Nylander88
Remember to READ THE INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE UPDATING FIRMWARE!! Some people devote themselves to helping people (which is what the forums are for!) but people need to read the instructions to know what they are doing by themselves! 2
silverhead
Seems this can never be said often enough! Of course, the users who don’t read the instructions are the same users who aren’t here to read this. ;-)
rvroberts
So you maybe need to have a big button saying "yes, I have read the instructions" before allowing the download?

Of course, the users who don’t read the instructions are the same users who aren’t here to read this. ;-) As you note, there are those who come in here seeking assistance, usually screaming that the Firmware has bricked (rarely actually true) their, Helix, Stomp, FX (delete as applicable), and are never heard of again. I often wonder what happens to them. Maybe gone over to brother Chad and the gang on FB, or quietly whimpering in a corner. Conversely, there are very many who are happy to be enlightened and go on to enjoy their music making, knowing that someone in here might have provided a solution. Someone generally can assist, even thought it can become tedious typing the same thing over and over again for the unwitting fools. There is a saying that nothing is foolproof to a sufficiently talented fool. Stick around and find out how true that can be.
Wondo100
I have been coming here a lot lately and do my best to show respect for those that have knowledge in using the gear at a level that I do not have yet. I have been playing for over 30 years. Played small rack systems at one point, but mostly tube amps with either effects processors or some stomp effects. Took the dive with the Helix because of all of the possibilities with modeling, effects and connectivity and now trying to figure out best set up for Power cabs. I often get discouraged with the steep curve to learn all of this, but I have given up many times before only to come back and try to figure things out. I am determined to learn because I know this gear can deliver, but it is not as easy as plugging into a tube amp and a couple of pedals. It takes time and work and I am grateful for those that can help. Maybe I can help others as I learn more. 1
Nylander88
To touch on helping others countless times for the same thing, this was my first post here on the site. Twenty minutes in and I was a pro at telling people to update the whole thing! I at first had the same problem, but instead of asking someone for help I prefer to be able to fix it myself. that's what is missing from a lot of people nowadays is a drive to do something for your self and to understand what it is your doing before you do it (fellow teens this is directed at you too!)
