duncann
Sometimes there's not enough time, other times too much. It apparently tries to trick you. In the end all you can do is go with the flow, whatever that flow is at the current moment. Thanks for taking the time to listen. Enjoy. The Artifice Of Time. I make heavy use of snapshots (makes things so easy) in this song. I also use the reverse delay in a couple of short sections, which gave me nightmares because it's used in a way that suppresses the dry signal, which means that what comes out of the speaker is different than what is being played.
BillBee
Zoinks! D, that was sweet. I am still trying to get over the 3:00 section of Null Vitiator and you throw this up. :D Going all Mobius on me. Thanks! Bill

I try to write things that are a bit out of the ordinary, so hopefully this song has a couple of those moments. I had to play the section (hopefully memorable and unique) you referenced from Null Vitiator. It's been a while since I've listened to that song. It's interesting to write something like that, have a bunch of time pass, then listen to it again and wonder what the lollipop I did to do that, beyond a vague notion. Lol. I do remember that song was done with an HD500X.
BillBee
The production and compositions have been really nice across the board, and really reminds me to stop hammering the Zakk Wylde type licks and return to phrasing. The phrasing in TaoT (to me at least) is like ease dropping on someone telling a story, you can't quite hear the words but you know what is being said. Nice. Think the Charlie Brown teacher - you know there is a convo and your mind creates what the words are based of the tones and phrasing. BTW If you turn out to be a 6 year old Korean girl you will go on my "spite list" :D -B

That is, the attempt at telling a story without words. And dammit! How did you figure it out?
BillBee
LoL!! Yes, to the spite list you go with your wee shreddy fingers, whilst I go learn to tie shoes with my giant ham mittens. ;)

Yet another killer recording from a great player! Great tune and tone! How many whammy bars did you have to replace on this one? :) Once again some masterful whammy usage. Time can really suck you in like a vortex, I refer to that as the "Orifice Of Time" (I prefer your title). :D

Durning the course of this song another tremolo arm went kaput. I've got quite the collection going, and it's actually a couple more (carbon graphite ones) than the picture shows. I was lucky enough to have two of them replaced under warranty from Ibanez and they wanted the broken ones back.

Now that is rock & roll!
BillBee
I keep thinking of Ritchie Blackmore and the abuse he used to attack the bar. IIRC he eventually had a monster one built that withstood the onslaught. :) and from Sixteen Candles: No more yanky my wanky! -> forgive me its early :D -B
duncann
Haha. Long Duck Dong. I suppose I could have a titanium bar made, but even that I suspect would eventually give way at the weak point. It's not that I'm abusive to the bar, at least I don't think so, it's just overuse, or is overuse abuse too?
SvenMagnus
Just discovered your bandcamp page through another thread, and it's been playing for a while now. Really digging all of it! I have a question : What do you use for drums? I can't tell if it's a real drummer, or fake.

I use One Small Clue's Poise with the free G&S Custom Work Drum Kit Sample Library 1.0, and Reaper. Add some EQs, compressors, and other effects to individual kit pieces, some overall convolution reverb, and that's about it. I use my own custom mapping and a single midi track. It looks like the link I provided for the kit contains some refined samples from what I have, which I download a few years back. I see that it's still free. One of these days I might have to use one of the better known drum programs.
