medbad5150
Throwing myself again at the mercy of you all. Scoured youtube and google, everyone seems to use the Highway100 for clean only, but great overdriven sounds from original DR103 on the tube. Tried creating my own for early Townshend and Lifeson overdrive but mine always sound rubbish, tried screamer, tube comp, tube drive, blue boost..any ideas please? medbad5150
downloaded all patches to Hiwatt custometone...not even near..any ideas? Worked on mine again close but no cigar
oehman
In not a fan of the HiWay model. I think line 6 may have had a dud that they modeled. It is too quiet even with the channel volume cranked. And it never gets the drive that I've heard the actual Hiwatt get. The Vox models are much better for that Who Live at Leeds tone IMO. jandrio
Just a 1st attempt for "See me feel me" at Woodstock. Use FS2 for solo. Patch is stereo, for direct output with a JTV 2.0 custom model. You may try it with strato single coil bridge position. I believe the "Live at Leeds" sounds are similar. Who Tone Woodstock.zip
medbad5150
Spot on Oehman! Both Townshend and Lifeson get awesome drive from it, even mine to 100 drive and amp setting is nowhere near, Jandrio bless ya I'm on your patch tomorrow, thanks for all help, much gratitude! MartinDorr
Unless you have already tried and it does not work for you, use an input signal boost if you are running out of Drive to get a Drive-like effect. Mid Focus EQ or one of the compressors can do this and adjust tone at the same time.
radatats
hurghanico sure plays a mean pinball... very nice... I also have had good results with this preamp and my DT25HD and 2X12 with no cab sim. Sounds good alone and then for some bite use the tube drive or for more heavy use the Line6 distortion. Without the DT it probably won't sound so good through headphones or PA...
medbad5150
hurghanico many thanks fella, awesome sound and playing, but thats exactly what I mean is all the Hiwatt have to little gain, not trying to get Slipknot gain but you know what I mean, many thanks, yours is still a great patch though! Crank the amp parameter master to 100% SAG 50% Hum 50% Bias 0% Bias X 100% use a noise gate first/ decay 0 threshold 50% Next a tube compressor/ threshold 30% drive 25%. Distortion tube driver drive @ 50% output 100% then I put fx after the amp cause I like the cleanness the signal has. The tube compressor really brings out the fire in all the amps. arislaf
I absolutely adore this HD500 amp model, cranked it screams that is a delight.. maybe you have only 1 active input, I don't know.. personally I get a wonderful tone connecting a Gibson LP Junior bridge PU model to the Hiwatt amp model.. for distorted parts a boost comp works very nicely with this amp.. if you want check my recording: https://soundcloud.com/hurghanico/pinball-wizard and the settings over there Hurghanico, I would love if you tell me what guitar models with which amps you are using (e.g. Hiwatt with Gibson Jr). Can you please?
