  1. What device are you using the FBV3 with? Do you mean the pedal sweep is not affecting the Vol/Wah FX?
  2. I’m no Variax repair technician but I suspect this is some sort of shielding material to prevent the possibility of internal short circuiting. If you don’t know exactly where it came from and don’t replace it in exactly the right position that may explain your problem. Worst case? What you’ve done by powering on the Variax without that shielding installed has allowed a short circuit to fry one or more of the internal electronic parts. You may now be looking at an expensive repair. Again, the most prudent thing to do is take to an authorized repair centre.
  3. Since you are new to snapshots I suspect the issue is that you are not yet using them correctly. There is no change in snapshot behaviour from v3.5 to v3.6 so I don’t think there’s any benefit to downgrading. Let’s work instead on getting your v3.6 snapshots to work properly. What you describe may be normal behaviour depending on your Global Settings for the display (8 presets, 4presets/4 snaps, 8 snaps, 10 stomps, …). We need more details to help you. You say that in the 8 presets Display setting everything is working fine. Can you describe exactly what you feel is not working in another display setting? Note that in Stomp mode you can arrange to have a footswitch select a different preset or a different snapshot - not just turn an FX block on/off. Also, are you sure you are assigning parameters to the Snapshot controller correctly?
  4. Have you also upgraded the Helix device firmware to v3.60?
  5. I find Customtone presets can sometimes be useful examples to learn about different routing and application options. For instance, a single preset for Helix guitar and vocals, or for blending Variax models and mags, or parallel paths, or using expression pedals as FX parameter controllers, or using Snapshots, etc. Having said that, the Search function in Customtone doesn’t easily support finding such presets. But in terms of tone it’s best to spend the time learning to build your own presets.
  6. Further thoughts for you.... Firstly, Customtone is an unmoderated site. Any one can post any preset with any name and description. That doesn't mean it will sound like whatever mental image that may conjure up in your mind. In fact, most Customtone presets do not initially sound as you might imagine at first listen. That's because your equipment in your environment is almost certainly different from the person's who posted the preset. Factors like the specific guitar, string guage, playing style, and most importantly the monitoring equipment (guitar amp, PA speakers, studio monitors, headphones) will be different. The sum of these have a huge impact on what you hear. In most cases a Customtone preset provides, at best, a good starting point for tweaking. Secondly, you want to try matching settings in a preset designed for a non-Helix device in a Helix device. Again, that will at best provide a starting point. In this case the reason is that Helix family devices use different modeling technology than previous devices. The very same 'based on' amp model with exactly the same parameter settings in the older device will sound different (sometimes vastly different) on the Helix device. The same is true for all FX models. Don't expect good results initially. My advice? Forget about trying to transfer settings from older Customtone presets to Helix. Spend that time (and there will be lots of it) learning how to build your own Helix presets.
  7. @HeidiandersonI will respond to your post because it's recent and your first post here. The others were years ago. Are you experiencing any specific problem with your Line 6 equipment? If so, please describe it here and perhaps we can help. Have you had any contact with Line 6 support? What are the facts behind your claim that Line 6 does not prioritize customer satisfaction and loyalty? In what way are you dissatisfied, and what did Line 6 do when you contacted them about it?
  8. When using the POD Go as the audio interface were you also using its ASIO driver in your DAW?
  9. Can’t say what the rectangular piece is because you don’t provide the scale or material. Is it the size of your hand? Your thumb? Half of your baby fingernail? Is it metal, rubber, or plastic? But in any case you’ve already shown yourself to be unable to repair your Variax. If you want to get it working again you should take it to an authorized Line 6 service center.
  10. Not sure what you mean by ‘older’ but I presume you mean they appear in Customtone as being compatible with older Line 6 products (not Helix) rather than being shown as compatible with Helix but with an older posting date. It will not be a simple task to take an arbitrary download from Customtone and be able to view it in its compatible editor. Older Line 6 products use different editors. For instance, if the preset is shown as being compatible with a POD HD500X you need to use the POD HD500X program. A POD HD ProX preset needs the POD HD ProX Edit program. A POD X3 or POD XT preset needs either Line 6 Edit or Gearbox - I’m not sure which. Also, some of these edit programs need to have the compatible device connected in order to work. I other words you would need to have POD X3 device in order to view the POD X3 preset. However, the POD HD suite of editors can be run offline (I.e. no device connected). It would not be too difficult to download an HD preset from Customtone, download and install the appropriate editor program, and then be able to view the preset without the associated POD HD device connected.
  11. Assuming the 4CM connections are correct, and that you are using a combo amp (not just the head), I think you may have to adjust your POD Go preset configuration. When using 4CM your preset should never use a cab model because your physical guitar cab is always being used. Also your preset should have EITHER a POD Go amp model OR the FX Loop active at any time; not both. You don’t want to have your guitar signal passing through both a POD Go amp model and your physical amp’s preamp section (it’s front panel Guitar input).
  12. There is an identified bug with HX Edit running on a certain version of Mac OS that affects detecting updates. I forget which specific version but it sounds like the one you’re using. The bug will be fixed soon. Meantime…. Go to the Downloads page and search for v3.6 of Helix Firmware. Download the file to a location on your computer. Run the Line 6 Updater program, part of the HX Edit installation package so you should already have it installed. Choose to Update from File and select the downloaded firmware file to install.
  13. The Helix Native plug-in does not include the Looper block. Looping within a DAW is controlled by the DAW.
  14. Use Snapshots. Read the manual for details about what they are and how to use them.
  15. There’s no direct ‘print’ capability in HX Edit and I’m not aware of any 3rd party offering. The *.hlx preset files are in JSON format and theoretically could be handled by a custom utility program that could be designed to print whatever info you want in whatever format you want. I don’t know if setlist files are the same, but a setlist is nothing but a collection of presets. But you’d need to define exactly what you mean by ‘get my setlist in a text format’. Do you want just preset names? Include per-preset amp/FX block names? Detailed parameter settings? Signal routing info? I don’t know what you mean by an instrument file for your DAW.
  16. AhHa.. A closer look at the manual reveals this…. The Backup Presets operation creates a backup file that includes your Setups, Scenes, Stage Icon Presets.
  17. 1). Yes. The Pod GO has plenty of volume for the FOH. Set the Master Volume of the POD Go to max and let the FOH tell you if you need to dial it back. 2). This depends on the distance from your POD Go on stage to the FOH connections. If more than 20’ I suggest balanced cables. 3). See #2. Purchase 1/4” to XLR balanced cable and use the L/MONO output from the POD Go.
  18. They will want to know details of your computing environment. If you haven't already provided that info in your Line 6 account it might help to do so now. What it means is that Line 6 will be able to investigate your issue without having to ask you for that info first. Then they can back to you with something more meaningful than 'What computer are you using?'
  19. That's absolutely true. What you hear with Helix and any amp modeler is not, and never will be, the sound of the amp in the room - because it's not in the room and your ears are very good at noticing the difference. The 'something' between the sound and your ears is a microphone or two. What you hear from an amp modeler like Helix is what the audio engineer hears through the soundboard when he/she places a mic in front of the amp. You hear the amp in the room; the engineer hears the sound of the mic'd amp in the contrrol booth. Yes, if you want the sound of the amp in a room continue to use your amp in the room with you. Sell the Helix but don't imagine that any other amp modeler will be different in that respect. For gigs, let the sound people mic your amp and deal with the sound your audience hears.
  20. Yes, they are. I can't explain what's happening, and yes it's disturbing. I would open a support ticket. I suspect there's some interaction with your specific computing environment. Line 6 would want to know about it.
  21. Your picture shows that the filename is a duplicate file, indicated by the (1). Perhaps that is causing confusion? Just a guess, but try using the original, or rename the hxb file.
  22. The Setup files are stored on the M20d. When you use the System Settings feature you can create a backup of all Presets to an SD card or USB drive. I believe this is an entire system backup and includes Setups and Scenes. The document does not specify this but I know I have successfully made Setup backups and this seems to be the way to do it.
  23. What Helix device are you using? Your title says 'stop'. Is that a misspelling of Stomp or you do you just mean that it stops booting? Take look at this document. Identify your device and and try performing a factory reset.
  24. By ‘cabs in serial’ I mean that the signal chain delivers the output signal from one cab to the input of another cab. In your case, using 4CM and your physical amp, you are always using the speaker/cab of your physical amp. That is ‘the input of another cab’, and using it is an unavoidable feature of 4CM. That means that your signal chain should not contain any modeled cab which delivers ‘the output signal of one cab’.
