iturnbolts
https://imgur.com/a/vC6Mt This rubber cap was found in my helix box and I’d like to know where it should go? Assuming there’s a reason for it whether it’s a plug on the back or something more important? Loving the helix by the way. I’m overwhelmed but taking things in little by little
silverhead
That looks like the cap that fits over a VDI connection. Try to fit it on the rear panel of your Helix where you would connect a Variax guitar.

I’m overwhelmed but taking things in little by little Mine was loose in the box when I got my Helix too. I thought it fit where the expression pedal bolt is located to keep dust out of the pedal. That's where mine is now. :)
brue58ski
It is definitely for the VDI input. If you accidentally try to plug something into that, even just barely, you can kiss your Variax connectivity good bye. I learned this the hard way on an older Variax. 😠I was able to fix it myself, thank goodness. So if there's nothing plugged into the VDI, that is where that cap resides on my Helix. Dust is another issue that can mess with it. Again, I speak from experience.
MusicLaw
You're not alone. I too found that same rubber cap loose inside the sealed plastic bag of my new Helix Floor, and wondered about it's rightful purpose. At first, I used it to cover the Expression Pedal adjustment bolt until I learned that it was intended for the Variax jack (a Hybrid of an RJ45 type Ethernet like jack inside an XLR jack). It took a bit of fussing to extract it from the Expression pedal bolt head. Moreover, as it is a flexible and relatively soft pliable rubber cap, although I was able to work it into the Variax jack, it did not want to seat flush. It struck me that a rigid cylindrical plastic snap on cap would have been a more secure and appropriate fit. Either way, it's been covering the Variax jack for over a year now, and I have no current plan for a Variax. So unless, Line 6 introduces some other purpose for that jack, such as Ethernet. or connect to some as yet to be introduced Line 6 product/device, the cap will remain where it is. iturnbolts
Thanks everyone! I figured it must of been for one of those ports, it’ll feel good knowing it’s on the right one
Rewolf48
Technically it is an Ethercon port (common ethernet socket with Neutrik XLR protection). My rubber protector is who knows where because I only use VDI with Helix, but if you want a better designed replacement you could try this: http://www.fullcompass.com/prod/152953-Neutrik-NDF
