  1. Great. Glad it’s working now. The bit about the on/off state of the blocks is what I meant in my first response: “consider using the 4-cable method (4CM) with Stomp presets designed accordingly.” Also note that in 4CM you should not use a cab block in your Stomp preset for the same reason - you don’t want cabs in serial.
  2. It’s a bit hard to see but I think the picture you attached of the Stomp preset shows both the preamp block and the FX Loop block active. That means the signal is, indeed, passing through both preamps. In your Stomp preset you should have only one of those blocks active when using 4CM. If you want to use the preset’s preamp turn the FX Loop off. When you want to use your physical amp’s preamp turn the preset’s preamp off and the FX Loop on.
  3. If I understand correctly you are connecting the Stomp Output to the Guitar Input of your amp, which is the preamp section of your amp (even if it is the Clean channel). When you turn on the preamp in your Stomp preset you are then routing your signal through two preamps. This will rarely sound good and it’s probably the cause of the noise. If your amp has an FX Loop, try routing the Stomp output to the Return input of your amp. This bypasses your amp’s preamp section and allows you to use only the power amp and cab section of your physical amp. For best and most flexible results consider using the 4-cable method (4CM) with Stomp presets designed accordingly.
  4. I don’t think that’s possible. The manual describing the Command Center shows no ability to assign the Tap Tempo switch to a MIDI command.
  5. It seems like the installation of v3.60 did not successfully replace the v3.5 version. Somehow your computer system is invoking 3.5 when you launch the Helix Native program. If you are able to look into the technicals and resolve that you should be OK. But…. Rather than try to pinpoint and resolve that error it’s probably simpler to uninstall all versions of Helix Native from your computer and then start again. Before doing so make backups of any setlists/presets you want to keep. This is just a precaution since they should not be wiped out but better to be careful.
  6. The only preset-compatible devices for the Helix Rack are the Helix Floor and the Helix LT. The LT is smaller and more portable.
  7. Line 6 won’t answer it. They don’t release product plans in advance. And since Yamaha Guitar Group purchased Line 6 several years ago Yamaha now owns the Variax IP so future product plans are in their hands. Which means any response you get here is pure speculation.
  8. Follow the Support link at the top of this page.
  9. Use the HX Stomp and its ASIO driver as your audio interface rather than using a Send block to a different interface. You can record the DI dry signal over USB5. The signal is tapped directly off the Guitar Input on your Stomp so is, in fact, exactly the signal your Stomp is processing. So using the same preset in Helix Native should yield exactly the same result. See the manual for the section on recording. If you must use a different audio interface then, yes, you may have a leveling issue in order to have the HX Stomp and the Helix Native preset sound identical. You’ll need to experiment because it will depend on your equipment. I would start with adjusting the level of the Send block in your HX stomp. Be aware of a couple of things: 1. The incoming signal level to your dry track should be significantly lower than the level you are used to seeing coming in to your DAW. The processing of the HX Stomp preset, especially the amp sim, increases the output level. 2. The signal from the Send block in your HX stomp preset will necessarily be different than the signal at the Guitar Input of your HX Stomp because it will have gone through an A/D and D/A conversion before hitting your audio interface. Both of these concerns are eliminated when you use the HX Stomp as your interface.
  10. Here’s a test to determine whether or not there’s a problem. Power off your Helix device, then power back on. It may or may not rebuild presets. If it does, that’s probably normal for the reasons already mentioned. Whether or not it rebuilt presets, turn it off immediately before importing any other presets. Now power it back on again. If it rebuilds any presets again there’s a problem. Take note of the preset numbers that are being rebuilt and come back here with that info. If no presets are rebuilt there’s no problem - but you can expect presets to be rebuilt again the first time you power on after importing any older presets.
  11. You should contact Line 6 Support - see top of this page.
  12. Correct. I have changed the thread title accordingly. Thanks.
  13. Just to clarify, I am suggesting that people open a support ticket if they are experiencing this particular bug - a failure of HX Edit to recognize that an update exists. Most things that go wrong during an update are different from this and should not necessarily be reported before coming here to seek a solution.
  14. Likely a bug at this point. I suggest everyone experiencing this open a support ticket.
  15. That’s not behaving properly. The top display should not be as difficult to see as you describe. If it’s a brand new unit under warranty or trial period take it back for replacement. If it was purchased used in as-is condition you will need to contact an authorized Line 6 service Center for repair. Alternatively, if you’re ambitious and a little handy you can take it apart to expose a ribbon connector for the display panel and inspect it for damage. Make sure the connector is tightly seated. This will void any warranty
  16. As long as your disabled unit is able to connect to POD HD500X Edit, or you already have a backup of your dream preset, you’ll be OK. Use the editor with your disabled unit connected to save backups of (export) whatever presets and setlists you want to transfer. Then close the editor program, disconnect your old unit, connect your new unit, and launch the the editor again to import the stuff you saved. Before doing that you should check to see whether the firmware of the new device needs updating, and do it if so.
  17. A preset is a collection of specific FX blocks and a specific amp/cab selection in a particular order (signal chain). And we’re not just talking about FX Types (e.g. a Mod block and a Delay block). We’re talking about the specific models of those types (e.g. 70s Chorus and Digital Delay). Snapshots are variations of the parameter values for the given model selections. ALL snapshots in any preset share the same selection of FX block and amp/cab models. So yes, you can paste a factory preset to REPLACE a new User preset and then use that preset as the basis for creating snapshots. By changing the parameter values of the blocks in the preset in different snapshots you can dramatically change the sound of the guitar by changing snapshots within the preset. But you can’t paste an existing preset as a snapshot within another preset because the signal chains are almost certainly different (re-read the first sentence of this post).
  18. 1) Both the JTV and the Standard Variax guitars use the same modeling technology. In fact. the Variax Standard was introduced after the JTV series so as a model it is more recent. However, both remain in production so there's no telling when each actually came off the production line without tracing serial numbers. But as mentioned - it doesn't really matter as far as the modeling is concerned. This also answers your unnumbered 4th question. There are differences in the physical guitar - manufacturing and mag pickups - but the modeling sounds the same. 2) Variax guitars are still in production, meaning parts and servicing are still available. Of course like any electronic device in any industry, it will eventually fail. At worst you'll still have a guitar with regular pickups. 3) Only you can answer that. How much do you really want a Shuriken? Is it worth the wait, to you? What about customs/duty costs?
  19. I would open a support ticket. Sounds to me like something is amiss in your PC/Mac environment.
  20. There are no IRs in factory firmware. Nothing to overwrite. This may be useful info for you.
  21. I’m not sure if the Vol pedal position uses an optical sensor but if so it might explain things. If the sensor or its housing is somehow out of position it could be detecting the shadow of your foot as pedal movement. Don’t have any idea how to fix it other than an ‘unscheduled rapid disassembly’ of the pedal (sorry, SpaceX) followed by a planned reassembly after fixing the sensor. Best done in an authorized service centre.
  22. Have you tried logging in to your Line 6 account while in HX Edit (see bottom left corner of image #2)? I doubt that it will matter but worth trying.
  23. Just to be sure…. You also updated HX Edit to v3.6?
  24. I don’t think there will ever be updates to the current line of Variax guitars. However, I think the concept may still be alive within the Yamaha Guitar Group, who now own Line 6. Yamaha is a guitar maker, and in fact the Variax Standard model is based on a physical Yamaha Pacifica guitar. For whatever reason YGG has been sitting on the Variax IP for years now. Is a new Yamaha branding (not called Variax) with updated features and firmware in development? As usual we’d never know until it’s ready for release but I wouldn’t rule it out.
