  1. You don’t need a separate midi controller- your Helix Floor will do the job. And you don’t need to adapt presets. Your current Helix Floor presets, imported into Helix Native, should respond to the Helix expression pedal once you’ve configured Cubase to recognize the Helix Native plug-in to receive midi. Since you only want to have your Helix Floor expression pedal to control Helix Native it’s fairly simple: Enable MIDI in all components. Global Settings in Helix Floor Assign Helix Floor as MIDI IN device in Cubase Enable MIDI IN for Helix Native plugin in Cubase Once this has been done Helix Native should respond automatically to expression pedal movements on your Helix Floor device. Give this a try and let me know if it works.
  2. Yes, using MIDI. Here's a post I made a while back explaining how to do this. It will be a learning curve for you. Don't hesitate to come back and ask questions.
  3. I would open a support ticket. Line 6 staff will likely need to get involved to clear whatever hurdle is being presented.
  4. Check your PC settings to make sure it’s not going to sleep after some period of inactivity.
  5. Search Customtone for a starting point? https://line6.com/customtone/
  6. Yes Line 6 Monkey is a utility that updates your firmware. You may need it, you may not. Pod Farm is the plugin (VST) processor. If you register your X3 in your Line 6 account you may find you have a bundled license for the original Pod Farm product (not v2.5). If not you will need to purchase it if you want to use it.
  7. Surprisingly the Downloads area of this website lists X3 drivers for Win10 as well as a Win10 compatible version of Gearbox and Line 6 Monkey. Those are the pieces you will need to install. Colour me skeptical but perhaps it will all work!
  8. The Looper can be configured in Pre or Post FX mode (see Global Settings and manual pg20). Have you tried both?
  9. No M9 settings can’t be imported into Helix. IRs can probably be imported if they are *.wav files.
  10. The editor will not ‘overwrite’ anything you do on the device itself. The editor program does not have its own copy of any settings. It uses the data stored on the device to serve its display. Changes made using either the editor or the device itself are immediately reflected on the device and remain synchronized with the editor display.
  11. I dug around my backups library and found this from firmware version 2.81, Factory 1 setlist. Hope it's what you're looking for. Preset032-Placater Clean.hlx
  12. Every version of firmware includes a set of factory presets but they change over time. Also, the factory presets are not installed when firmware is updated; it requires a factory reset to install them. So what you’ve experienced makes perfect sense. At some point in time the firmware was updated to v3.71 from some earlier version but the factory presets for the earlier version remained in place - including the Placater Clean preset. When you performed the factory reset the v3.71 factory presets were installed, overwriting the previous set - including the Placater Clean preset. I have no idea what version of firmware included the Placater Clean factory preset but there’s a way to get it without needing anyone’s help. It’s tedious. You would have to reinstall every version of firmware starting at v3.70 and perform a factory reset after each installation so that you could inspect the factory presets associated with that firmware version. At some point you will discover the Placater Clean preset. A more efficient method would be to have someone help you by spending some time locating the Placater Clean preset among their system backups and attaching it for you. Or, search for threads here that I sometimes post that provide the factory setlists for new firmware versions shortly after they are released. I haven’t always done that but I’ve done it for recent updates. For instance: Good Luck!
  13. You need to assign the parameters to the Snapshot controller. Simultaneously push and rotate the associated encoder knob to do so. The parameter value will appear in brackets when properly assigned.
  14. To restore the factory presets on a POD HD 500X you need to reinstall the firmware:
  15. Yes, it should as long as the Send block is active (turned on). If you want the effect-processed signal to be routed back to the Helix Floor you also need to add the associated Return block and cable.
  16. It sounds like you may need to activate the Control Bar view in Cakewalk (see the Views tab at the top line menu items of Cakewalk). Also. if you already have a dry guitar track recorded you just need to insert the Helix Native plugin on the track (see the FX item associated with the track) and playback (not record) the track. There's no need to record another track (the #7 step you quoted above).
  17. 1. Yes 2. The Line 6 multi-FX processors compatible with the Variax Standard are the POD HD 500X and ProX, and Helix Rack/Floor/LT. 3. All of the Helix models.
  18. First, can you confirm that Cakewalk is working and that you are able to record and play back a guitar track? If so, record a dry (unprocessed) guitar track to use as the basis for getting Helix Native to work. Are you familiar with plug-in processing in a DAW, in this case Cakewalk? Are you able to insert other plugins in your dry guitar track? After confirming the above we can work on the specifics of Helix Native.
  19. From the manual: ”Typically, a cable adapter is required for connecting to mobile devices, such as an Apple Camera Connect Kit for lightning-equipped iOS devices, or a USB OTG adapter. All adapters are sold separately. Please refer to your mobile device manufacturer’s recommendations and instructions for connecting USB accessories.” Lots of other useful info in there too…. Just sayin’.
  20. Your cabling is incorrect. You should be running the POD Go Amp Out to your amp’s FX Return and your Main Out to the mixer. Not sure that explains the feedback but it is the proper cabling. In POD Go Global Settings -> Ins/Outs set Amp Out Source to Pre Cab/IR (see manual pg 42).
  21. Glad you got it worked out. But perhaps you should be more cautious about connecting power to electronic devices. Sounds like you connected things together without checking compatibility or requirements. That can quickly and easily cause internal components to fry beyond repair. A crackling sound and whiff of smoke should not be the way you discover that things aren’t properly matched.
