spikey
Guys, Just thinking out loud- I know that sometimes there are issues that either scare you or flat lollipop you off when Helix does not work as intended. I know it does me, because for most of us this unit is a chunk of change to spend. I do get it. I would also say that most often this is caused by user (human) error, or because another patch is needed to fix the patch that broke something. ;) In rare cases its a problem that needs addressed and or fixed by doing what is suggested by the users here, or by creating a ticket and shipping it to Line 6 for repairs. My point is this. When it is fixed and working correctly again, please modify your topic on the forums as FIXED, or at least state that this issue has been or will be solved! Why does all that matter? When new people look at these forums (and they do all the time) and see that issues are being or have been corrected, they are then not scared off of buying said product (by doom and gloom topics) , versus those posts that have not been rectified by a simple few words from the OP about issues no longer an issue. And whats the point of all my harping and brow beating on this you ask? Because as our numbers increase the more vocal (powerful) we become as a Helix user group, and as they decrease, the opposite is true. This number of Helix product users (US) tie directly hand in hand with how long our updates happen and support with Line 6 last. Its just common sense to want to increase our numbers here, and one of the easiest ways to do this on our part is to not scare OFF potential buyers with un warranted TOPIC DRAMA, just because we didn't take the time to RTFM when updating the firmware, and then we didn't take the time to admit it on a followup post. No harm intended and not pointing the finger at anyone specifically. :)
datacommando
Damn! Will someone at Line 6 put a tuner in the Editor for "spikey".
jbuhajla
There is also the misconception that Line 6 patrols the forums looking for people with issues and that Line 6 will seek you out to fix said issue. This is a useful link for those that think it is the case... http://line6.com/support/forum-86/announcement-78-why-is-line-6-not-responding/
cruisinon2
Wow...we must be short on actual problems this week. ;) Don't know about anyone else, but I have neither the time, nor the inclination to worry about what products the rest of humanity is or isn't buying. And frankly, if one is so malleable, that their entire decision making process is based on the rantings and ravings found on an internet forum, they're likely to be "scared off" from ever buying anything. If I have a conversation about Helix with a buddy while sitting on a cross town bus, do I have to seek out anyone who might have overheard the discussion, and update them about future developments? What if they were all bassoonists, and couldn't care less? Where does it end? :) To think that anything said around here will have any measurable effect on the longevity of a product is a little naïve. The vast majority of owners...of anything...don't bother to seek out these murky little enclaves. None of us (or our opinions) are that important or influential. These forums only SEEM like a pulpit, with the faceless masses hanging on one's every word. Truth is, we're all just a handful of tiny (mostly unheard) voices in a vast sea of white noise. In other words, say what you will...update, don't update. Nobody's waiting with bated breath over whether or not Bob from Des Moines resolved his Helix problem, before they decide to go shopping (and if they are, they need medication ;) ). Helix will have it's lifespan whatever it may be, regardless.

Be a part of humanity or not, its up to you. But If you think what a group of like minded people say here (or anywhere else) doesn't really matter, then you might be the naive one (who also didn't pay much attention to the last election results). That white noise you speak of was sure heard loud and clear then huh. ;) All joke aside and after the problem is solved, fix yer gripes folks as its the right thing to do. Oh, I see...so if I'm not up nights worrying about who might not be buying a Helix, based on some long-defunct internet conversation that I failed to adequately "update", then I don't qualify as part of humanity. Glad we straightened that out. Excuse me, but I'll have to go. Time to turn over a new leaf. We got a new dishwasher last week, and I'm gonna alert the populace with sky writing. Wouldn't want anyone within 50 radial miles who's on the fence about buying a Whirlpool to miss out on my review. Don't know if I could live with myself... AlexKenivel
Wow. Cereal has been thoroughly shat in this morning. Spike, this forum is not new to people posting problems and not updating threads. In fact it's been happening here for years. I like the effort tho.. RRMark
I had similar thoughts and also with some of the poor out of the box videos, even by well known guitar pages. Wondered if sales therefore finance for longevity of development would be affected. Still, it does what I need very well, so I'm not that bothered !
