Please Try This Little "experiment"
jefflynyrd replied to McLenison's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
I mean other than the anomaly with tuning the D string down to C... The other strings don't clash? I don't tune my guitar down but have thought about dropping it down a half step and using virtual capo to bring it into 440 but haven't tried it yet.... I guess I was questioning on a purely selfish reason and not to figure out your own issue... And for that I'm sorry. -

ok... I'll have to try that tomorrow after work... p.s. Do your 12 strings sound ok? -

I had an issue (different to the clashing D to D#) but maybe related in some way... I had some strings, mainly the B and high e, which were ending prematurely and not ringing true. I adjusted my bridge a lil higher and it fixed it... Maybe your nut is a tiny fraction low and making your guitar sound funny on that D string... Just a thought... -
As johnnyayyy said, yes you can roll it back. I love the update and think to my ears it was a major improvement in a majority of the modeled guitars. IMHO none of the 12 strings sounded useable no matter how much I tweaked them. But I will be staying with V2 as I think its an upgrade and not just an update.

The dreaded warble? I have same issue with ALL 12 string models. Sounds like it is pitch shifting modulating... I can't get rid of it. But been so busy with enjoying other tones and guitars that I haven't had time to mess with it... -
thanks chuskey! :D

Charlie, yep. it dampens the sound cutting out (in theory) some warble undertones. -

V2 Hd Comparison Video
jefflynyrd replied to andiw's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
excellent comparisons! Thanks. V2 sounds way better overall. I'm thrilled with the update! -
jeez this is weird... yesterday everything worked spectacularly... This morning tho, after reading the advanced editor functions, I figured that I was ready to dive deep into the WB editor functions (changing resistor and caps). Well, after double checking w the monkey to make sure I was on V2, I started WB and I can not change the strings tunings. And it (WB) doesn't recognisize (: any of the alternate tuning that are already in my variax... Anyone have this issue? Thanks. p.s. I love my JTV59 and while I know its not perfect, I think there is NOTHING that even comes close to the versatility AND downright QUALITY of this guitar! I've been playing for 40 years and I have an American deluxe strat that while the tones are great and the build quality is as well, my JTV59 is better. Not just b/c all the different guitars built in, but the quality of workmanship is... well... BETTER. p.p.s. Some ppl are gonna bit@h if you hang 'em with a new rope!

Thanks Zap. You ARE the man!

OHHH crap! lol...OK... I know I haven't read the info.... so after hookin' it up to midi, can I save the changes onto my POD HD500?
-
I recently got the JTV59 and the DT25 amp to complete my 'dream rig'. (I've had the HD500 for a yr and a half). The learning curve is steep, and honestly I'm so impressed with most of the tones that I have already made. So much so, that I don't even know if my amp follows the topologies of the patches that I edit on my pod HD edit software on my computer... Is that right? Am I not utilizing all 30 of the amps from when I updated it to v2.0? GOD, I hope you all don't think I'm stupid... I've just been enjoying the BEST tones in my life and this rig has REALLY upped my playing skill. And the amount of playing time...Thanks. :D
