KozMcCharlie
I also posted this over on TGP, but on the off chance that someone who is here and not there knows... Has anyone found a way to either replace or repair the LED for Tap Tempo or any of the other LEDs on the switches? My very out of warranty Floor (also purchased used, so...) decided to quit flashing, and switch 11 has one color (green I think) that is intermittent. Couldn't find any useful parts on Full Compass, though sometimes they're buried. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!
CraigGT
They just LED's they don't go faulty, they probably just need a bit of solder. Craig
CraigGT
Or possibly just a connector needing reseating, I don't know how they're actually wired. Craig
KozMcCharlie
Thinking about it some more I think you're right. I've seen some aggressive tap tempoing(?) and given that the other problem LED is right next door it could be a bad solder joint due to excessive, jackhammer-like vibration in the region. I'll try opening it up and seeing what's going on in there.
KozMcCharlie
Just wanted to update in case someone searches for this in the future... Had some time to undo all the screws and take out the board today. While nothing looked to be broken, I did end up getting half of the Tap Tempo LED and the missing color on half of switch 11 working while probing with a sharp chopstick. I didn't really want to risk trying to heat those tiny solder points, and they really are head of a pin tiny, so I left it at that and reassembled. Tapped the switch with more force that I ever would in the real world for about 10 minutes and everything remained working, so, while not fully restored, I'm happy with the result of a visual tempo indicator...
CraigGT
It sounds like you need a smaller soldering iron and a bigger magnifying glass :-) Craig
cmvo
I had the board with the leds problem on my Helix replaced by Yamaha Canada. The unit didn’t had any use since then, and now that i started using it again, the led problems are back. Not happy with all this situattion. It was an expensive repair for nothing! theElevators
If you want to get it fixed, the only people who should touch it are Line 6 directly. Mail it to them, after opening a ticket, and they will fix it. Not any authorized repair shop. Don't even attempt having your local electronic shop fix it, you'll be sorry.... Speaking from experience. Or alternatively, disable the tap tempo light entirely and live with it. I disabled my tap tempo pretty much right away, because I find the blinking to be distracting. I have no problem tapping in the tempo when I need to. And most of the time the preset and snapshot are already saved with the correct tempo. cheers! Hi, its not only the tap tempo led, it's 3 leds in total for now. I shipped the Helix to where Yamaha Canada told me to. They replaced the complete board, and now even it didnt had any use, it has 3 leds that don't work pproperly. Thanks

Thanks Hi, I would guess that any repair done undertaken by Yamaha Canada should have come with a warranty, which guarantees the work. Rather than post in here, where nobody is able to assist you, it might be better to take the issues directly to the people who did the repair. Your contract is with them. This is a peer to peer user group, and no Line Staff are here. If they have not repaired the unit to a fully functioning standard, they should be responsible for making good any defects. The repair should have returned your unit back to being “fit for purpose”, which it would seem it is not. Furthermore, they should be willing to pay for the shipping costs incurred. Hope this helps/makes sense.
