More than Stadium ;-) ?!

Guys,
aside from what and who thinks about little Greta right now and believes they can exploit her as a meme...
What's the situation with new firmware updates for products that have been around for a while?
I understand the enthusiasm for STADIUM-associated products, but I would feel more comfortable if we could receive ( at least) some relevant updates (security, quality, or whatever) every now and then... LEUDDE (a popular German youth slang term used to mark something as relevant)....

Thanks in advance!

Apparently you are aware of TGP. DI has stated repeatedly on that forum that they will continue to support the Helix/HX lines for the foreseeable future.

I imagine that they are quite busy with Stadium, but their Helix/HX updates have always averaged about 2 per year, so they're not really behind yet.

(sorry...) Everything correct. Nevertheless... Since JANUARY, no updates, really?

STADIUM is ruling it over all ?!?

What kinda updates would you actually expect? I mean, it's a 10 year old platform and it's pretty mature for what it is.

Personally, I would wish for quite some stuff, but as all of that would be functionality related, I don't actually expect any of it to ever materialize anymore.

We may get some "leftover" things originally made for the new hardware in case the old hardware is still suitable to run them, but others than that, I think the OG HX platform has merely run its course. And I think that's kinda fine.

Agreed...a 10 year old platform in today's world, is ancient. Can't reasonably expect infinite updates once "the next big thing" arrives.

I can't say any of this bothers me.  I've had my Helix Floor since they first came out and have updated it religiously through the years..until the last update.  It's always done everything and more than what I could ask of it and the last update didn't really change that much that would apply to me.  It's still a very viable platform and serves all my needs.  There are just a couple of things that interest me in the new platform, but not enough that I'm willing to dedicate the time to learning and using them.  The more important ones like playing along to backing tracks I've been doing that for years with my existing system.  It's probably not as slick and easy as it is on the new platform, but mine is FAR more functional for my needs than what they're introducing.  I'm curious about the new amp modeling technology and that could sway me once I actually see and experience it.  But other things like the abilty to capture an amp and model it are of no interest and I can't see where I'd want to use it.

I appreciate the thought and initiative Line 6 has demonstrated in this  new design, but it's just not enough to where I'm willing to make that investment.

Yeah... if I had a wall of tube amps to capture, then I'd be all in. But as it is, all I'd be doing is auditioning hundreds of captures that somebody else did, just to find the 2 or 3 that would be useful... it'd be no different than the Customtone and IR rabbit holes.

For me, the Stadium series is MUCH MUCH more than capturing (or new amp modeling tech). In fact, pretty much anything else is exciting me much more than that.

For starters, so far it looks as if this will be the device to deliver the best on unit editing experience by quite a wide margin. And in case I ever get one in my hands, it's very likely gonna be the pedal-less vanilla version, so I can slap it onto a stand and never ever touch an editor again.

From all I know, it'll also have two stomp/control pages, which is something I always wished for.

I really like having the multiple split option on the paths... also being able to have the two control stomp pages.... It's like I can have a bigger pedal board.  I use it in Stomp mode with mostly stomps and a few snapshots.  I have always wanted "just one more" stomp on the preset.  Now it is there.

That to me is worth it.

Yes, it sure has had a long run! But here's an alternate perspective. Suppose Helix had never existed and Stadium had never been announced. Then Line 6 introduced Helix today, at the post-Stadium price, and it incorporated all the updates we have now. I think it would be very popular, and definitely competitive with what else is out there.

Or, suppose Stadium existed for the past year. Comments in the forum would be "looks really cool, but I don't need the live performance features and it's out of reach of my budget." So then Line 6 announces the Helix. Sure, there's no touch screen and the modeling isn't quite as amazing, but still, at the lower price people are happy to have the soul of a Stadium in a Helix they can afford. Then Line 6 introduces Helix Native, which most certainly can hold its own (to say the least) with AmpliTube, Guitar Rig, and the other amp sims out there.

Again, I don't know Line 6's thinking, but there's nothing wrong - and a lot tha's right - about Helix. It makes sense to have a broader product line with more options for potential customers.

not to mention, it could be argued that due to all the updates (some quite major), helix is technically more like, 2-4 years old...as are QC and others.
