Palico
The usual sites seem to have just the normal versions. The thought had crossed my mind to look into a JTV-89F US. It will likely leave once I see the price tag, but never hurts to inquire.

It will likely leave once I see the price tag, but never hurts to inquire. Sweetwater has the US versions. I don't see the 89F but they are all custom made to order anyways so I am sure you can order one if you have the cash... http://www.sweetwater.com/store/search.php?s=jtv&sb=high2low
Triryche
IIRC, the last time I saw a price for the 89F US on Sweetwater, it was $5,
cruisinon2
If I was gonna drop almost $4K on a guitar, then I'd grab a used JTV with functional electronics, gut it, and have them built into my new genuninely custom axe. When you approach a luthier who builds honest-to-god "custom" instruments, it's a blank canvas. Choice of woods, neck profile and radius, hardware, finish, frets...everything is up to you. I went down this road about 15 years ago and spent serious $$ on what is most likely the finest guitar I'll ever own, as far as craftsmanship is concerned. Pics here: http://phiferdesigns.com/options.htm The US built JTVs (along with almost everything else that is sold as "custom", no matter who the manufacturer is) do not really meet this definition, imho. You'll have a few more finishes to choose from, and from the advertising blurbs promises of various "tone woods", and much attention to detail. But the specs are what they are, which is exactly the same as the Korean made JTVs for 1/4 of the price (if not less). Whether or not they are "worth it" is subjective, of course...but and I haven't been able to find anything that indicates that you can alter any specs, features, or hardware on these guitars. That being the case, the price tag seems outragiously high...just my 2 cents.

Yea for that scratch I would just get an fully custom guitar. Thanks for the link thought, was wonder how much extra. A 1000, extra I might could consider but $4000 more nope. Hadn't heard Line 6 was doing half price on their custom work...

ColonelForbin
I think Sweetwater has 'stock' of some of the US JTV's- I see some models say special order, but this one for example says "in stock, available for immediate delivery"... http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/JTV59US1ACS
ColonelForbin
but for that model (59) only the cherry sunburst was 'stock',the others are special order.. I would imagine the extended lead time is the norm, and being in stock is the exception?
