Future Native NAM A2 + TONE3000 API support for Helix/HX family?

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

I’ve been closely following the recent launch of Neural Amp Modeler (NAM) Architecture 2 (A2) and the TONE3000 platform. Seeing that HeadRush has already announced native NAM support for their Prime, Core, and Flex Prime units, I was wondering if anyone has heard any news or official statements from the Line 6 team regarding a possible integration?
As many of you know, NAM A2 is a fully open-source protocol (MIT licensed), which should make it easier for manufacturers to implement. According to recent industry tests, the A2-Lite architecture is efficient enough to run on budget chips while maintaining incredible accuracy, even outperforming traditional modeling in blind listening tests.
Having native integration and access to the TONE3000 API would be a game-changer for the Helix ecosystem. It would allow us to:

  1. Load high-quality captures directly without lossy third-party conversions.
  2. Access a massive library of over 350,000 free tones directly from our devices.
  3. Keep our Helix/HX units at the forefront of the "open tone" era.

Does anyone know if this is on the roadmap or if any staff member has commented on it? It would be amazing to see Line 6 embrace this technology and not stay behind its competitors in this new era of neural captures.

Thanks!

Not going to happen. Helix is nearing EOL and any future updates will be minor.

You can run NAM on iOS or Android and use Helix for pre/post FX, so why should L6 waste resources porting NAM to Helix?

Stadium is the future for L6, and Proxy is the L6 answer to ToneX/KPA/NAM/QC, XYZBTGPP-- etc.

Staying AHEAD of their competitors.

Hi,

This is a user to user forum. There are no Line 6 staff here and only very occasionally do they visit these forums - (See the “sticky comment” in the black banner stripe at the top of this page entitled “Welcome to the Line 6 forums”).

If you want to know what is happening in Line 6 world, you need to check over on The Gear Page, in the Digital and Modeling section.

IIRC, there has been recent rumours of an imminent release of a Native software version of the new Stadium hardware. How true it is, I don’t know, but you can forget any major advances with the first generation version of Native.

If you want to use NAM A2 download the updated plugin and patch it in on your DAW.

Hope this helps/makes sense.

I think it would be very useful to be able to use NAM with Helix Native on desktop. I am not running any audio on a tablet.

As stated by @rd2rk in the post above, this is probably not going to happen, as the new Helix Stadium does not support NAM profiles, and Proxy is the Line 6 version of captures/profiles or whatever they are named.

What you are seeking is already possible, and to save me from hours of typing, check out this video.

Hope this helps/makes sense.
