s from Sweetwater - bad VDI connector - last gold top, so, had to keep it instead of exchange it - shipped back and fixed with GREAT set up. They will make it right - hang in there - you'll get that "dream guitar".
  11. I bought an SKB-66PRO, SKB Pro Series Guitar Case - Stratocaster/Telecaster Fit from Sweetwater http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/1SKB-66PRO I saw the case mentioned in another older thread about 69 cases and called my Sweetwater rep and he had the JTV69 checked to make sure of fit. I was a little worried because it was good and snug but I had installed Dunlop Straploks on it which extends the length just a smidge but it went right in. Cost me $159.99.
  12. Sort of getting off topic but wanted to tell how Sweetwater came to my aid after getting my bucks. I bought my last JTV (their last gold top P90 59) and it was set up perfect for me but the VDI connector was bad on it. It was a Dent and Scratch, with none of either. I called my rep and he sent a pick up tag for it and shipped it back fixed - I would have exchanged but there were no more gold tops left. I had purchased a ESP/LTD 5 string bass from them earlier and the B string tuning machine was bad, just would not ever hit a tuned position. I had spent money on a pro set up on it. They shipped a new bass and credited my Sweetwater Card with the amount I paid for the set up which was impossible but nevertheless charged for by the tech after I sent a copy of my receipt via email to them.
  13. Just thought I'd through my 2¢ in here. For most Praise and Worship players the setting is in a church (usually a sanctuary) and the band plays and leads the singing of Christian rock/hymns that the congregation sings to the Lord during the Saturday night / Sunday morning services, specific holy holidays; Christmas, Thanksgiving, weeknight prayer meetings and teachings, etc. and we usually play other Christian recording artist's songs but it's not exclusive to non original songs - So, not exactly "basically the same setting as you will find most bands in when playing live for an audience then..." It can be a concert like any secular gig at any type of venue with any genre of "rock" or just in church during the service for worship. There are certain popular artists that charge big bucks for tickets at regular concert type auditoriums or free concerts at particular events by lesser known bands doing copy or original music - church, parks, halls, parking lots, you name it - fairly typically not bars. The mind set is not as people being performers but more as musicians and singers leading people in song -the focus is on who we are singing to not who is singing or playing and how cool they sound not that we are not well rehearsed and strive to play and and sound our best and also consider it as our mission or service to God and the congregation. Just a little more perspective for you to visualize. Not trying to be a wise guy or know it all or holier than thou by chiming in here.
  14. I see what you mean now. The English translator works well enough with the photos to give us a picture of what you did. Thanks for the reply.
  15. Out of curiosity, what do you mean by - You had to "strengthen" the contacts on the original battery?
  16. Didn't mean to insult your intelligence with my post, just tried to tell you the obvious in case you were a total novice with the vax which now I know you are not. I understand your hesitance to try the roll back again. It appears that the update/rollback process is TOO weird with the JTV, the updates require multiple attempts to get the update to take for many owners based on the numerous posts I've read here involving repeated attempts to get the software to change no matter how "perfect" the USB connection and system are. I thought my reply might offer help but seems it's the JTV's screwy ability to accept the firmware might be the problem - I remember before Line6 fixed the strat p2 and p4 problem many were recommending repeated updates to fix quite a few problems or just to be sure the update was successful. Hopefully someone with more knowledge than myself can assist you.
  17. If You are back to where you started - that means your guitar is now not a problem, correct? Well, the problem is that v 2.0 doesn't work with the old WB nor does any other previous version of firmware work with WB HD. Any version of firmware before Variax HD v2.0 only works with the old WB (which by the way, requires that you install v6? of Java that is available with the download if you don't have the old version on your computer still or ever).
  18. Sorry - I tried looking at the 69 and 59 from that link but not the 89/89F. Didn't expect them to show just the red and black. They used to have all the colors shown for US and Korean but Line 6 has changed the website since I last looked. I went to Sweetwater to see if they showed any other colors and all they show available is the Blood Red and Black. I tried to find a cached version of the last website layout that showed the colors and can't find anything and it seems all any online retailer is selling are the black and red ones. Maybe Line 6 discontinued those colors? If you are able to call them maybe their support department can set you straight. I tried, sorry - I can't seem to help you. Maybe someone else can chime in that knows how to find the old web color layout.
  19. Go here: http://line6.com/james-tyler-variax-guitars/jtv-us/ scroll down past main copy and close up photos and see individual models click on DETAILS under guitar model of choice then click on SEE FULL FEATURES then scroll down see the colors under specs and click on the color box and a full guitar photo will pop up
  20. The answer is... "Variax technology provided exclusively to Shuriken Guitars by Line 6." found here http://line6.com/support/topic/10999-new-shuriken-variax-models/ you must have missed it clay-man because I see that you replied to the thread I linked. I wonder why Parker is no longer including Variax tech in the newest version of the Adrian Belew Parker??? Maybe because Mr. Belew is using the Roland VG-99 with his current rig. http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/FlyABBB I posted a thread a few days ago with http://line6.com/support/topic/10938-anyone-using-d%E2%80%99addario-nyxl-on-their-jtv/
  21. Recently watched a Rig Rundown from Premier Guitar featuring Adrian Belew watch here: http://www.premierguitar.com/articles/21784-rig-rundown-adrian-belew at 7:54 he raves about using D’Addario NYXLs on his highly custom Parker with their special trem system and carbon fiber reinforced neck of course. Has anyone here used them or use them? D’Addario claims they "provide more strength and up to 131% greater tuning stability by utilizing a completely reinvented wire drawing process coupled with a revolutionary “fusion twist†process for the plain steels. The reformulated nickel plated string windings have greater magnetic properties resulting in higher output and enhanced mid-range frequency response for more presence and crunch." Any one using them had any trouble with the JTV piezos?
  22. Ah Ha... was trying to figure out what the heck you meant.
  23. Zap- I've been following this topic. What did you mean by this comment?
