  1. What Line 6 product are you using? I can’t see the image you tried to upload; I can only see the text “error.png”. Your text appears in large block letters with a black background and only the first few words are visible. Can you try posting again in a more readable format with an actual image that we can see?
  2. I notice that the website for the WL- 20L product has a description about it not being compatible with all guitars. Have you looked into this to determine if the Guitar In jack of the HX Stomp is compatible?
  3. When the POD is connected to the Variax using a VDI cable it does NOT charge the battery. In fact, you should remove the battery when you use the VDI connection. Using both battery and VDI power simultaneously can cause problems. Note also that a VDI cable is not included with a JTV a guitar. It is different from the VDI-> RJ-45 cable pictured earlier. It is a special cable shielded at both ends for a more robust connection than a standard RJ-45 cable. It’s designed to withstand the rigours of movement during live performances without damaging the connectors at either end.
  4. Yes, with the following understanding. The Factory reset is what's most important here. Having done that all your custom presets are gone but any new factory presets have been installed. Of course you want to replace your custom presets, hence the Restore. But a complete Restore will immediately overwrite the new factory presets. That's why....
  5. I would suggest that you begin by downloading the HX Edit installer package and install all components. This will eliminate the need to individually download the Line 6 Updater program as well as any drivers. The only other thing you will need to download manually is the Helix v3.6 firmware file. Then run Line 6 Updater and choose to install using the local firmware file.
  6. I don’t see this mentioned earlier in the thread. Have you read pg12 of the JTV Pilot’s Guide?
  7. Try this: Use a capo on the 5th fret. Use Workbench to create two models, one for your six string in standard tuning and another for the 12-string. In the 6-string model detune all strings to -5. This offsets the capo and returns this model to standard tuning. In the 12-string model proceed as you normally would for a 12-string model. Define the models to be adjacent in the Variax Bank/Model storage. You should now be able to use the pickup selector to switch between a 6-string in standard tuning and a 12-string with capo on 5. If you have a VDI device like a Helix you could use Snapshots for this rather than different Variax models. Of course you will be limited to five fewer frets in the upper register for solo parts on the 6-string. Could be an issue for Hotel California depending on the guitar parts you’re palying.
  8. Well, now I understand what you are trying to do, and you can do it with Pod Farm. I didn't say you can't get stereo EFFECTS with just one mic. I said you can't get a stereo input signal. But even with a mono input (one mic) you can get stereo FX in your output signal when using a device/instrument like POD Farm. That has stereo FX that work by taking a mono input, splitting it internally into duplicate L and R channels, processing each channel separately, and producing a stereo output. So by using one mic and using Pod Farm stereo FX blocks you can generate a stereo output. It's just that you won't be able to distinguish between different external inputs. For instance, you can have two singers sharing the one mic and set the FX up so that both voices simultaneously ping-pong back and forth between the two speakers. But you can't have one voice in one speaker and the other voice in the other speaker, or have the two voices panned differently in the stereo field. For that you would need two mics.
  9. Just to be sure... are you actually using two mics, one plugged into each input? The symptoms you describe suggest you may be using only one mic and expecting a stereo input. That's impossible. A stereo input requires two separate physical input sources which it calls L and R.
  10. I’m talking about a little triangle that appears during the Restore from Backup dialogue box. It shows you all components that are present in the backup file and you get to select which ones to install. On my Helix Rack there are 8 setlists which appear when you click on the triangle left of the word Presets. I don’t know exactly how the dialogue appears for an HX Stomp backup but you should be able to extrapolate. Again, this dialogue appears when you select Restore from Backup in the HX Edit File menu. Actually, looking at the HX stomp manual the Setlist concept may not exist, in which case there will be no option to select which setlists to restore, so no triangle. Also, not having an HX Stomp I don’t know whether or not there are any new presets for it. Hopefully someone familiar with the HX Stomp will jump in here.
  11. Yes, it should. How exactly do you know that it’s not?
  12. OK, so having selected Mic Stereo, what exactly is happening that you think should be different? Are both mics delivering a signal, simultaneously, for POD Farm processing?
  13. I'm not sure I understand. Each mic is a mono device; you can't generate a stereo signal on input. It seems correct to me that at the time of input/recording each mic is assigned its own channel, L or R. At the OUTPUT or post-recording stage you should be able to blend the two inputs into a stereo signal.
  14. First, use HX Edit to make backups of everything you want to use again later. You can backup individual presets, or setlists, or create a complete system backup. Then consult the item below to find the specific reset procedures for your Helix device. Sounds like you want to use FS2 and FS3.
  15. Your ears are extremely well developed and sensitive listening devices. The vibrating strings are only a foot or two from your ears. The amp is much farther away and hence needs to be much louder to overpower the sound of the vibrating strings.
  16. Go to the Downloads area of this website (see top of this page). Select HX Edit from the middle (software) field. Hit the Download button at the bottom of the v3.6 info panel. Check to make sure you are selecting the right editor package (Windows/Mac). What you are downloading is an installer package. Execute the installer to install all required programs and drivers. These include the programs HX Edit, Line 6 Updater, and (for Windows) various drivers for communication between your computer and the Helix device. Install all listed components. After installation, run the under HX Edit program. It should prompt you that an update is available. If not, login to your Line 6 account within HX Edit (bottom left area of window). Follow the instructions to install the v3.6 firmware on your Helix device.
  17. Have you ever opened a support ticket? Your situation seems highly unusual to me and I strongly suspect it’s something to do with your particular computing environment. Line 6 Tech Support may have relevant info.
  18. Official or not, this thing is a computer. Like any computer it has a certain amount of 1. processing power based on CPU specifications 2. permanent storage (disk drives) 3. temporary storage (RAM). In Helix terms that’s 1. DSP 2. Static Operating system, Global Settings, IRs, Setlists, Presets… 3. Dynamic Operating system, Preset audition and editing space, looper space, … It’s just a computer with a guitar-player human interface. Edit: As clarified by datacommando below, firmware doesn’t require the OS to be stored on an internal drive.
  19. I’m not familiar with Pro Tools so can’t advise on how HN behaves there. But as a general workaround…. When you are freezing HN can you Save the preset to the HN library and take note of the name and location? Then you’ll at least be able to recover the settings later by recalling the preset. I expect you’re already doing that and are just looking for an answer to your question, but I’m just mentioning it in case. Might be a bug in HN that should be reported through the support ticket mechanism?
  20. Regarding your preset renaming, make sure you hit the Enter (or Return) key to complete the renaming procedure. Unless you do this the name reverts to its previous state. The reset does, indeed, remove your custom setlists. Use HX Edit to Restore the backup file created at the beginning of the update procedure. The reset procedure installed the new factory presets in v3.6. If you want to retain them deselect the factory setlist(s?) during the restore procedure. Click on the triangle beside the Presets list and uncheck these ones.
  21. Well I’m not 100% certain of that but almost. Otherwise, why would the latest version of the Updater program be included in the HX Edit installation package?
  22. Remember, I said you ‘probably’ don’t need it…. ;-)
  23. Yes, offline updating as you describe will resolve situations where Internet connectivity is not robust or stable enough for the connection to persist through the update process. Sounds like that is what’s happening to you. Are you experiencing Internet dropouts in other situations? I think the only technical difference between the HX Edit managed firmware update and the offline update is the Internet connection time required. In both cases Line 6 Updater is operating on the firmware file. In one case the Updater is invoked in the background by HX Edit and the firmware file is dealt with over time using a stable internet connection. In the offline case the firmware file is downloaded manually in advance and the Updater program is invoked manually. End result is the same in both cases - the firmware update is installed in the Helix device.
