hx stomp xl Preset Mode 'Moment(ary)' not working
silverhead replied to adamvaughan's topic in Helix
Reading the manual (pg 58) I think you also need to set Stomp Mode to 4-switch in order to have Preset Mode momentary. -
Helix presets are fully compatible between Helix Native and HX Edit/Helix devices. You can export any Helix Native preset to a file on your computer and then drag/drop it into HX Edit. You can easily transfer your studio sound to the stage. You can even use Helix Native's Hardware Compatibility mode to transfer presets among different Helix device (e.g. HX Stomp to Helix Floor).

Controlling a Catalyst 100 with a Helix LT - how best to?
silverhead replied to steve_marsden1's topic in Catalyst
Ha! Your user profile Location says UK but finishing your sentence with ‘eh’ tells me you may be a fellow Canuck at heart. I got my first Line 6 product - POD X3 Live - in 2009. I was a complete newbie to the digital modeling world and spent a lot of time asking questions here and learning about the device in depth. After a while I found myself able to do what you describe : sharing knowledge with others. And …. 14 years later I’m still learning something new almost every day here. (And I do actually have a life outside of this space….. ;-) ) -
New Mac - moved Edit from old, now getting backup error 1130

Log in to your account within the POD Go Edit program (see bottom right corner of window). I think you are able to authorize your computer from there. -

Try running the Line 6 License Manager to authorize your new computer. -
You won’t need to assume. They key element of the routing in 4CM presets is the position of the FX Loop. Regardless of type of effect, those that appear before the FX Loop are sent to the physical amp’s preamp section and those that follow it aren’t. Examine the preset in terms of specific FX blocks before and after the FX Loop and decide for yourself whether you agree with the positioning for each ‘type’ of block. Remember, there are no rules about FX placement so there’s really no ‘proper’ placement/routing. Whatever sounds good to you is proper for you.
-
The 4 cable method provides the physical routing that you need for this. Configure your preset so that all the gain, boost etc pedals you want sent to the amp are placed before the FX Loop block in your preset. Place your post amp FX blocks after the preset's FX Loop. That's exactly what 4CM is designed to do.

You did your research, bought the device that you felt best met your needs, and have been thoroughly impressed. Why are you considering the upgrade? Have your needs changed? If there’s nothing specific you want to achieve with the upgrade I’d say you’re setting yourself up for a very ‘meh’ experience.

Glad it worked out. No need to apologize. You’re only the 35,672nd person (approximately ;-) ) who has reported update issues that were the direct result of not following the instructions.
-
You mentioned the Updater program. If you manually invoked Updater it means you didn’t follow the update instructions. Download and install the HX Exit v3.52 package (which also installs the latest Updater program). Then run HX Edit and allow it to manage the firmware installation. It will invoke Updater in the background but you should have no knowledge or indication of that.

Yes, that's simpler. I was tricked by the term 'Capo' which in real life transposes up, not down. But I now see that the Ploy Capo can transpose down too, and it's simpler to use if you only want to transpose.

how to update Old preset/snapshot V3.15 after Helix floor 3.50 update?
silverhead replied to esarlag's topic in Helix
Experiment with some new cab options, find what you like, create your Favorite models, then paste from your Favorites list to replace any (now)Legacy cabs. -
how to update Old preset/snapshot V3.15 after Helix floor 3.50 update?
silverhead replied to esarlag's topic in Helix
Yes, you have to edit each old preset to use the new cabs. The update process does not change your existing cabs in your presets. -
That’s highly subjective. Experiment. What sounds best to you is best for you. Generally speaking a pitch shifter will work best if it receives a clear input signal in order to best identify the original pitch. I would avoid putting it after FX that add much complexity to the tone, such as modulation, delay, and reverb. Seems to me that less complex FX like compression, EQ, and perhaps even a little distortion would be fine in front of the pitch shifter. It might be OK after a clean amp tone but I’d put it in front of a hi-gain or heavily distorted amp tone. But there are no rules here. Again experiment to discover what sounds good to you.

First gen acoustic/electric tone blend?
silverhead replied to magillver's topic in Variax Guitars / Bass / Workbench
Longer answer - ‘No, not possible’. ;-) I don’t know the technical details as to why you can’t add pickups to an acoustic body in Variax Workbench. Perhaps it’s just a design decision, not a technical one. The modeling is based on emulating real guitars, and none of the real acoustic guitars being modeled have electric guitar pickups. As you say, the newer Variax models (JTV and later) include mag pickups. Workbench HD includes an option to blend the modeled tone with the onboard mags. However, I’m not sure whether or not this option exists with acoustic models. Don’t see why not. I may have a chance to test that out later today. If so, and if still relevant, I will post the result. -
The simplest would be to use the Poly Pitch FX model. It’s very DSP intensive but only you can decide whether or not that would reduce the ‘quality’ of an existing patch. You may need to remove other FX blocks in an existing patch, or be prevented from using all the blocks you would like in a new patch.

Controlling Native through Cubase / MIDI controller
silverhead replied to jpspoons's topic in Helix Native
Sorry - I can't help with that. I've never tried to do that. I expect you are able to experiment and figure it out (if it can even be done) directly in Cubase with your midi controller better than I could in Cakewalk with Helix. Good Luck, and glad that I could help get you headed in the right direction. -
I assume you are using the latest version of HX Edit to perform the firmware update, hence also installing the latest Line 6 USB Driver. If not, try that. If that fails I expect it's a hardware issue with your used Helix. Open a support ticket.

Does audio drop out in all situations or only when USB is connected?

This is normal. USB audio from PC is sent directly to the POD Go main outputs. It is not sent through the processing path like a normal input, and it is not directed to the Amp Out jacks.

Controlling Native through Cubase / MIDI controller
silverhead replied to jpspoons's topic in Helix Native
I apply Native to the track as a plug-in; nothing different there. The important part is configuring Cakewalk to enable the sending of midi commands to Native. Cubase needs to be told to treat the Helix Native plug-in as if it were a midi device. I don’t know the mechanics of how to do this in Cubase but essentially you want to make Native available as an output to the midi automation track. With the midi automation track (like every track) you need to specify its input source and its output destination. For the automation track you assign Moni One as the input and Helix Native as the output. Then you simply record the midi track like any other, but you ‘play’ your midi controller like you would play your guitar. At specific points/moments in the recording you perform your midi operations. Then, on playback, these recorded midi commands are sent at the appropriate moments to the track’s specified output - Helix Native. -
Controlling Native through Cubase / MIDI controller

This describes using Cakewalk by Bandlab and Helix as the midi controller but I expect you’ll be able to use Cubase and a different midi controller instead. Hope it’s helpful.
